Milky Posted 8 June 2009 Posted 8 June 2009 Part of me wants the Aussies to go through so we can play them, but another big part just wants to laugh at them.
Corky Posted 8 June 2009 Posted 8 June 2009 Part of me wants the Aussies to go through so we can play them, but another big part just wants to laugh at them. I know what you're saying, but to see them go out in the first round would be enjoyable.
Milky Posted 8 June 2009 Posted 8 June 2009 Every time a new Aussie comes to bat "I come from a land down under... Great work from the DJ.
Big Ol' Bob Posted 8 June 2009 Posted 8 June 2009 I slapped Brett Lee's arse when they were at Grace Road a few years ago. FACT
Fox You Forest Posted 8 June 2009 Posted 8 June 2009 Mendis is a myth, they're all playing for spin that isn't there. Not sure why they're raving about him.
Edmund Posted 8 June 2009 Posted 8 June 2009 "Ricky Enjoy Leicester" Quality did anyone else see that?
Fosse Boy Posted 8 June 2009 Posted 8 June 2009 Wonder if Ponting fancies a game for my village side this Saturday. After all, he's stuck in the area with nothing else to do... :crylaugh:

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 8 June 2009 Posted 8 June 2009 Oh shit - they'll be up for the Ashes now - hope our boys are prepared!
Fox You Forest Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 Oh shit - they'll be up for the Ashes now - hope our boys are prepared! Despite what Ultra would have you believe Australia's or our performance in this will have very little or no bearing on the Ashes whatsoever. For a start the team will be dramatically different. Paul Collingwood James Anderson Ravi Bopara Stuart Broad James Foster Robert Key Dimitri Mascarenhas Eoin Morgan Graham Napier Kevin Pietersen Adil Rashid Owais Shah Ryan Sidebottom Graeme Swann Luke Wright Practically half the squad, I'm sure it's pretty much the same for the Aussies. This is just a bit of fun the real stuff starts on July 8th.
TrickyTrev Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 Not sure Owais will get any playing time and I certainly hope Sidebottom won't. I thought Rashid bowled really well against Pakistan, I am certain they are playing him because they think they might need him at some point later this summer. In general though 20/20 has nothing to do with Cricket. Being a fast accurate bowler is not as good as being a slow accurate bowler. The first 6 overs are contrived to make it very difficult to get out, so batsmen can just swing aimlessly at the ball in the knowledge they only have to get it 30/40 yards and it will be safe. Doubt this tournament will have any bearing on the ashes other than increasing English confidence, it has been a while since we won cricket matches against someone who weren't the WI.
Fox You Forest Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 I don't think there is anyway Rashid is getting in ahead of Monty. I wouldn't want Sidebottom either but he'll be in there. Anyway that's for later in the summer.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 You can laugh at me call me a sore losser or what ever but it is quite clear that the ashes is the number one priority. That said they wouldn't of gone out to loss they would of been giving it there all. But a combitnation of the aussies being sub standard at this form of the game, not knowing proper tatics for t20 (evident against new zealand and south africa earlier this year) and selecting players like brett lee who was only there to help with his come back from ankle injury leading in to the ashes. But I still would of expected us to put up a bit more of a fight, oh well 2 poor t20 world cups
ozleicester Posted 9 June 2009 Posted 9 June 2009 Ponting's a knob the rest of the players are below par, thank god the domination of the world by the Aussies has ended
