JASON JARRETT

Jarrett was dogshite , Carter wud be worth a punt but 750k is too steep , competition for places is good for our squad , NP needs to focus on buying a striker , backup for Howard or we'll struggle like we did in League One when Howard didnt play

'Preston Reject' lol

Did they or did they not get to the Championship play-offs?

They don't particularly rate him though.

Darren Carter has emerged as a possible transfer target for Leicester City.

The 25-year-old midfielder had limited opportunities at Preston North End last season and could be allowed to leave.

Reports suggest City manager Nigel Pearson is considering a £750,000 offer for a player he coached while at West Brom.

A spokesman for City said: "The club does not comment on speculation."

Carter moved to Preston from the Hawthorns in August 2007 on a four-year deal. The initial fee was £750,000, rising to £1.5million depending on the number of appearances.

The Solihull-born player made 34 league and cup starts in his first season at Deepdale. He began last term in manager Alan Irvine's starting 11 before suffering an injury.

Carter featured in Preston's end-of-season run that took them to the Championship play-offs but made just 11 starts.

Whether Irvine believes Carter has a future at the club could depend on other developments. Nottingham Forest have tabled a £600,000 bid for fellow midfielder and club captain Paul McKenna, so the Preston boss may be reluctant to lose two players in that department.

Carter, an England Under-20 international, began his career with Birmingham City. After a short loan spell at Sunderland, he moved to West Brom for £1.5m in the summer of 2005.

During his spell at the Hawthorns, he worked with Pearson, who was assistant to Bryan Robson before a short spell as caretaker boss until the arrival of Tony Mowbray.

Carter has en eye for the spectacular. His stunning winner against Arsenal in October 2005 won West Brom's goal of the season, and City fans were given a sight of his power in March last year when a last-minute wonder-strike earned Preston a 1-0 win at the Walkers Stadium.

Meanwhile, former City defender Patrick Kisnorbo has declined an offer to join Australian A-League champions Melbourne Victoria.

Gary Cole, operations manager at the club, said Kisnorbo wanted to stay in English football. The 28-year-old has been linked with Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town.

The kick-off time for City's Championship game with Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena on Saturday, October 3, has been switched from 3pm to 12.30pm on police advice.

i am sure if you go through our entire squad you will find a bunch of our fans that will speak badly about every player we have.....

Especially if they are linked with a move away from the club ...

Im not keen at all. If he cant get in prestons side then he cant be very good. We,re making the same mistakes again of signing other clubs rejects!

I don't think hes a bad player at all. Before he got injured he was a decent player. I was suprised that he was still only 25.

I think we could get the best out of him.

Just because the guy's not a regular at PNE doesn't mean he's not that good. They had a decent midfield last season and he was injured for the middle chunk of the season. I seem to remember Joey Gudjonson getting a lot of praise here but he spent most of last season picking splinters out of his arse on Burnley's bench. DJs another case in point, not rated here but Blackpool would snap our hands off at the right price.

We're light in the middle, he was involved in a promotion chasing side last season and Pearson knows him from WBA so I'll go with his judgement first.

My only concern with this is the £750,000 price thats being mentioned.

Looks like a sure thing. My friend in Preston has his basketball and apparently he is on his way to Leicester. Make of it what you will.

I think he'd be a good signing, not too sure about the price though.

Just becasue he was left out of the Preston side who had a good season, doesn't make him a bad player, especially at this level.

I actually think MM has talked up the price of some players by declaring that he had money to spend this summer....

looks a good player and he's only 24/25

Hmm, yes, thats why I was wondering about Wellens as he is 29 and we have payed £1.2million for him

Carter is a more expierience Championship midfielder, can finish, always wants the ball and is 4 years younger than Wellens.

But, you never know and in Nige we trust :fc:

we haven't paid that much at all for him!!!

it's a fee that COULD rise to £1.2 million probably no more than 750k with add ons like if we get promotion, after 50 games etc

Alright then, lets say 750k, and thats how much Preston want for Carter according to the article...

Well, at 6ft2 he'll add needed height to midfield. With Oakley, Wellens and Dyer we are looking quite short; they can't be more than 5ft9. King is tallish but needs to fill out if he wants to muscle-in.

This is the second post I have read of yours and like the first I have absolutely NO idea what you are talking about. <_<

We don't have much prowess in the air in midfield.

Thanks.
