Ultra Posted 7 July 2009 Posted 7 July 2009 :o :o :o :o http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=1...;mid=2125519789 How apt that you should find this thread. Does this mean you'll change your username to Wellens?
Ultra Posted 7 July 2009 Posted 7 July 2009 2 quality strikers next and a playoff place is very much possible Steady on! We'd still need another quality keeper (even if only on loan) and another full-back.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 7 July 2009 Posted 7 July 2009 Nige wouldn't have brought him if he doesn't think he would fit the mould.......so good signing.
RowlattsFox Posted 7 July 2009 Posted 7 July 2009 I've known of him for a few years and always thought he should be playing at Championship level, good on the ball with good vision. Also gives the impression that we could be getting the ball down and playing some football next season which will be nice to see. Still think we need a 'put-your-foot-in' kind of midfielder, Berner did a solid enough job last year but not sure he'd be much good this season, unless we're planning on keeping Wesolowski.

carterfox90 Posted 8 July 2009 Posted 8 July 2009 dont know much about him hopefully he is the tough tackling midfielder we have been waiting for does this mean the end for clemence the never man
Fox92 Posted 8 July 2009 Posted 8 July 2009 Someone post his FM stats, we need to truly know if this is a good signing or not. I had him on football manager 2007 when I was at Bristol Rovers and I have liked him and brought him ever since. He is a good player on it. Never seen him play but from the reaction of the Donny lot seems to have the class. I told this rumour when it was first in the paper to a few Doncaster fans at college and they couldn't believe it. They love him there, seems to be rated as a top player. __ Fairly happy with this to be honest. I have liked Wellens for a long time and it is good to see him at Leicester. Seems to be a good midfielder so hopefully he will settle in well with the players and the staff and form a great partneship with 'x' in the centre of midfield. Although I am happy with the Wellens signing, I am still a bit worried. Surely we need another goalkeeper unless Weale will be number one and then a young goalkeeper to be the number two. Defence is fine with me. The midfield, not sure what team he will pick here because he has surely finished recruiting midfielders - will it be Wellens & King and Oakley on the right? And we still have Clemence although I can see Weselowski leaving. Extremely worried for the strike force, I cannot see us scoring any goals/alot of goals with Stevie and Matty up front. We need an established, goal scoring striker in quick. On the Wellens front, is Nigel doing the right thing in paying £1.2million for a 29-year old midfielder that has played for, with the exeption of Manchester United and no disrespect to the following, sides such as Blackpool, Oldham and Doncaster and only in the championship once? Bit worried about that as well although I am happy Richie Wellens is at Leicester City Football Club.

If he doesn't deliver it will no doubt be half that.

Collymore Posted 8 July 2009 Posted 8 July 2009 How apt that you should find this thread.Does this mean you'll change your username to Wellens? Collywellens maybe, get it done Mark.. and I think it was Tommy who did my sig, can you morph wellens and colly's face into one?

FleckneyFox Posted 8 July 2009 Posted 8 July 2009 What happened to signing players that wanted to be here? Wellens sounds like he's come for the cash. Still reckon he'll be a good player.
Jay Posted 8 July 2009 Posted 8 July 2009 What happened to signing players that wanted to be here? Wellens sounds like he's come for the cash. Still reckon he'll be a good player. it's a job at the end of the day isn't it? If you could do the same job for more money at a place with more ambition would you not go? whatever way you look at it players don't often feel the same about a club as a fan does but in any job you can enjoy yourself, have some good relationships with those that you work with, have a good laugh but sometimes you need to move to improve yourself that's basically what Wellens has said isn't it? doesn't mean he wont give his all for the club
DanTheFox07 Posted 8 July 2009 Posted 8 July 2009 He did also mention how he would be looking forward to the prospect of playing in front of 25,000\30,000 fans a week!
