Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 OK so it looks like he is coming. I have heard everyone saying that he is the replacement target man, but apparantly he is only 6 ft 1. Not that big really.
Jimbo Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 OK so it looks like jhe is coming.I have heard everyone saying that he is the replacement target man, but apparantly he is only 6 ft 1. Not that big really. I don't think he's a replacement anything to be honest. I think he's going to bring something different to what Howard and Fryatt can. Looks as though he can deliver a decent deadball so that would explain his stats from last year with only 9 goals but 10 assists. I've said all along that we don't need anyone as a replacement for what we have but we need someone to give us extra option. Trouble is I was always on the look out for a pacey striker and I don't think this guy is it. So we could still be lacking. On the plus side we have plenty of pace coming from midfield in Dyer, Gradel and N'Guessan so if old Kermo the frog can add some creativity we may be lethal going forward

When Howard didn't play last year we struggled like hell. But like you say this Kermo sounds promising enough.
flanimal Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 Kermo seems to be a flair player, the kind of guy that doesn't mind trying things that other people wouldn't. Yeah, he only got 9 goals, but he was in a struggling Reims side that got relegated. In a better team he should do better, if he got 10 assists sounds like he may have been the main playmaker as well.

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 6ft 1 isn't small you can be a target man at the height. I know it isn't small, but he just isn't as big as I first thought. He will most probably be behind Hward in the pecking order anyway.

Not that big really. It's not all down to how tall you are it's more important to have decent jump and good timing. Some of the best headers of the ball have been relatively short players and some of the worst the tallest. Also a target man dooesn't have to imply balls high in the air you can be a target man and receive balls to head height/feet/chest/knee

davieG Posted 29 July 2009 Author Posted 29 July 2009 I am well aware of that but our style of play is mainly to head, which is why we missed Howard last season when he didn't play. Was/Is that our style of play or was it foisted on NP because he inherited Howard and little else in the way of alternatives and which is why we were exposed when Howard was out. I'd like to think he was building up the options so that it was no longer our sole style of play, we then wouldn't miss Howard or need a clone of him.
flanimal Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 I'd be pleased if we stopped playing to head all the time, it's far too predictable. If Kermo can add some skills, maybe Leicester will stop being so route one and play better stuff.

Personally feel he's the best ever ''Premiership'' target man.
AjcW Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 Les Ferdinand is 5ft 11. Personally feel he's the best ever ''Premiership'' target man. Agree with this.... another example that some may not agree with but... I feel Wayne Rooney is Man Utd's target man, he receives the ball to feet or on chest around the half way line and distributes it to the wings or to his strike partner.
flanimal Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 Les Ferdinand is 5ft 11. Personally feel he's the best ever ''Premiership'' target man. Alan Shearer is 6ft even. Great target, and great header of a football.

I would like to agree that he is building up options so its not the only real style of play, but they didn't work last season when Howard wasn't there. Les Ferdinand is 5ft 11. Personally feel he's the best ever ''Premiership'' target man. Thats true. I hate Shearer but he was considered a target man as well, and both were known for their aerial ability despite being under 6 ft.

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 That's because he didn't have any and why they need adding Well I think they are being added now with N'Guessan being able to do a job up top, along with this Kermo coming in. It will be interesting to see the strikers on Sunday.
Babylon Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 And proud + mate since telling people not to have a pop at each other, you've started quite alot of shit haven't you, don't you think? Bit of a difference from "cock", "****", bellend", "twat", "****wit", "willy puller" aimed directly at individual posters. Would you like to point out exactly where I have said anything like this to someone? There is a massive difference between a bit of group banter and being downright rude to someone, if you can't notice the difference then maybe you should pay more attention to peoples posting habits. This place has gone downhill massively, it won't be long before the delete button gets hit by the admin of the site on some peoples accounts. Almost every thread is getting turned into unreadable trash.

Joe. Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 How can anybody comment on whether a Kermorgant and another striker partnership work when nobody's actually seen him play?!
mmarkie Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 How can anybody comment on whether a Kermorgant and another striker partnership work when nobody's actually seen him play?! Ahhh how do you know I haven't seen him play though?
Babylon Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 How can anybody comment on whether a Kermorgant and another striker partnership work when nobody's actually seen him play?! A very vivid imagination.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 29 July 2009 Posted 29 July 2009 As longs as Kermo isn't another Carl Cort I'll be fairly happy.
