Jordan Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 Media bias towards the Big Four clubs really pisses me off. Here's the lede from the BBC's match report: Liverpool's quest to end a 20-year wait to win the title started with the disappointment of an opening-day defeat against Spurs at White Hart Lane. Hmm, Tottenham Hostpur's quest to end a 49-f**king-year wait to win the title started with an awesome win against Liverpool. But surely they can't win it all--it must be against the laws of the game or something.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 Not a good start for pool They are less well off than last year and will do well to come 2nd IMO.
Toby or not Toby Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 A few suprising results in the opening weekend, especially Arsenals and Liverpools results
maddog Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 Not 1 draw in all 10 matches. Did that even happen all last season once

samlcfc Posted 16 August 2009 Posted 16 August 2009 They are less well off than last year and will do well to come 2nd IMO. this is very true. Alonso was a big loss for them, a awesome player. Its bad enough for them when they lose a star player through injury a while, let alone lose them from the team . WIll have to see if Aquilani can fill his place
Ultra Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 Spurs aren't exactly likely to win it are they. Are Liverpool?
Ultra Posted 17 August 2009 Posted 17 August 2009 But are they really any more likely to win it than Spurs? Torres was very subdued yesterday, and they looked like they missed Alonso.

Yes, yes they are. I don't think they will, but they certainly have more of a chance than Spurs. And yeah they do miss Alonso, but they're always going to while Aquilani is injured. Lucas is dreadful.
Bryn Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Rumour sweeping several internet messageboards that Rafa Benitez has resigned as manager of Liverpool. Can't find a source though, keep an eye on SSN? Apparently Talksport are discussing it and PaddyPower have suspended betting, that's the best I can find.

Take your word for it though. Don't rate him ayway he must be pissed off with the money situation there.

MC Prussian Posted 19 August 2009 Author Posted 19 August 2009 Burnley vs. ManU I remember a certain Martyn Waghorn getting booked for slotting the ball past the goalkeeper after an offside position had been indicated. Michael Owen, however...
Fox92 Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Robbie Blake! Corker of a volley. Was it a good 'un? According to the Sky Sports live website it was. Might have a look at the TV now, I think it's on. Up the Burnley, had them to stay up. Hunt has scored 2 in 2 for Hull.
Craig Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Link for the Burnley vs United game if anyone wants it
Head Honcho Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 I need O'Connor to score for Brum to win £100
Tilley Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Brum 1-0 Pompey, last minute McFadden penalty. Burnley 1-0 Man Utd :D
MC Prussian Posted 19 August 2009 Author Posted 19 August 2009 Burnley beating ManU, what a result! Encouragement for similar teams that it is possible to get the job done in the Prem.
Joe. Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 Yes Burnley. And United missing a penalty too makes it all the sweeter...
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 19 August 2009 Posted 19 August 2009 GET IN THERE BURNLEY!!!!!! Pompey are in big trouble. Good night for me. Kuyt, Torres, Defoe all in my FPL team and Torres is captain. Well done Burnley.
