StanSP Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Wellens seems up for it...good to hear. And he's staying realistic - facing the challenge whoever replaces the injured strikers. Hughton on Ameobi - 'In all honesty he is a doubt for Leicester." http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/news/Leiceste...il/article.html
deepbluedevil Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Sadly Newcastle look to have found their feet a bit too well 2-0
foxoffderby Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 a win for me great time to play them with injuries and off the field rubbish, plus historically we dont do well up there and we are due a win against them. We also tend to play well against good opposition and when we are not fancied. Get in the foxes Newcastle 0 City 2
Nath Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Getting very optimistic... Soon get knocked back down to earth though. But im going to go for a Cty win!
Ozwin Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 I keep getting paranoid that I've forgotten there's a match on today. Saturdays without Leicester playing is just weird.
Nath Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 I keep getting paranoid that I've forgotten there's a match on today. Saturdays without Leicester playing is just weird. Very boring when leicester are not playing, time is dragging.
hoooom Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Win 2-1, although aren't we normally poor on tele?
darko2k7 Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 3 - 4 City Great Game just like the old day i dont remember one boring game against the toon army
MC Prussian Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 A spectacular match with a pretty scoreline would make for an eventful Monday evening, but what I'd like to add is that - speaking in maddog terms - with a win away at Newcastle, we could go top in the Championship for the first time in 7 (?) years. I feel a little bit more optimistic about that game now, seeing that Howard could be back in time and Newcastle missing a few key players. Yes, we can.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Looking forward to Wellens vs. Barton! Also can someone tell me was Gallagher used as the direct target man vs Barnsley and Preston (in the Howard mould). Have only just got back from holiday so just catching up with the key info! Think we will be hard to beat as normal and Ameobi is out for them so I would play similar to what we did vs United get at them and try and score in the first half.
Pricey Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 I actually think we'll win this. Can't wait for it, have to sit with the newcastle fans though

Steven Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 With Ameobi and Gutierrez out a professional showing will get the job done. 1-3.
maddog Posted 29 August 2009 Author Posted 29 August 2009 Win by 3 goals to go top. Come on Citeh! :locked:

Pricey Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 Just make sure you cheer loudly in their faces when we win Will do Look out for a guy in the newcastle fans getting his head kicked in when we score.
Legend_in_blue Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 It's time to make a statement of intent. This fixture represents the perfect opportunity to do so. Win, go joint top. Let's prove we mean business. We should be, and I expect us to be well up for this.
Legend_in_blue Posted 29 August 2009 Posted 29 August 2009 From a NUFC forum... Monday Night 7.45 K/OI think we'll struggle big time on this one. Xisco, Shola and Carroll all big doubts. Leaving us with Nile Ranger and Alan Smith availible the only strikers availible and the latter hasnt played their for ages. Leicester are a good team and Pearson has got them playing. Fairly good going forward and pretty solid at the back. I think we'll see our first League loss of the season 1-0. I certainly cant see us scoring. It's all good!
Koke Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 Also can someone tell me was Gallagher used as the direct target man vs Barnsley and Preston (in the Howard mould). Have only just got back from holiday so just catching up with the key info! Far from it. He kinda dropped deep sometimes, collected the ball and sprayed passes left, right and centre. He definitely cannot head for toffee, but he's got two good feet and knows how to bring his team mates into the game and if his Plymouth and Stoke days are anything to go by, he has a knack of scoring spectacular long range bullets now and again.
Gaffer Posted 30 August 2009 Posted 30 August 2009 Got a few Toon mates completely writing us off "were league 1 last year *snigger* should shuff am". Hope we sneak it
