Player Ratings vs Blackpool

Weale 6 - Standard performance with not a great deal to do.

Neilson 7 - Solid down the right hand side, put some nice balls over the top for N'Guessan at the same time.

Hobbs 7 - Dealt with what he had to do with relative ease.

Brown 5.5 - Gave away their goal cheaply, which could have cost us three points. Distribution poor once more. Hopefully just a small blip in an otherwise excellent season for him.

Berner 6.5 - Again, another decent performance.

N'Guessan 6.5 - Better today. Managed to beat his man on a number of occassions, but lacked an end product at times.

Oakley 7.5 - Led from the front again with another very good midfield performance.

Wellens 7 - Probably didn't get in the game as much as he'd liked to have done. A bit of a bizarre decision to switch him to left wing from Pearson.

Dyer 6 - Tried, but couldn't make much of an impact on the game.

Howard 5 - Just not at the races at all today, and he knew it.

Fryatt 9 - Clinical, exactly what we needed up front. He took both his real opportunities perfectly, and won us the game ultimately.

EDIT: Somebody rectifiy the title please!

Weale 7-One good save and not a lot else.

Neilson 7 - Couldn't really fault him.

Hobbs 7 - Steady as always.

Brown 6 - His fault for their goal, improved in the 2nd half.

Berner 7 -Steady.

N'Guessan 8 - A handful all match.

Oakley 7.5

Wellens 7

Dyer 7 -One of his better games I thought. His substitution was tactical rather than a criticism of his play.

Howard 7 -Won a lot in the air, looked knackered at the end.

Fryatt 8 -Worked hard, always looked dangerous and took his goals well MOTM

SUBS:

King 7 -Calm and unspectacular but did a good job stiffening the midfield.

Waghorn 6 - Didn't really add anything.

Gallagher N/A

Bring Adams, Tunch and Gallagher/Kermo/Waghorn/DJ for the next game Tuesday then.

Easy peasy.

Strings said Howard had a fantastic game and got a standing ovation :dunno: i weren't there so can't comment, but i bet he didn't merit a standing ovation :D

Weale - 8 - Took some decent catches and made a good stop on the line after their shot hit the post. Commanded well throughout.

Nielsen - 7.5 - Solid at the back, linked up well with N'Guessan and his long throws caused trouble.

Hobbs - 8 - Rock solid.

Brown - 6.5 - Indifferent. Poor mistake which led to their goal. We'll let him off with that, just once.

Berner - 7 - Quite effective down the left. Looked to get forward and generally defended his position well.

N'Guessan - 7 - Power and pace. Did everything right until the final ball. Can't work this guy out. Great trickery on the ball though at times.

Oakley - 8 - Great performance in midfield. Solid in the tackle. Unlucky with his freekick. Led by example.

Wellens - 7.5 - Superb player. Covered everywhere. Great performance.

Dyer - 7 - Looked to get forward. Made some runs, but did play infield at times - and was never picked out with the ball.

Howard - 8 - Superb.

Fryatt - 7.5 - He will always score the easy finish. He should have played in Dyer in the 1st half in the 6 yard box.

Subs - Can't be bothered to rate these but, as substitutions go, these could have cost us a win.

Pearson - Man-management - 8 - Subsitutions - 4 - Far too negative in the second half which almost cost us the win. Got away with it today.

Pleased with the win, but we need more self-belief. We are better than this performance and MUST start taking it to teams more when we're on top. The substitutions unsettled the balance in the team and many of our balls out of defence were cut out and fired straight back at us. Had Blackpool maintained their threat in the 2nd half, we would have conceded from it.

Weale 7 (Made some good decisions with aerial crosses, choosing to punch twice and catch on other occasions and I though he chose well and did some good work keeping us steady towards the end).

Neilson 6 (Just doesn't convince me except as a steady eddy. His passing wasn't too bad but he just doesn't support up to and beyond his winger with any urgency and it may be no coincidence that, since his arrival, N'Guessan has looked ordinary).

Hobbs 7 (The sort of performance we've come to expect).

Brown 6.5 (Clumsy and amateurish error for their goal but made some important interceptions too against what I thought was a mobile and competitive Blackpool attack).

Berner 6 (Steady enough).

N'Guessan 6 (Once again I was disappointed. He saw enough of the ball in good positions but failed to provide anything like the threat he should. Definitely needed more runners around him).

Oakley 6.5 (Always involved although we never really dominated in central midfield. Showed himself prepared to try things as well as doing the donkey work).

Wellens 6.5 (I never noticed him as being epecially creative apart from his clever free-kick with the outside of his foot that lead to Fryatt's opener. Although we played some challenging through balls I thought our passing was generally poor).

Dyer 6 (Moments of promise but they were too infrequent).

Howard 6 (Although he always has to be marked I've mentioned that Fryatt/Howard together are too slow for this league and, on this occasion it was Howard who was lacking. Might have scored with a header from a Dyer cross but generally lacklustre).

Fryatt 9 (Won the game for us. His two opportunist goals might have looked simple but Fryatt looked a master craftsman in the way he took them. Okay he made mistakes in other phases but a striker's game is all about impact and two goals to reach 50 for the club is a welcome landmark and one he well deserved today. Looked sharp, positive and might even have had a hat-trick but for the goalkeeper tipping his late shot around the post and the refereeing, probably rightly, denying a couple of penalty claims).

Subs:

King 6.5 (Couple of important headed clearances and back to his confident-looking self in getting us to pass the ball and retain possession. Apart from one seemingly simple chance near the end Blackpool seemed less of a threat once he arrived ed although our own growing lack of ambition was no more than we've come to expect).

Waghorn 4.5 (Doesn't seem a natural striker. Huffed and puffed once again but never posed a genuine threat.

Gallagher N/A

Pearson 7 (He'll be happy. To complete a year unbeaten at home and to better a side previously unbeaten this season is a pleasing double but I don't think we did much more than compete and stay organised today nor do I think we moved the team forward in any way. But, it's a results business and a place in the top six is as much as anyonme could have reasonably anticipated at this stage).

Weale 7 - Looks a bit unsure at times but made a cracking save in the 1st half.

Neilson 7 - Very solid, tried to get forward often too.

Hobbs 6.5 - Missed a few headers but toughed it out well enough.

Brown 6.5 - Cock-up for their goal but was commanding near the end when we needed him most.

Berner 6 - Not brilliant imo, didn't look great in defence but to be fair to him he made some decent tackles.

N'Guessan 7 - In and out the game, made some great runs but was equally anonymous at times.

Wellens 6 - Lazy performance, too slow and profligate in possession at times, did better near the end.

Oakley 7 - Very busy, played some neat stuff.

Dyer 7 - Similar to N'Guessan, stayed wider for once which helped.

Howard 5 - Didn't win a great deal in the air, certainly didn't deserve a standing ovation, only got it because it looked like he was gonna get the mardies.

Fryatt 9 - Wouldn't have won the game without him, two very good goals.

King 6.5 - More composed than previously, did ok.

Waghorn 6 - Ran around a bit

I was only able to watch on the small screen in the concourse today so my ratings may not be a true reflection but from what I could gather.

Weale -7- Solid, had lots of crosses to deal with and made 1 good save.

Neilson -6- Didn't really see him do a lot, good or bad.

Hobbs -7- Pick of the defence-

Brown -6- Average.

Berner -6- Same as Neilson really.

N'Guessan -7- Looked most livey along with Fryatt, not much end product though.

Oakley -6- Quiet from what I could see, didn't look like we ever had control of midfield.

Wellens -6- Same as Oakley.

Dyer -6- Couple of good moments but looks average at best at this level.

Fryatt -9- Match-winner. Offside too many times but he played on the last man and got through eventually, good finishes.

Howard -5- Poor today, when he's playing poorly his attitude isn't great. Deserved to be taken off, whether he moans aobut it or not.

King -6

Waghorn - N/A

Gallagher -N/A

Like I said though, probably not fair of me to rate today but thought I'd do it anyway.

Weale 7 - Did what he had to do, some good punches/catches under pressure.

---

Neilson 7 - Scares me to death for some reason but he had a decent game and does the simple things well.

Hobbs 6 - Shakey, I think Brown's off game was rubbing off on him.

Brown 5 - Poor, some silly mistakes and cost us the goal. I think Tunchev should be given a shot.

Berner 7.5 - He's brilliant, when he got proper pelted in the face he just got up and dealt with it. He's quickly becoming a Leicester favourite. Great performace from him.

---

N'Guessan 6 - Their left back got a yellow card early on and I don't think he tested him once after that. A weak link for Blackpool and we were oblivious to it.

Oakley 7.5 - Looked absolutely knackered near the end but got better as the game wore on. He's great captain material and makes some great last ditch tackles in midfield to win the ball back.

Wellens 7 - Played well, as always. Mr reliable for me. Also looked cream crackered by the end.

Dyer 6.5 - I thought he played well personally, not spectacular but he helped on the break andhis pace is always a scare for the opposition. If he stayed out wide more, he'd be much more useful thogh.

---

Howard 6 - Won headers, held the ball up well, but didn't seem himself today. Suppose he's still needing a few more games since his injury.

Fryatt 9 - I wish he'd look down the line more because he could have had 5 goals if he knew what the offside rule was! He took his goals well though so I can't be too hard on him, great composure and he's looking much better now his season has got running in terms of goals/chances.

Weale 7 - Did well from corners by plucking the ball out of the air either by ctaching or punching.

Neilson 7 - First time I saw him play and I thought he had a good game. Strong and fed good balls to N'Guessan.

Hobbs 7 - Made a couple of mistakes but thought he had a solid game overall.

Brown 7.5 - Won most things in the air and had a good 2nd half performance by leading the backline.

Berner 7 - Thought he was very good, like Neilson not the quickest but still always knows what he is doing and got forward a fair bit too.

N'Guessan 6.5 - Went on a few good runs but the final ball was sometimes lacking and felt he gradually slipped out of the game.

Wellens 7 - Passing never at fault as usual and he is able to play the killer pass too as shown again today.

Oakley 8.5 - My MOM. He constantly got stuck in and helped out defensively.

Dyer 6.5 - Similar to N'Guessan but thought he was better defensively as he seemed to work hard in order to win the ball back.

Howard 6 - As usual won most headers but I think he should have scored from one which got crossed over from the left in the 1st half.

Fryatt 8.5 - Thought that after missing the chance that he dint realise he was offside for in the 1st half he would have his confidence knocked but took both goals very well and he normally misses one on ones.

King 6.5 - Added fresh legs to midfield and did his part well but wasnt on long enough to do anything outstanding.

Waghorn 6 - Was able to do most of the running instead of Fryatt.

Weale 7 - I'm loving the fact how confident he is, a big presence and so far, reliable.

Neilson 6 - Without really impressing, did his job well.

Berner 7 - Has been so consistent thus far, another steady performance.

Hobbs 6 - A few iffy moments, but came out on top more times than not.

Brown 6 - Yes, what a mistake, but he more than made up for it with a solid performance.

N'Guessan 7 - His best game since Swansea, looked more of a threat today.

Dyer 6 - Worked hard, and was a fairly decent outlet when we were under pressure.

Wellens 7 - Loved it out there today, got well stuck in and with Oakley, helped us tick over.

Oakley 7 - At the heart of most things positive, a proper midfield stint.

Howard 6 - Won a lot in the air, but that's about it.

Fryatt 8 - Offside a lot, but effectively won us the match with some good finishing.

King 5 - Only noticed he was playing in the 80th minute.

Waghorn 6 - Play to the whistle man!

I'm sorry but Bruno Berner was incredible today, I'd love to know what some of you expect off a left back. Beautiful touches, first class distributuion, always supporting and solid in defence, If Fryatt hadn't arguebly won the game for us and had his best game in many months he'll had strolled to motm.

I agree completely. I love him.

He deserved one because he worked his cob off. As did the rest of them today. Sometimes we're poor in performance but you can't complain if the effort is there.

Weale 7 - Feel fairly safe with him in aerial situations. Good save from Euell.

Neilson 6 - Simple. Nothing more required from a right-back. Didn't give it away cheaply today.

Berner 7 - Cult Hero

Brown 6 - A lot of good headers, worries me however.

Hobbs 6 - Lost headers but alright generally. I expect off him as in terms of development he's still learning.

N'Guessan 7 - Marked improvement

Dyer 7 - Same as above. Sometimes didn't come off for him but he worked hard and his pressure led to the second goal

Wellens 7 - Sluggish first half bar the excellent assist and then got better.

Oakley 8 - Workmanlike with required quality. Every blade of the pitch

Fryatt 7.5 - Offside but his confidence is clearly there. Didn't think he'd be able to do it at this level.

Howard 7 - Won a lot of header but he's growing frustated at not scoring.

King 7 - Actually thought he did the job required in just keeping shape and knocking the ball around.

Waghorn 6.5 - Plenty of effort.

to be fair to fryatt, most of those offsides weren't offside. the referee had an absolute shocker how he could have missed the handball from n'guessans cross or the hand in n'guessans face i will never know.

Did he miss it? Or did he just decide it was ball to hand and that it didn't warrant a penalty? I'm not sure I'd have wanted a penalty given against us in the same circumstances but I was towards the the east end of the south stand so you might have had a better view of it than me.

bruno was a hero today!

howards finishing let him down but he did ok today i thought

i think pearson is realising we need to have more attacking dimensions so taking steve off we were able to see we can be potent without him still and not redundant like when he wasnt playing last season

well taken goals by fryatt. amazing considering he is not good enough for this 'level'
