Watford Post Match

Stringer said something about Nigel smiling like he knew we had lost (when we were 3-2 down). I should imagine the players in the dressing room wouldn't take that as a smile

Anyway, atleast we got a point out of it. Another good side in the Championship.

Obviously disappointed to lose a 2 goal lead but ah well.

Am I the only one who despite the goal still feels sick? Second half sounded dreadful, we havn't collapsed like that in years. First game in ages I've doubted Pearson and Im one of his greatest supporters. :(

At last!.

He is one dimensional

Brighton last season was similar, luckily this year we had enough time to get the equaliser though. Teams we had in the division under Holloway, Kelly, Levein would have ended up with nothing from that game at all, but we got the point. Wellens' injury came just at the wrong point in the game as Watford were building a head of steam, and fair play to them they took advantage clinically, while it sounded like we were still trying to figure out who was going to play where in midfield. Yes i'm disappointed after being 2-0 up, I was getting used to winning away games last year - but that's just not going to be the case this season.

which wasn't helped one bit with adams starting in the centre and oakley on the wing... pearson maybe class, but that's just frickin retarded!

All doubters get back in the wood work. Pearson has done a great job since he's been here. We've lost 1 game this season.

Results like to today are frustrating but also like the oneill days with a never say die attitude.

I'm not sure what people expected this year but if with 4 or 5 games to got we are 9th with a chance of the play offs we'll have had a great season!

agree. of course hindsight is wonderful, but McGivern on and Bruno onto the left side of midfield should probably have seen us remain a bit more solid in the middle third.

Bitter Sweet.

Not sure if i'm happy or pissed off.

We seemed to throw it away, luckly we managed to get from what the 2nd half sounded like an undeserved point.

If we'd have won Tuesday, I'd have been very happy with a point here, I was looking for the win today though, in reality we should be happy with a point though.

Are you serious??

Fryatt top scorer in the League and the Club??

Sorry it was a typing error I meant instead of Howard not fryatt, im still in shock after game

are you on crack waghorn instead of fryatt he has been by far our best player this season guessan is turn around player which he has proven on sevaral games.

brown out tunch in that should help out out defence!

I would be on crack if I meant instead of fryatt I am his biggest fan I meant to type Howard im a nervous wreck after listening to that.

i was so pissed when thier 3rd went in, i turned the radio off and had a full on mardy..

only just found out we drew.:huh:

Me too. Radio in sister-in-laws house off, Sky Sports off, a lot of muttering, kids frog marched out of the sister in-laws house, 5 minutes of questioning patient and slightly confused wife why on earth Adams was playing in central midfield. Car radio on, final whistle, suddenly kids in the back of the car less annoying :D

I admit Howard needs to start chipping in with a few goals, but did you not see how much we struggled and missed Howard last season when he was injured or suspended, with no disrespect, in League One?

Still not quite sure how i feel about that game!

Before the start i would have settled for a point, but 2-0 up and coasting, the 3 points seemed firmly in the bag.

Then, of course Watford stormed back and our lads buckled, badly. Not helped by losing Wellens who in my opinion is our key player (along with Fryatt i guess). We were all over the shop for a good part of the second half which was very worrying, nobody seemed to know whereabouts they were supposed to be playing, i'm not sure even the manager knew what to do to weather the storm.

So, at 3-2 down its all doom and gloom until Dany pops up and saves the day, and a point.

All in all, happy with the point, but food for thought for NP on his selections/formation decisions. And fingers crossed Wellens injury not too bad.

Despite everything, it's still a solid start, and i'm confident Nigel will learn from his mistakes.

Would have liked to see Waghorn come on for Howard at half time, Howard is a valuable player but not for 90 minutes. With the diamand formation being narrow would this have worked today having those 2 up top keeping the ball on the deck getting behind Watford with waggys pace?

Also we need to start with Tunchev if fit instead of Brown.

On the way back in the coach. Can't believe what happened. We were coasting in the first half, they never looked like scoring. The second half was diabolical, we were very lucky to get a point in the end.

Midfield went to pot when Wellens went off. Brown was absolutely pathetic in the second half, he lost every header, missed tackles and was bullied by Helgusen. Really awful display. Get Tunchev back in asap.

Overall we were very lucky to get a point

I think people need to calm down a bit after a game like that before posting. Tuesday night I was so pissed off I couldn't even talk about the game but is doesn't feel like that, even with the two goal lead thrown away.

Helgusson was amazing and his arrival and subsequent departure turned the game each time.

Howard was key to many of our chances again, so the idea of dropping him makes no more sense to me than dropping Fryatt.

But there is a definite problem at the back, not with the defending as such but none of our defenders can find a forward pass to save their lives.

The Tunch on Tuesday showed a different class in that respect so I think the time has come to put him in for big Wayne Brown.

But overall, where we are now compared to where we've come from, I'm happy enough.

We seem to be following the same old pattern; Home, poor first half, good second half. Away from home the exact opposite. Good first half crap in the second.

It really is inexplicable.

Just got back in from the game and I still can't get my head around the collapse in the second half. Not happy with a point tbh, the defending at times was horrific. Losing Wellens was a big blow, Adams was dicked on in the centre before moving out to the wing.

i used to think wayne brown was gerry taggart & matt elliotts son; i now realise he was just an adopted slab of placenta and/or a real piece of brown.

there were many factors other than howard's absence that contributed to that slump, and more importantly we had no other options...

yes howard maybe involved in the chances, but at this level that simply isn't enough, he has missed so many chances this season and, officially, only has one assist...

from what people said about the last game, he was embarrassingly off the pace...and didn't sound that special today.

n'guessan did in ten minutes what howard has failed to do in 8 games, and from the wing too

we now have other players that should be given more of a chance than they are getting, and i for one find that increasingly frustrating.

pearson's management of the midfield today went from poor to brilliant to panic-ridden confusion, which will do the players no good at all.

and brown - considering he was carrying an injury - well words fail me.

i'm still happy with many things about city right now, but it seems doubts in all area's are inevitably creeping in, and pearson today made two mistakes that were also costly against newcastle (ie gally on the wing and howard/waghorn up front).

and can anybody at the match explain how we ended up with adams in the middle and oakley on the wing
