Fez of Mahrez Posted 1 April 2007 Posted 1 April 2007 Really incredible documentary tonight. I can appreciate why some people find him very annoying but it's been a while since I watched a programme that was so hilarious, entertaining, informative, depressing and ultimately tragic all at the same time. It was about a "church" (cult) that believes God hates America for embracing "fags" and the people of the church who, amongst other things, go to picket the funerals of dead US soldiers who served in Iraq - deaths they celebrate for being a judgment made by God against the fag-loving country of America. Hilarious seeing them march around with their signs and tragic seeing little kids being indoctrinated with hatred.

Hilarious seeing them march around with their signs and tragic seeing little kids being indoctrinated with hatred. I saw the last 10 minutes. They flew all that way to that soldiers funeral and then did FA, What was the point??? And that other guy, who said he would rejoice when someone was shot or got hit by a car. Those sort of people who always believe they're rght, and they're doing the world a favour piss me off immensely
Turtles Head Posted 1 April 2007 Posted 1 April 2007 Its interesting to see how misguided some people are. It beggars belief that they are so deep in the mindset that they are the only people who are going to heaven. In the world we live in, you just know that particular cult will become more popular, as well as more extreme followings will pop up. Crazyness at its best. And Louis Theroux makes it so viewable. Hes great at what he does. Still cant figure out if hes taking the mick or genuinely naive about some things thought
Milky Posted 1 April 2007 Posted 1 April 2007 I watched it, and i agree it's very refreshing to see louis back. I also watched his gambling doc a few weeks back. One of the more interesting parts about tonight was the chemistry between louis and that young women who was clearly battling with herself and questioning what she's part of.

I was willing her to rally against it! I thought she obviously had a bit of a soft spot for him and was finding it difficult to justify saying such awful things about him.
Flynny Posted 1 April 2007 Posted 1 April 2007 Louis Theroux's brilliant and I'm proper gutted that I forgot it was on. It'd better be on the 'on demand' thing on NTL or I'll have to shit myself with rage. Again.
cisono Posted 1 April 2007 Posted 1 April 2007 Definitely. I was willing her to rally against it! I thought she obviously had a bit of a soft spot for him and was finding it difficult to justify saying such awful things about him. Louis Theroux does it again...

I only caught the last 10 mins
Daggers Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 It'd better be on the 'on demand' thing on NTL or I'll have to shit myself with rage. Again. Ditto... Proper programming rather than the reality TV/celebrity dancing/celebrity cooking/celebrity wanking bollocks that floods my television set. ...and last night? The woman was watching people stuck on a beach in NZ with a cow. I mean, WTF is that all about? Some bint going on about being next to starvation and yet I can see a bunch of chickens, a moo and an ocean teeming with life waiting to be scoffed. Sometimes I worry the world is packed to the gills with ****ing morons.
Phube Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 Really good (and scary) programme. Gramps was a complete nutter!!! Who only seemed to know 3 lines of the Bible, but strange his followers thinks he knows it better than any one.... ever!! Remeber we're all FAGS too, especially us married FAGS, who love sneaking out to have FAG sex...
Daggers Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 Remeber we're all FAGS too, especially us married FAGS, who love sneaking out to have FAG sex... I love a bit of illicit FAG sex...and to think the wife believes I am spending all my time posting on here...HAHAHAHAHAHA
Jon the Hat Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 Definitely. I was willing her to rally against it! I thought she obviously had a bit of a soft spot for him and was finding it difficult to justify saying such awful things about him. Well he is rather dashing... Did I mention Loius looks like me Brilliant program, even managed to get the Wife to watch it instead of Greys Anatomy.
The People's Hero Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 I like a bit of Louis Theroux. Read quite a few of his bits and pieces. Does some insightful stuff re: marginalised society.
James. Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 What I like about him is how he sometimes comes off as a bit naive which allows the subjects of his documentaries to open up in a way that you might not necessarily see. He manages to ask excellent probing questions without anyone really realising he's doing it. As such you get an interesting and unique insight.

As such you get an interesting and unique insight. His great strength as far as I'm concerned is his skills in terms of perception which enable him to adapt his approach depending on the personality of those he's dealing with. He is also so interested in the documentary subjects he approaches that this can't help but give him the drive to get to the heart of these issues. Rather than just picking up his pay cheque and pis sing off when the going gets a bit tough.
Head Honcho Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 I hate fags! In fact here in Wales as from 6am today, they aren't even allowed in pubs.
The Reverend Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 What a strange group of people they were. I mean, they were weird. That old bloke, 'gramps' what a twat he was. Come to think of it they were all twats really.
vanfox12 Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 If their the sort of people going to heaven then hell doesn't seem such a bad option.

Wezleylowski Posted 2 April 2007 Posted 2 April 2007 just sent an email to them and cant wait for there reply it read Hi my name is Wesley Cripps and im a young lad from leicestershire, England. I am writing to you to get your thoughts on my cult that i have set up here. Its called The Leicester City Football(soccer) Club Church or the LCFCC. What we are all about is preaching the fact that ALL Nottingham Forest fans and Derby County are fags and anyone that supports them will go to hell as it is against gods will to support either of these clubs. My only wish is that god takes pity on the earth and smites these dirty Derby and Nottingham folk down with his almighty wrath before either team makes the playoffs or even an instant promotion place, pretty much the same way you feel about homosexuals apart from the playoffs bit. Anyway it would be interesting to hear what you guys have to say about my humble cult and any response would be much appreciated. Thankyou kindly maaaam

Geo V Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 Ive never understood why people dislike Louis Theroux (not Dodds ). His documentaries are usually informative and funny despite the bloke looking like the kid who got picked on and beat up at school all the time . I didnt catch the latest one but read all about it in one of the papers. Weird sods need shooting. BTW, it must be noted that this is America and there are some seriously fooked up people over there.
Flynny Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 Managed to catch it yesterday on the on demand thingy. Excellent as ever. And it's not just America where people are that fooked up, though for some reason they seem to have a bit more of that kind of thing.
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 April 2007 Posted 3 April 2007 Just out of interest TH, how do you know that they are wrong? A very good point. If you read through was is said in the bible it condems pretty much everything that makes up modern society.
