Let me explain how lazy journalists work.

Davids talks to Portsmouth + Mandaric was once chairman at Portsmouth = Mandaric MUST be trying to get him to join Leicester!

It's got to be nothing more than lazy journalism but I wouldn't mind if it happened on a short term thing to see if he still has it. MM was talking about how to raise the profile of the club...

o rly?

Coming up on SSN in a couple of mins.

Should be interesting to see if they know anything more.

I saw a clip of him looking out over Leicester. Hopefully those goggles were a bit misty.

I thought it would show up on SSN, this is exactly why I set up my PVR to record Sky Sports News all day, I am SO saving these clips as momentos :D

While it is strange, and a bit of a gimmick, if he does the job it'd be great.

The best news I heard was when Nigel said it was a joint venture. I really don't think he would allow this if he didn't want to, remember he quashed the Savage move when he had the chance to re-sign him.

Maybe Pearson does see something in Edgar, and maybe he can do a job till the end of the season.

Of course, there is a temptation to say this will be an unmitigated disaster, and go tits up, pissing off players, upsetting the manager if he is only putting on a brave public face on it.

Still gotta sign on the dotted line of course, but I wouldn't mind it. I've already seen a comment on another forum from a Swansea fan saying 'I hope he plays at the Liberty.' That's the impact he would have. the vibe which would reverberate around the club would be huge, there would be an increase.

Maybe I am overstating the potential of signing him, and of course he has to be able to cut it on the pitch. There are concerns that he won't be up with the scrappy nature of the CCC, on the other hand, he could really increase our passing game, and give licence for midfielders to go piling forward.

The only worry I have is not the wage, it's not if he's shit, not that it might upset the dressing room (though it wouldnt hurt the younger players) My only worry is the potential that this isn't what Pearson wants, and this move is going over his head, because I still have that interview with Allen, when he said 'nah there ain't no rift' between him and Mandaric. Please mean it when you say you want this signing Nige, please!

It's all very exciting, that we are sure of anyway

...On the other hand it could be amazing for the players, playing with one of the greatest players of all time. They could learn so much off him on the training ground even if he is pretty bad these days.

Like you said the buzz it would create would be huge.

He's still like a much better Robbie Savage :), this could be pretty good.

Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson has confirmed that the club are trying to sign former Netherlands international midfielder Edgar Davids.

The 36-year-old, who has 65 caps, has played for Ajax, AC Milan, Juventus and Tottenham and is a free agent after leaving Ajax in the summer of 2008.

Foxes boss Pearson told BBC Radio Leicester: "There's been interest in both directions

"But whether it comes to anything is another story."

Signing Davids would be a remarkable coup for Championship side Leicester.

They only returned to the second tier of English football this term after a season in League One but have made a promising start and are in eighth spot following Tuesday night's win over Crystal Palace.

Pearson added: "When players become available if they are the right players for us then we investigate it.

"There's been interest but after that I'm not in a position to comment further. There's nothing to elaborate on at the moment."

Davids began his career with Ajax in his him homeland in 1991 and went on to win the European Cup with them in 1995.

He then moved to AC Milan in 1996 before joining Juventus a year later and has been a European Cup runner-up on three other occasions.

He has also won domestic league titles in Holland and Italy.

Davids moved to the Premier League in 2005, joining Tottenham where he spent 18 months before returning to Ajax in January 2007.

lol

Seriously, it would be stunning to see a player like Davids down at The Walkers, I just hope he isn't on 20,000 a week!

Am I the only one who's reaction is to laugh every time they see/read about this? :D

It's as mad as Mancini joining us all those years ago.

No I'm laughing as well but if he joins I'll be crying with sadness and frustration as deja vu kicks in.

These things rarely work.

Im so horny over this.

The shake and vac is getting more action than Hugh Hefner round my house at the minute. Salty streams of joy are flowing out of my lovewand and onto the carpet as if Megan Fox had just turned up covered in nothing but rolo yoghurt begging me to lick her clean.

I dont know if anyone else has mentioned this, but its rumours of signings like this that make you think that perhaps a little outside investment has already occurred.

He could be on 50k a day for all I care, its Edgar fucking Davids.

Im off to watch all the Nike Football adverts with him in, just to get me more excited.

50k a day, slight exaggeration lol!

& to respond to the guy above, I thought he was quite good at Spurs, in all honesty. When I heard we were interested in him I was stunned, and if we do get him, he must be getting paid an outragous amount.

If this has got Pearsons say so then I'm willing to see how it goes, but I highly doubt it will be a success. I do think we need an extra body in centre midfield but a huge name like Davids is not something I'd go for.

City team with Edgar in?

Can't see it myself :dunno: Not even sure we need a defensive midfielder.

Everything about this screams of a disater signing. He's old, he hasn't played for a year, his career was on a downer before that anyway, he might disrupt the squad, he will be on a huge wage etc etc.

However, everytiime I read about it I can't help thinking 'PLEASE HAPPEN!!'

I wonder if he'll get some nice blue glasses made?
