Finchy Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 Worst case scenario, he's sh*t, we get rid. Best case scenario, he's EDGAR FOOKING DAVIDS and he destroys the Championship. Most likely scenario, he's a bit off the pace, few breathtaking peices of skill every now and again, doesn't stay long.
Shrenchel Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 Just for the record I think this is a shit idea and I don't want him to sign. In what way?! I don't think he'll play that well or we'll do much better with him in the side and he'll definitely get bored and leave after 3 games, but it'll be fvcking funny and funded by twats so it can't be a shit idea.
Ozwin Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 i dont think he'd give a shit reallybut he'd like it to end with trips to Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge instead of Glanford Park and Home Park Maybe he'll go against what his reputation seems to show. Maybe he'll be a bit humble and find some drive and determination inside which makes him tear the Championship apart? Maybe he'll find the chance of taking a club like us to the Prem a challenge he could revel in. Maybe.

Maybe I'm being a bit of a humourless cunt but I just don't get the whole "It's Edgar Davids, I want to bum him" stuff. I just see it as a massive distraction, probably not something Pearson really wants and I can't see it having any kind of positive effect on or off the pitch.
dandannieldanok Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 What do people really expect from him? Davids is a 36-year-old has-been that hasn't played competitive football for close to 18 months now. How is he going to flourish in a team that plays hoofball like we do? He's not a 'legend' at all. He was a decent high-level player in his heyday but nothing special. Just because he wears those glasses everyone thinks that this man has some sort of special power. Really hope we don't sign him, we've got so many other problems that need sorting rather than trying to paper over the huge cracks with a publicity stunt like this. I never had Pearson down as a 'yes man' before but obviously I was wrong.
Finnegan Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 Surely he'd only be on a year long deal? And all the cynics moaning about this surely you'd take a bit of pleasure in seeing Edgar Davids here? I know he wouldn't be a world beater and his reactions would likely be a bit down but you have to imagine touch, skill and vision (no pun intended) like his don't just disappear. Pace was never the biggest part of his game was it? I don't think it's immensely unbelievable that he could come here and do alright in this division. What you have to do is stop and look at some of the other midfielders in this league and some of the standard of football we've seen so far this year. It's not like he's going to be out of his depth at any rate and he's always been willing to play physical football.

General Smuts Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 No not case closed you up your own arse Pr*ck. AC Milan are a struggling team and have been for a while for a reason, over the hill players. And if Davids was still at a good level as a player he would have been tempted out of retirement by now by a club playing at a higher level then we do. You think if Davids could still perform at 36 at the same level as Inzaghi he would be considering coming to us? I am enjoying it, it would be a great thing for the club and the city, but when someone so blindly suggests its going to be the greatest thing to ever happen in such a closed minded manner is ridiculous, I hope he we get him and he's incredible would be amazing. Muppet. Edgar Davids will be the best thing to ever happen to Leicester City. FACT.
CosbehFox Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 Who knows could be Pearson's Merson? Should be entertaining anyways. Surprised Notts County haven't bent his ear.

Get a grip, he was 1 of the best midfielders of his time.

I remember pace and stamina were the primary attributes of his game along with dribbling. Used to pick the ball up in midfield and drive at defenders, completely ripping teams apart like Mark Davies did in League 1, except Edgar was doing it at CHampions League/World Cup level. He's not a player like Beckham, who has lost very little with age, physical attributes were a key part of his game else he would be playing for Barca or Juve! The only possible reason for him signing for us is also money. But Edgar fooking Davids.
James. Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 James, don't take the thread too seriously. I just wanted to state on the record that I don't like it so when it all goes wrong I can be smug and self righteous.

maddog Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 I love it how this topic has 90 users reading it. This is the sort of excitement that only Edgar Davids creates.

Finnegan Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 Muppet.Edgar Davids will be the best thing to ever happen to Leicester City. FACT. I suddenly very, very, very badly don't want him to sign. <_< Finnegan wins the topic. And has a cleanly polished backside!

flanimal Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 Flippin' hell. I stay off the board for a few weeks, and the reality is now crazier than the most crazy rumours I used to shit my pants over! Edgar Fooking Davids. I am in. He was, and still is, my all time favourite player. Even if he's half crippled and has the pace of an arthritic tortoise, I'd love him to play at Leicester! I doubt this will happen though. I mean, are things that bad for Davids that he can't find a better location in all of European football? I'd rather join The Legend Darius Vassell in sunny Fenebache if I was after the pay cheque.
Adams lives on Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 Appropriately one of the banners on the bottom of the page asks you to get your eyes tested. Some of the mugs on this site need theirs doing too. Aswell as Davids.
General Smuts Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 I suddenly very, very, very badly don't want him to sign. <_< Fool.
Samilktray Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 I honestly dont know if I'll be able to handle him not signing now. I think I'll turn to drugs if i'm totally honest.
Finnegan Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 Edgar Fooking Davids. I am in. He was, and still is, my all time favourite player. After Yann Kermorgant, surely?
enex Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 Mandaric: we can afford davids Link Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric insists wages would not be a stumbling block in the Championship club's sensational swoop for former Holland international Edgar Davids. The combative midfielder, whose illustrious career has seen him play for Ajax, AC Milan, Juventus, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Tottenham, is available on a free transfer after his second spell at Ajax came to an end in the summer of 2008. Mandaric, whose manager Nigel Pearson is among the early favourites to replace Gareth Southgate at Middlesbrough after the Teesiders sacked the former England defender on Tuesday night, believes signing a player of Davids' calibre could be pivotal to the club's ambitions of returning to the Premier League. And he is hopeful of getting a decision from the 36-year-old before the end of the week. "If we couldn't afford him we wouldn't be talking to him," Mandaric told Sky Sports News. "We are a very ambitious club but there is always room for improvement and our goal is to really give it a go and try to get up this year and players of that kind of profile will help us. "We are in conversation with Edgar and his agent, and at this point that's all I can say. We are progressing and it is potentially exciting, of course, but we are not there yet. "I think things will be taking place very shortly and not more than a couple of days." Press Association Sport understands that Mandaric's former club Portsmouth are also interested in signing Davids, who has not played competitive football since leaving Ajax almost 18 months ago. Mandaric expects competition for Davids' signature and does not expect the player's age or fitness after so long out of the game to be a problem. "I don't know (if other teams are interested) to be honest, but if they are then I wouldn't be surprised," said Leicester's owner. "As long as he's fit, and my manager gives me a green light on that, and he's ready to go and he has the desire to come back to England, age is relative as long as the player is fit and can last a full game. I don't see any problems with that though."
