Thracian Posted 25 October 2009 Posted 25 October 2009 £250,000 would finance the purchase and renovation of two semi-detached houses to start my youngest son's property venture with the guy who's been fixing my own house. The target would be to complete the renovations within 12 months and re-invest the lot including the expected first-year profits of £60,000. Given what I believe will be an appreciating market for the next three years or so I'd reckon on a return of close to £200,000 over that time - quite enough for them to build the business for themselves thereafter. £100,000 or so would be invested on a slow world tour for my wife and I - say two/three years - with the idea of writing articles, compiling guide books, anecdotal commentaries etc to help recoup some of the outlay. Hopefully the returns from the articles would serve to offset the cost of the tour and perhaps even prolong it. £650,000 would be set aside for contingency spending decisions relating to our tour, many of them, I'd hope, of a benefactory nature either in support of individuals or small communities.
Thracian Posted 25 October 2009 Posted 25 October 2009 I'd go Las Vegas and enter the WSOP and return to England with another 4 million quid My lad certainly recommends it. He was there last week. Trouble was his fiance lost her ID and then couriers lost her passport (so much for Special "D"!) so she couldn't gamble until the last day when she'd got emergency documentation from the Police. Her mum, who had so generously paid for the holiday, wasn't best pleased.
lou Posted 25 October 2009 Posted 25 October 2009 Id sell this house and buy a similar one in a rural location.... staying in Leics of course so I can still watch City. Bit of land so I can keep horses again as I miss having a horse. Then Id jack in my job and start investing in Property.
