maddog Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 This is another big game for our promotion dreams. QPR in recent weeks have clearly shown they are a force in this division, with a lot of money at their disposal, and have a lot of class footballers. They have scored 4 goals in each of their last 3 matches, winning 4-2 at Derby most recently, which a lot of us saw on the TV and it truly was a classic 2nd half performance from QPR, simple passing football, resulting in excellent goals. Their danger men are Taarabt, Routledge who for me should be playing in the PL, and Jay Simpson. All pacy, tricky, good footballers, and they all have an eye for a goal. Simpson has bagged 6 this season, Taarabt has got 3, and Routledge has chipped in with 2 League goals this season. Routledge has also got 4 more for The Hoops in the Carling Cup. They also have former Plymouth Argyle star man Buzsaky in their side, so their Midfield and Strikers could certainly cause our slow defence serious problems, and i would be very concerned if McGivern and Neilson are in the starting 11 against that lot. So surely QPR are due a bad game, and theres no way they will get anywhere near 4 goals against us, and we will end their 6 game unbeaten run at Loftus Road this season, i think it all points to a win for us again In our last 3 visits to Loftus Road we have 1 loss, 1 draw and 1 win. We haven't beaten them at the Walkers Stadium in their last 3 visits, losing twice. So overall QPR could be a bit of a bogey team for us. Team selection once again will be crucial, NP needs to get his tactics and selections right for this one, Neilson did well at Reading but he lacks pace, McGivern doesn't seem to be half the player of Berner, so for us to be able to cope with their attacking army perhaps Pearson should recall Morrison and Berner into the side, who never did anything wrong to begin with. Pearson doesn't seem to realise yet that Oakley doesn't work at right wing, and we really need an out and out winger there to give us a bit more width up the right hand side, and decrease pressure on Morrison or Neilson to get forward, because if they get to their final third and get caught against these, there may be no way back for them in time to prevent a goal. But recently our right back has been playing right wing aswell due to Oakley being no where to be seen. It's a must for me that Adams, who has been fantastic when i've seen him this season gets a chance on the right wing, he will provide a bit of pace to attack QPR, and has been like a pitbull when he's played this season, very fiery and very sharp. Or N'Guessan, he's got us goals this season, and always seems to stick to the sideline, he can offer us a bit of muscle and something different on the right. Oakley has been poor all season for me, but as the captain he won't be dropped, King is like the invisible man, so i would bring Adams or N'Guessan in for King and play Oakley in the centre. Gallagher seems to be playing well on the left wing, and normally drifts inside anyway, but i would prefer to see Lloyd Dyer being played there if i'm honest, and Gallagher upfront. As for the strikers, Dj Campbell could provide the pace and forward runs we need to threaten QPR at the back, Routledge will be doing the same to our back four, so lets hit QPR with our fastest players too. Campbell/Gallagher would be pleasing, but Waghorn will probably play after getting his goal and will Pearson drop Fryatt? I don't think so. As for Howard i would be shocked if he is back in the starting line up. Lets hope we can go there and get another win, which will see us tied top. I will say a very exciting draw, an end to end match, finishing 3-3.
Legend_in_blue Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 This will be a tough test but I expect us to rise to the occasion, rather than stoop down to a level of play as we did against last night's opposition. We showed in patches what we are capable of last night but must perform at this level on a much more consistent basis on Friday, otherwise we will get beat. I'd expect a quick tempo and see us needing 'to get at them quickly', if we're to stand a chance. Defensively we are totally solid, but we won't stand up to a barrage unless we put up one ourselves. It could go either way this one, depends on who wants it more for me. Time will tell. As will the Davids factor in all of this.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 Need to be on our game and defend a lot better down the wings than we did yesterday. For me Berner needs to play as he will surely fair better against Routledge than what McGivern would do.

I got to be honest lads..I think QPR will give Leicester a right kicking...Routledge is soooo pacy and tricky....Buzsaky can score out of nothing....Taarabt will run and run at any defence......should be a good game though
jonthefox Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 we cant stop scoring either. seriously tho, tough game and would be very happy with a draw. is this on sky too?
Guest Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 we cant stop scoring either. seriously tho, tough game and would be very happy with a draw. is this on sky too? Yes Last night was on 5L Sports Extra too. We've had a boat load of coverage this week
mancunianfox Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 They are hardly Real Madrid though. They are a good side but we have already played (and beat) better this season. Nothing to fear and I think it will be a closer game than many posters seem to be suggesting. Routledge, Taraabt et al are good but opposition fans think the same about Matty Fryatt when they play us because they don't see him week in week out. There is a reason these players are playing in the championship and not the PL.
brett759 Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 Ive always liked your ground ...cant wait to go there once more....to be honest I was really upset when you got relegated...you didnt deserve it especially as Megson came and then just left you Your drummer is really good as well Good luck Friday night
lavrentis Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 Why people vote lose? We can beat anyone in this league. 2-1 win for me.
DeclanMC Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 I think 4 points from this week would be cracking. Draw.
Budweiser Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 You like are ground? No one on here likes it ! I reckon we will draw or suffer a defeat. QPR are a very good team but it doesnt mean we can't win. I'd love a 3-2 win, or any win, but, all I can see is a 1-1 or 3-1 QPR. Anyway, come on Lestaaa
StanSP Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 Why people vote lose? We can beat anyone in this league.2-1 win for me. I see what you're saying - I guess people are basing it on last night's performance and carrying on from there. I voted draw, as we always seem to play better against the better teams, regardless of what our last result was.
Tilley Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 I honestly think we're going to win. Would be over the moon with a decent performance and a draw though.
Koke Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 We got West Brom [h], Plymouth [h] and Scunny [a] in November. A draw on Friday and 7 points out of 9 in November would set up nicely for the tough Christmas run-in.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 To win, we will have to be our absolute best. To draw, will will have to play really well. Anything less, we will all end up being very sad. I think, Play your very best lads, and put Gallagher up front with Fryatt, Nigel.
Koke Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 We are better than Derby and Reading, so QPR will not put 4 past us [touchwood].
brett759 Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 We are better than Derby and Reading, so QPR will not put 4 past us [touchwood]. ok...2 goals ok?
Guest Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 ok...2 goals ok? so long as we score 3 that'll be fine
Guest Mee-9 Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 Someone's gotta drag QPR down to earth. We're the team to do that.

Thracian Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 Oakley has been poor all season for me, but as the captain he won't be dropped, King is like the invisible man, so i would bring Adams or N'Guessan in for King and play Oakley in the centre. Gallagher seems to be playing well on the left wing, and normally drifts inside anyway, but i would prefer to see Lloyd Dyer being played there if i'm honest, and Gallagher upfront. quote] Go without King? In case you've not noticed the last time we were without King (and with N'Guessan) we lost to Preston at home. It wasn't a fluke. They were the better side. And the time before when King was missing we also lost - at Newcastle - and that wasn't a fluke either. They went straight through our centre at times in the second half. N'Guessan played against Newcastle too. In the last five matches King has played we have won three and drawn two which is title form in this division and that included the notable away scalp of Middlesbrough. We haven't lost a single League match this season that King has played in. Are you seriously suggesting King has been lucky and hasn't been contributing to that? We've all seen King attack in the past, have a few shots, score a few goals, get into advanced positions. We've all seen Wellens try to thread balls through groups of players and sometimes give it away when there were far easier passes. We have seen that Oakley is not really a winger but that he does stay involved however he's playing individually and he does the defensive side of playing wide far more enthusiastically and purposefully than N'Guessan. A team is not first of all about individuals but about the sum of its parts and the effect they have. To a great extent King and Oakley allow the riskier Wellens to do his thing. In some ways King suffers because of that because Wellens is disinclined to simply retain possession. He almost always tries a forward pass. Sometimes it is a deft ball that puts the likes of Howard in for a great chance of a goal. Other times it's not quite weighted properly, we lose possession and there is Kingy either winning the ball back, covering the space left by Wellens or slowing the opposition down until we're well stocked with defenders again. In some ways it's a pity King can't just be himself and enjoy being an all-round midfielder. But mostly he functions as the cleaner or the insurance man and I reckon some folk will only appreciate what he does do for us when he gets injured and we have to do without him again. Cos we missed him plainly enough the year we got relegated.
Hitesh Posted 27 October 2009 Posted 27 October 2009 I think 4 points from this week would be cracking. Draw. This.
