I'm in two minds. we're still in a much better position than what i thought we'd be if you'd have asked me a few weeks ago, HOWEVER, in the last 4 days i've seen us concede 8 goals. fook knows how Brown kept his place in the team after forest considering berner and neilson (who were also shit) lost their places, maybe jsut a complete lack of centre backs?

First 5 minutes we looked good though. Clutching at strawsssssssss

Well that was marginally better than the opening day 0-5 reverse by Bolton under Taylor tonight.

Was there any gameplan whatsoever? I'll pick out one from each department, in Defence, Brown was once again absolutely god damn awful. Midfield - Oakley, his contribution this season, not just tonight is a rather large Zero. Up front - Gallagher is starting to look like a player who just doesnt fit no matter where he plays.

Weale was knocking short balls for Brown to either lump forward and out of play instead of getting rid!

Didnt see the Waghorn tackle, looking elsewhere at the time then saw the aftermath....

Wellens managed to find lots and lots of red shirts once again.

Cant wait for Saturdays next exciting installment.

When Brown went down injured I was thinking who we could sub for him. There wasn't anyone to mind which meant Morrison would play there and we'd have Nielson at right back. Scary thought considering we were loaded with CBs it seemed at the start of the season.

his work ethic 2nd 2 none! Dickov that is, cant be any worse than the shit up front now????

In his 1st spell maybe, Have you seen him since his return?

He can fuck off. I agree with bringing Campbell and Gradel back but Waghorn and Fryatt are streets ahead of Dickov.

Dickov can Fuckov.

You are actually joking right?

Somebody please tell me this guy is joking? Please?

Dickov is fucking abysmal. I would seriously, seriously rather have Stephen Hawking play up front than have Dickov anywhere near our team.

Haha tonight was so shit i didn't even notice waghorn got sent off. Just been reading everybody going on about his "bad tackle". Says a lot when a red card isn't a big deal.

Brown and Hobbs had shockers again.

Was suprised N'guessan came off. Think Brown is suspended now, so Morrison for centre half on Saturday.

Filberts dancing was fantastic, everything else was absolutely shite.

Everyone played shit.

Don't know what's happened in these last 2 games, we've just fallen to pieces. That hard to break down team we saw earlier now doesn't exist. It's crazy.

All three were poor goals

The first two had the same route cause, an absence of tackling in defensive midfield. Granted both goals were taken exceptionally well but all of King, Wellens and Oakley had stinkers tonight.

Put together those three, with our centre backs behind, and we are vulnerable to pace, especially on the break, every time.

The third goal Brown is backing off yes, but he is 2 against 1 after Hobbs has lost the ball striding forward the other end and Morrison was stuck up there too. It happens when you are chasing a game. Not that we chased it much!

Find it odd that a lot of our potential pace and flair in the squad is being overlooked. Gradel can't come back soon enough in my eyes, at the very least to worry tiring defences as a sub after an hour. Dyer is frustrating but at least the team has a shape when he plays

Like many others, the midfield is my main concern.. I just don't think King, Wellens and Oakley is working. All are in bad patches, all are shirking defensive duties and none are creating much going forward. I don't think he ever looks like dropping Oakley though to me he looks a shadow of the player of two years ago even. Can't see him dropping Wellens, who has done very little since his injury. Maybe he drops King. I don't know, the midfield confuses me! I'd like to see us play two wide men and stop persisting with Oakley out wide.

Last word for tonight on the referee/team. Perhaps not three stonewall penalties but the one at 0-0, Waghorn nipping in and getting to the ball, brought down by the Keeper...happened right in front of me and was a clear penalty. Unarguable. Complete bottle job from the linesman who had a perfect view. Take the lead there, and who knows....but we got nothing from the refereeing team all night including the two reasonable handball shouts.

Not a lot admittedly only 5 times. If you have seen more of him then I am sure you can enlighten me as to why he is so much better because the stats do not deem to back it up. All I have seen is a lot of slow sideways passing which usually finds a City player but never seems to hurt a team.

Oakley currently is being played out of position on the right wing, hence his performances are below par as he is by no means a winger. The midfield IMO worked best when we had him and Wellens in the middle of the park, who are both very good passers of the ball.

What are you expecting Wellens to do? He seems to get stuck and win the ball and occassionally drives forward. At this level Im not expecting a world beater.

But 2 win games, you need to score goals? like our front line has a fokking clue at the mo? and quite worryingly we aint had a clue the last couple of games!

Oakley has got to be the worst captain we have ever had.

Or at least that i can remember.

Never see him screaming at the players or encouraging them, always see him make countless bad passes, shite corners and free kicks, running the ball out of play and not getting stuck in.

Worst captain ever.

We may not be free scoring and our front line does need re-assessing at some point, however we need to sort the shite out at the back first!!

The last two games have sadly exposed us for where we realy are. A top six position is, on current evidence nothing short of fraudulent.

The problem clearly lies in midfield.

The essence of football is simple. If you have the ball and keep it then it is bloody difficult for your opponents to win. Sadly none of our midfield are capable of doing that for more than about 2 seconds. By far the worst culprit is Wellens who consistently tries to produce a clever flick are a pass through the eye of a needle and more often than not he ends up handing possession to the opposition. Oakley is no better and tonight gave one of the worst midfield displays I have seen for some time.

As for King I would like to know exactly what type of midfielder he is. Is he a defensive, ball winning, attack breaking up type of player? If so then he needs to beef up because he isn't strong enough on the ball or in the tackle. Or is he an attacking midfielder who likes to make late runs into the box? At the moment he certainly doesn't do this. Basically you would hardly know he is playing most of the time.

I don't believe the midfield are quick enough or fit enough. There was a classic example tonight where one of our rare forays into the Bristol penalty area broke down and both N'Guessen and Wellens could be seen casually jogging back towards the halfway line. The ball is cleared by our defence but because Wellens and N'guessen had failed to recover ground in ime the Bristol player had both time and space in which to start another attack. So either they aren't fit enough or they just don't care.

We currently have a midfield which lacks pace, doesn't seem able to create any clear cut chances, doesn't look like it can score a goal between them any time soon, on tonight's evidence can't tackle, lacks any sort of physical presence either in the air or on the ground and worryingly we don't seem to have any alternatives that the manager trusts, or simply don't have any options to put pressure on these guys to perform any better.

Tonight we can add a powderpuff attack and some dodgy defending, a fully deserved red card and at time I felt a side that actually didn't seem to want to play for the supporters and the manager.

You could have Fernando Didier Ibrahmiovic upfront now and it wouldn't make one iota of diference. The strikers are getting nothing to work with at the moment, there was no decent service into the front men at all tonight, save for the chance created for Waghorn which he blazed over.

It is such a ridiculously basic view to assume that a lack of goals is simply down to problems with the front men.
