lou Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 It's not pace we're missing, it's a bloody midfield who control games. We should have signed that Hartley from Celtic whe we had the chance, he looks the type of player who'd take no **** and get stuck in. Youre not seriously suggesting we sign an SPL player?!!
Ozwin Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 I'd rather we play 4-5-1 if it meant we had more control over the midfield. Stick Gradel and N'Guessen as the wingers/strikers and it could work.
lcfcsnow Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 Pace = Gradel Adams N'Guessan Gallagher? DjCampbell No pace at all, or strength. Very disappointed in him so far but didn't exactly have support from the midfield.

I was just thinking on the way home that some of our best stuff is played when King has a good game and we can control the midfield subsequently. The trouble is, much like tonight, King does a fantastic disappearing act far too often. Wellens was poor tonight, but the lack of options for the passer will automatically stifle his type of game.
Gaffer Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 Didn't fully see the Waghorn Tackle, looked wild but wasn't clear. Can anyone shed some light?
Ozwin Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 I reckon Wellens is basically playing the midfield by himself. It's no wonder he looks absolutely knackered by the end of every game and his passing gets gradually worse as the games go on.
Raj Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 Sadly Bristol isnt known for its racial tolerance Really wanted them to win for you tonight m8 If we lose to Sheff W on Sat i think some City fans will be joining my Brother!!!! Dont like slagging individuals off BUT Capt Oakley is bastard shite!!! We could do with a proven Ex- International with dodgy eyes!!!
Edmund Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 They just showed the goals on skysportsnews. What happened to the defending during the first goal? He ran through about 4 players. Abysmal. Was a great goal but a player at this level should never be able to run rings around players like that. It was more suited to sunday league football. Hats off to Bristol for the second goal. Top strike. Looked like Weale couldn't have done anything about it but the player should have been closed down in the first place. Fryatts goal looked very tame, god knows how he slid that one in. Fairplay to him though.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 I reckon Wellens is basically playing the midfield by himself. It's no wonder he looks absolutely knackered by the end of every game and his passing gets gradually worse as the games go on. But what has he done so far this season to be so appreciated? Hardly any assists and no goals is not exactly the top class midfielder he said himself he was. For me he is neat and tidy but without any real substance. I do not understand how he seems to get more of a break from fans than the rest of the midfield. As Public Enemy stated "Don't believe the hype."
Ozwin Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 You could say that about Oakley and King too though. They've done nothing of note either.

Guest Basildon Fox Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 You could say that about Oakley and King too though. They've done nothing of note either. Agreed but they are often slated where as Wellens seems to slip under the radar.
Maybes Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 Agreed but they are often slated where as Wellens seems to slip under the radar. Thats becuase Wellens is actually better than them both. How many games have you seen him in?
skinnydipper Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 See Pearson is blaming a lack of confidence in his post match comments. So for goodtimes again, all we need to do is find it . Suggestions for regaining our confidence 1) A behind closed doors friendly against Harborough Minis U 8s
Legend_in_blue Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 Pace = Gradel Adams N'Guessan Gallagher? DjCampbell No, my cat. And don't forget Lloyd Dyer! It really is a simple game sometimes football is. In the midfield you have a left sided player, he's called a winger, and he runs quite fast and tries to create things in wide positions. Sort of like going down the left, to the box, cross it in like, whip it, curl it, float it, do something with it, that creates something in the box for a striker. This gives you a goal scoring chance. His name is Lloyd Dyer. Use him! Then, on the right of midfield, you have a right sided player, he's called a winger too, and he runs quite fast and tries to create things in wide positions. Sort of like going down the right... you get the idea. His name is Danny N'Guessan. Use him! Although, sometimes you can call him Gradel or Adams, only they never get a game because we can't use fast players. We have to take a more predictable and cautious approach to win games by the odd goal. Then you have two central midfield players. They need to track back, go forward, create, do lots of things, too many things it seems. Oh deary me. GET STUCK IN AND AT 'EM!!! Passion! Pace! Where's it gone?
Ozwin Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 Wellens actually has more of an eye for a pass than the other two, he can also turn out of trouble and make it easier on everyone else. Oakley and King seriously add nothing, we need someone who just stays in the DM position and King or Oakley aren't going to be that player. We've got 3 players who all want to do the same thing and it's just not working.
Raj Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 Thats becuase Wellens is actually better than them both. How many games have you seen him in? In his defence Kingy is still a Young un learning his trade. Oakley has no defence,he has been bad for ages now(shouldnt just critisise one player though...sorry!)

We should have signed that Hartley from Celtic whe we had the chance, he looks the type of player who'd take no **** and get stuck in. Fuck off, We don't need any more SPL shite, we've had enough in the past, I hope we never sign a player from Scotland or SPL again.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 Thats becuase Wellens is actually better than them both. How many games have you seen him in? Not a lot admittedly only 5 times. If you have seen more of him then I am sure you can enlighten me as to why he is so much better because the stats do not deem to back it up. All I have seen is a lot of slow sideways passing which usually finds a City player but never seems to hurt a team.
caz123 Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 To be honest we were awful tonight one of the worst i have seen live. Brown looked like he didnt have a clue and mcgivern should be sent back to man city.Awful challenge by waghorn but 2 great goals by bristol city someone should have got a foot in for the first goal. We need to have more width and get oakley back in the centre because he looked half decent there and that he always drifts in anyway. So get king out and get adams or dyer or get gradel back so we can play with 2 wingers and get some shape back. rant over I will 2nd that

And Oakley is fast approaching a similar fate.
Ozwin Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 The scary thing is I don't think Mandaric will be getting his cheque book out if we continue playing like that.
Matt Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 The scary thing is I don't think Mandaric will be getting his cheque book out if we continue playing like that. It should make him more so. I don't get it, If we're playing well I suppose you can always add to a squad but if we're playing well it would suggest we don't need to much addition...If we're playing like the last 2 games its obvious we need alot of improvement.
LoughboroughFox Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 get dickov campbell and gradel back! cant be any worse than the SHIT UP FRONT NOW!
ramboacdc Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 The scary thing is I don't think Mandaric will be getting his cheque book out if we continue playing like that. this is what i am worrying about. We need to bounce back and we need to bounce back well or we will be stuck at the top of the bottom half. i know that we are newly promoted to this league again but we should be pushing the big dogs to make them play better and slip up and last 2 matches we have not done that. few signings or loans in january would really help. Just got to get through the tough christmas period.
