Shrenchel Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 Some people are only happy when we are doing badly. It means their permanently miserable outlook starts to look right. Exactly. Failure is like oxygen to them. Certain people are so bloody quiet when we're winning you feel like they're going to pop if we don't get dicked on soon.
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 its all about confidence..... most of the sides in this division, give or take a couple or so, are much of a muchness in terms of ability, resources etc.. this is why a team bereft of confidence can suddenly find themselves in a relegation dogfight. City tonight looked down and out basically from the start and Pearson's biggest challenge to date will be to turn this around. If he can't do so then he may be found out for the inexperienced manager he is.... Very good point. This is the first bit of negative pressure he has faced so far and over the next 5 games it may well get a lot worse if results do not improve. I still believe and hope it is no more than a blip and coming through it will only make him a better manager for the experience. Even MON had a shaky spell where nothing went right.
maddog Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 Played well first half, should have scored when we were dominating, should have had penalty. Very unlucky to be 2-0 down at half time, Bristol only got forward a few times we had most of the play first half and possession. Totally fooking awful second half. We have a slow defence who have totally fallen apart, a slow attack who have no cutting edge, can't create chances, can't take chances or make anything happen. But the worst area of our side is our god awful midfield. Matt Oakley, captain, fooking awful for the entire season so far, awful passes, weak, shit, and he's supposed to be the captain! He's supposed to be setting an example, he's been by far the worst performer consistently this season for us, if the captain plays that badly it's no wonder the others follow suit. Andy King, the invisible man, pops up with the odd goal but is totally anonymous in games, doesn't do anything. Richie Wellens, a good player but he always seems to just totally fade in games, it happens a lot, starts well then goes to pot. King, Wellens and Oakley simply shouldn't all be playing together, it doesn't work, they are all far too slow, and far to crap. Gradel is performing very well at Leeds, Adams has played very well but is never given a chance, N'Guessan is the only player who sticks to the wing and attacks but he was subbed, Dyer has disappeared he should definitely be on the left, with N'Guessan/Gradel/Adams on the right, Wellens and King in the middle. Sort it out Pearson, fooking shite, a much worse result than Forest, they were unbeaten in 10 with 6 wins and we were away from home, Bristol hadn't scored against us since 1992, hadn't won in their last 5 games and were 11th in the table and we were at home. I was sure we would win tonight aswell, i didn't think the result could be worse than an away loss to an inform side 5-1, but it was, a home loss to a mediocre side off form 3-1.
lou Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 They also have the same as Forest and Brizzle - pace. They break quickly, they're direct and they love to run at defenders. We've clearly shown we can't deal with that, so I definitely fear the worst. Anything less than 3-0 at present would be a near-miracle. My birthday weekend as well and I'm supposed to be going to it. I'm considering not doing it. getting my tickets tomorrow and just going to enjoy meeting my friend and seeing the new ground, dont expect to enjoy much else but then again this club has the habit of beating teams we have no right beating! Gotta love City fans sometimes!!!When we over achieve they want automatic promotion. When we have a bad time they want the managers head!!!! All teams have a bad spell but usually you can pin it down to one area(ie upfront) With us we are currently crap all over the place!!! Realistically anyone looking at this group of players to achieve any more than mid table is seriously on some good shit. A couple of seasons ago most would dream of having 30 odd points by Xmas...normally we aint into double fugures by then!! Just chill out abit, let them have their bad spell and let NP sort it out like im sure he will. Anyone who even thinks about calling for his head should never be allowed to go to a game again. Any team can beat anyone in this league. Ang credit to Bristol as they scored a couple of corkers, like people have said. we always excpect us to beat any team but are slow to give credit for teams to come and get points from us. Also a decent following from them too...didnt like the small team in Asia chant though!!! Tossers!!!! Up the Shitty!!! Sadly Bristol isnt known for its racial tolerance Really wanted them to win for you tonight m8
Ozwin Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 What I want to know is why the **** didn't we bring on Howard or Kermorgant if we're going to hoof the ball for 45 minutes? Fryatt should have started, he puts fear in the oppositions defence just by playing, being one of the leagues top scorers does that for you. He caused trouble as soon as he came on, won a corner and just creates things which is what the midfield should be doing! Gallagher needs to **** off for a game, just to see if it works without him. He's annoying me now. Wingers, seriously, we need width. Get Gradel back mother ****ers, stick N'Guessen or Dyer on the left and actually spread the play. We clearly cannot play the way we are currently, go back to what won us League 1 ffs. Wellens shouldn't be getting so much stick, he's basically trying to do the job of 3 midfielders, he tries to win back the ball, spread the play and feed the strikers. Oakly and King might as well not even be there. *Rage* The game would have been so different if we'd won that penalty too. Which was as clear as anything.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 Pissed off. This hurt more than the forest game. Speachless. If Pearson had any bottle tonight, he would have stuck with the XI played at Forest, and proved that we are not as bad as we were McGiven doesn't know the meaning of the word fullback.
Legend_in_blue Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 Was this performance improved with the absence of Berner? No. Was this performance improved with the absence of Neilson? No. Was there any point in addressing the LB and RB positions with like for like swaps? No. Will people still berate the fact that Neilson is not up to the job when, in fact, the players in front of him can't defend for toffee? Probably. And therein lies the madness of the situation. Whats the problem? Strikers. No. Defence. No. Midfield - you're damn right it's the midfield. Absolute shambles. Every single goal came from the midfield. Was anyone closing down? No. Did they run around like headless chickens? No. They walked. Slowly. Pace? No. Predicatable? Yes. Can I see a turnaround? No. Not a chance. PACE!!! Where is it NP? It's out on loan! Get it back. Can't be any worse than what it is right now. My cat could play quicker. Rant over.
MrSpaM Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 What was Fryatt's goal actually like ?Had no mention of that at all so far. He did well to score considering he was the only player up front at the time, beat two defenders and trickled it in. Fryatt obviously made a positive difference to our attack. Oakley had an absalute shocker, think their might be some competition for his armband in the coming weeks...
eraserhead66 Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 It looks to me like something has gone on behind the scenes at the club! Todays performance was worse than anything that witnessed during Holloway's reign! The midfield is non-existent. Wellens, Oakley & King cannot play together...they are 3 players that play the same style! A Tom Cleverley type player is what is needed. Someone who runs at players & takes them on. I'd like to see Adams given the role. The gap between the midfield & the strikers is way too large (sometimes upto a quarter of the pitch), hence the lack of midfield goals. Brown has to be dropped for the next match. McGivern should be sent back to Man City immediately...I'd sooner have Powell playing at left-back although Berner has done well there for most of the season so it was a bit rough on him being dropped. Morrison looks awkward at right-back although he was probably the top performer on the night! Pearson didn't seem to be bothered either. We were playing so woefully & he brought on one sub!! Then had the gall to have another one lined up to come on with 90 seconds to go!! WTF!! This is Pearson's first major test as LCFC manager & I hope he proves he has the mettle & nous to get us out of it.
maddog Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 We need at least 2 new defenders and at least 2 central midfielders and a winger in the transfer window, and possibly a striker. Get your chequebook out Milan.

Unused sub at Forest , didnt work then or tonight. Still think if we gonna use him then it has to be up top
somebum Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 Can't believe how fast morons are bemoan Nigel Pearson, but I guess that sums up the complete fickleness of the everyday football fan. We are talking about a guy who has completely turned City around from being a absolute shower to, lets face it, better. He is a young manager and guess what? He is not God. God is the only person who doesn't make mistakes. Now if the mistakes start to come thick and fast, i'll be worried... but as a young manager, he is going to have some blips, some things won't work for him and others will. Stick with him, all this talk is lunacy and whilst some mistakes are always going to be made, if you want the rainbow you have to put up with the rain. Get a life.
lou Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 at people slagging NP off for changing things.... he was getting slated for NOT changing things 24 hours ago!

Hoping this game will go the same way, but the way things are at the minute I can't see it. at people slagging NP off for changing things.... he was getting slated for NOT changing things 24 hours ago! don't you just love our fans??
skinnydipper Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 I like Pearson. He's normally pretty straight and doesn't look for excuses when things haven't gone right ( which so far hasn't been too often). But tonight he didn't have a clue what to do, looking like a startled bunny in the headlights. Given the pisspoor performance I don't understand why he only made one change at the 65 minute mark and then had Adams ready to go on in the second minute of stoppage time. Perhaps he was time wasting to stop us shipping more goals . And McGivern over Berner - unexplainable unless McGivern is the secret love child of the Chairman. For the first time since he's been here the manager's going to be feeling the heat and it'll be interesting to see how he responds.
lifted*fox Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 Well, that was comedy really wasn't it? I went to see a pantomime at the weekend just gone & I think tonight was probably funnier, (in a cynical sort of way). A wet, cold Tuesday night where we needed to bounce back from a 'derby' thrashing at the weekend & we just didn't turn up. Pearson obviously thought he'd give some 'fringe' players a chance to shine & they fluffed it. McGivern is a liability, just doesn't have the experience & he shouldn't be 'learning' at Leicester at the expense of our club. Woeful passing & inability to read the opposition lets him down constantly. On the other hand, Brown, with plenty of experience is being outpaced & backing off so far he's already in another country for his Christmas holidays. Still, maybe he's been told not to risk being red carded, as who have we got to cover him if he gets banned for 3 games? Nobody. I still maintain that he's a better leader of men than Oakley, who quite frankley couldn't lead a shit down a u-bend. Oakley should not be played on the wing, in fact, I don't think he should be played at all. He's completely pedestrian. Wellens has taken a turn for the worse, but who's he meant to pass to when there is nobody in space? Gallagher is full of tricks but has no substance & Waghorn, bless his heart, tries his best but it's hard when you're on your own. Weale's distribution is slow & innaccurate and leads to us giving the ball away far too easily at times. The whole team is lacking in confidence & ideas. We lack pace, we lack creativity & we're severely missing a LEADER. When Waghorn was down today and it was 0-2, where was Oakley gathering players & picking them up? Nowhere to be seen. Two completely seperate groups of players, with nobody picking up the pieces. We need somebody with some guts to pull the guys through a tough patch on the field & currently we don't have that. I can't stand people calling for Pearson's head & boo-ing the team before the game, during the game, at half-time, at the final whistle. fooking useless idiots. However, Pearson is in for a tough couple of weeks, probably the toughest he's had so far at Leicester. Back to basics probably, because it seems we can't even do the basics right at the minute. A real shame, because it has proven our successful rise to 3rd was probably a false position. But we're still capable of doing well in this league, there is just a LOT of work to be done still. Meh. Bit of a rant, but let's hope it gets better on Saturday! C'mon Leicester.
martyn Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 re Gallagher, I think he's only likely to be an asset in a side playing intelligent passing football. He's not the type of player to get stuck in/win headers which, considering how we've played recently renders him somewhat useless.

Guest Mee-9 Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 Pace = Gradel Adams N'Guessan Gallagher? DjCampbell
Ozwin Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 It's not pace we're missing, it's a bloody midfield who control games. We should have signed that Hartley from Celtic whe we had the chance, he looks the type of player who'd take no **** and get stuck in.
purpleronnie Posted 8 December 2009 Posted 8 December 2009 Our fans are pure twats aren't they? Guy scores a brilliant goal and he gets berated. And whoever chanted 'only 1 martyn waghorn' after the horror tackle seriously is a **** and should be banned. Over reaction?. Jeez.
