Ozwin Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 I've got mates who 'support' Leicester but they also 'support' Prem sides like Liverpool, Arsenal, Spurs, United and probably some others. Now personally I think it's wrong, it's like they have a Prem side to fall back on because Leicester aren't doing so well. These mates of mine are 19/20 btw so it's not like we're 10 anymore. Just bugs me tis all. <_<
samlcfc Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 Depends whether they properly support them to me. If they support say, leicester but also like to see another team doing well because of other links then Im fine with it.
Finnegan Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 Enter Uncle Albert, stage left. Although, actually, not being funny - but is he actually a Leicester fan or does he just have mates here? Honest question.
Jimothy Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 I think alot of people have preferences on who they want to do well in the Premier League, but you can't support two teams, thats bull.
Fosse Boy Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 If they have valid reasons to support two teams then let them, for example I know a lad who supports Newcastle and Cambridge because he was born in Newcastle but brought up in Cambridge. I just can't stand people who support a big club as well as Leicester so they can have a big team to follow, that's really pathetic. Or the kind of glory hunting ****** who support Leicester on the side for a bit of a joke. Once on one of the Leicester City facebook groups I saw someone leave a comment like "Come on Leicester loolz" or something. The cunt was decked out in a Chelsea tracksuit on his profile pic. Sickening.
syston_fox Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 Im a die hard Leicester fan but have more than a passing interest in Manchester City having made several trips up to the COMS when Leicester aren't playing that day. The only reason being that I went up to watch them play Stoke last season just for the hell of it and ended up having a brilliant time mixing with their fans and thoroughly enjoyed the day as a whole. Made a few more trips last season as a result and now I always check their scores first when leaving our game. However if it ever came down to it and we drew them in the cup or something, I know firmly which side my alliegancies lie and for that day there will be only one City - Leicester.
dandannieldanok Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 I don't care if people support more than one team, as long as they don't rub it in my face which these kind of people normally do because their second team is usually a successful one. I mean you would never have someone purposely choose their second team as Portsmouth would you.
Ozwin Posted 13 December 2009 Author Posted 13 December 2009 Exactly. They only have a second team because it gives them that winning feeling which they crave. It makes winning so much sweeter when you've been with a team through the highs and lows.
Father Ted Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 I despise Man U and Arsenal fans who claim that they will get a season tickey if Leicester were in the Prem. NO YOU WON'T!!! I also hate Liverpool fans who whenever they lose always claim Leicester to be their '2nd team'. NO IT IS NOT, IT'S CHELSEA!! Although, I have a friend who's dad is a Geordie but is born in Leicester so supports both. That's fine by me.

It makes winning so much sweeter when you've been with a team through the highs and lows. I dont really class myself as supporting Man City, just as having more than a passive interest in them.
Ozwin Posted 13 December 2009 Author Posted 13 December 2009 I suppose that's fine then. It just bugs me when my mates Facebook status changes from 'Get in, 3-0 win City!' to 'Liverpool la la la' (before the Liverpool match) It's just not right.
The Doctor Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 depends. If you've got proper connections with the team/city then its fine but else it seems wrong. For instance i have soft spots for celtic and Cowdenbeath. Celtic because i have several scottish relatives who support Rangers and Cowdenbeath because thats where my grandma grew up along with several of my scottish relatives.
Guest Bilo Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 I have a passing interest in Barcelona, partly because of the history between themselves and Real Madrid (and on a broader scale, the relationship between Catalonia and Castillan Spain) and plan to see them when I go there in February but it doesn't really go any further than looking out for their results, watching them when they're on TV and generally wanting them to do well. The only team I actively support is Leicester, always been that way.
Vacamion Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 Leicester City and Partick Thistle. The only time they will play each other in a competitive fixture is when they are are both in Europe.... So never then. So no clash of interests. Job Done.

A good mate of mine is a city fan , ive been there a few times (for gigs, aswell as footy), but i can relate to thier supporters in a way. they were relegated to lg1 remember, had seasons of mediocrity, and all the time thier biggest rivals were most probably on thier way to becoming the most succesful team in english football.
Tommeh Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 Absolutely Leicester all the way and could never claim to support another English club. Do like Sheffield Wednesday however, living up here and not being able to make it back for all Leicester games means I get to see them a bit, been 2 home and 2 away this season. Plus I have a few mates at uni who support them and one lad who goes most weeks home and away. Also their support is bloody brilliant. But yeah don't claim to support them in any way, know a lot of guys up here who support other clubs and have adopted Wednesday or United and get down whenever possible.
Webbo Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 I'd like Arsenal to win the Prem but only because we;re not in direct competition. If we were ever to play Arsenal I's still want Leicester to win. Does that make an Arsenal supporter?

Koke Posted 13 December 2009 Posted 13 December 2009 I support Leicester only. But I am very closely attached to Aston Villa due to family links. I've watched them numerous times home & away over the years. I also got a soft spot for Sheffield Wednesday and Crewe Alexandra.
Unabomber Posted 14 December 2009 Posted 14 December 2009 I support Leicester, and go to most games home and away and would never dream of supporting any other team. However I do like Arsenal, Sheff Wed and Valencia, and take an interest in to how they are doing.
Unit Posted 14 December 2009 Posted 14 December 2009 I support Leicester but because of my Dad I check how Oxford are doing in the league every 3 months. So no, you can't support more than 1 team
AjcW Posted 14 December 2009 Posted 14 December 2009 The word support should only be linked to one club. Leicester. However the word follow can be branded about as much as you like. I keenly follow Barcelona. I also follow(due to family ties) Newcastle and Chelsea.
Finnegan Posted 14 December 2009 Posted 14 December 2009 Don't you call Barcelona "us" and "we", etc?
Ozwin Posted 14 December 2009 Author Posted 14 December 2009 Finnegan, it really disturbs me that you have a Forest player as your avatar. How could you?
