Doncaster Rovers away OFF

Once again, City fans face humiliation because a Mickey Mouse councillor can't be bothered to engage his brain before typing.

Is it possible you could stay in Derby?

Can't believe this has been called off. Just getting ready at home before getting picked up when I heard the news that it had been postponed. Luckily for me I hadn't left the house yet, feel sorry for the fans who had already left. How the fook can Fleetwood Town's match today who play in the Conference North which is just down the road from Blackpool go ahead and 2 Championship matches be called off. Shocked.

I was very lucky, literally just walked out the door when i got a phone call saying it was off. I feel for anyone already travelling/there. I know some were doing fancy dress too.

Going to be a struggle to make this one now - think i'll have to pull a favour in at work.

What a load of shit.

We're going to have loads of fixtures in midweek.

i know there are a large amount of people who would prefer to have the points in the bag.... at least we have the small consolation of having a defence for when it is rescheduled...

Went on one of the Donny forums and their fans are pretty disgusted, one bloke says it was minus 1.5C at 5am this morning, not minus 6 as quoted on the OS, another says he went down to the ground and bought tickets for this game prior to the inspection and was sold them by the club.

They claim to have sold 8800 and with our 2400 - stated that it was going to be a "big turnout"! ha!

Oh well, looks like an afternoon with me Auf Wiedershen Pet dvd boxset....

100 mile round trip with the sun streaming down for nothing - thanks

Posted by Doncaster on the 24th when the weather was by all accounts significantly worse than it is today.

All measures possible are being taken to ensure Monday's game against Leicester City will go ahead following the freezing conditions this week.

Shane Chalmers, Keepmoat General Manager told the Free Press "We're trying everything we possibly can to ensure the game goes ahead on the 28th. We're monitoring the weather and how the pitch is reacting to the different measures were using".

The gritting lorries are on standby for the 28th and rock salt has been ordered in to tackle the areas we have responsibility for, so there will be no issues there.

Dave Morris, Rovers Chief Executive said "To ensure the game goes ahead we have invested in extra covers to make sure that the frost and snow does not get to the pitch. This should guarantee that the pitch is playable for Monday and along with the excellent ground staff and SMC the car parks and terracing should be fine. The Club sees no reason why the game should not go ahead as scheduled".

The low temperature mark is expected to rise above freezing this weekend with sunny intervals anticipated, helping make sure the games goes ahead.

you can almost garantee we will draw with swansea now just to give us another midweek game to worry about

Our last away game was Forest on 5th December. Our next away game is Swansea on the 16th January. <_<

Pearson looks pissed off on the doncaster site, gutted its not on for those that were going.

On a positive at least we should have a fitter team next time round.

We hadn't left so not as bad as Cardiff, Just slightly annoyed at another day of boredom.

Possibly a blessing in disguise give our defensive problems.

A lot of midweek games coming up somewhere along the line though.

Cardiff, Doncaster, Palace, Bristol City and Barnsley all midweek away days....unless we get knocked out of the cup and manage to re-arrange on 4th/5th round dates.

We've got Scunny at home on the weekend on the 5th round.

Could potentially be another rearranged game.

I see they posted a Pitch Inspection warning at 10:30, if they hadn't have been so cocksure the game was going ahead I would have checked before leaving at 10:35.

Pretty disgusting that bloke that bought tickets from their TO at 10.15am who asked if it was on and they didnt even tell him about the pitch inspection. They could have warned him to hang on for 15 mins ffs.

Then, like most of his charges, he does a good line in simulation. One way he likes this well...

On Saturday it will be a squad selection for Round 3 so, come the 9th January, the majority of your regulars will have played only once in four weeks - a lengthy, unofficial winter hiatus. And that's a damn good thing, particularly in view of the unusually inclement weather that you've been experiencing.

As a consequence of your two postponements your stretcher cases and walking wounded lists have barely increased, some of your long term casualties may now be available for the rearranged fixtures and then there's the further bonus of some additional firepower coming through the window in January. So you face the 'unfortunate' prospect of a well rested, fully recuperated and enlarged squad for the remainder of the campaign.

Hard to believe that your postponements were not the result of collusion (perish the thought that my wily fellow countryman would engage in underhand tactics!). Looks like your high command are going for 'autoprom'. And I have a hunch that you'll do it. Wouldn't it be great to have a real life replay of '96 and see thousands of lachrymose Tooners watch their team implode in the final weeks of the season? Memo to Foxes - kick Nolan senseless at The Walkers (those who live by the studs die by the studs!).

By the sound of it the majority of posters do not like this well. A serious consequence of being a fan is developing a small mind and being blind to the big picture. No amount of promotions can compensate for a lost Awayday or a tank of unleaded.

Particularly those that want to remain in the Chumpship to experience the peverse pleasures of breakers yards and botulism.
