maddog Posted 5 January 2010 Posted 5 January 2010 We should have beaten Ipswich at Portman Road in a 0-0 draw early on in the season, but missed chances cost us all the points. Our last 3 home games against them have ended well, 2 wins and 1 draw so we will want to keep that little unbeaten run going. Ipswich are actually now in form, recovered from their diastrous start to the season and are now a few points outside the relegation zone. 4 wins, 7 draws and just 1 defeat in their previous 12 League games have fired them out of hell, they also had a good away win at Blackpool in the Fa Cup on Saturday. So this game is not going to be as easy as some may have thought. Matt Oakley (The worst LCFC Captain in recent history) was a little premature when he said we were 'back on track' after the nightmares against Forest and Bristol. He said that after a win against one of the worst sides in the division currently, now though following that up with a good home performance and win against Sheffield United and another win from behind against Swansea, i would say we are now back on track. How the picture may have been different though had the 2 postponed away games been played, we could have lost them both quite easily and then carried on that bad run and lost to Swansea, for the moment though, the 2 postponed games have been a massive benefit to us, so far. Pearson should only have a few changes in mind for this game, although he may not change it at all. I would bring in N'Guessan and Kermo in for Howard and Oakley straight away. If Brown is back, i would bring him back in and make him captain. Which would be harsh on Morrison or Hobbs but we need a real captain on the field. Theres also a small chance Berner could be fit, if he is McGivern. Lloyd Dyer's place could be back under threat though, Gallagher could be back on the left wing but if i was NP i would stick with Dyer. I think we will be too strong for Ipswich regardless of their good form, i also think i will forget what day it is come Sunday due to the game being played on a Sunday We are going to win 2-0, Fryatt and Kermo will get his opening LCFC goal
StanSP Posted 5 January 2010 Posted 5 January 2010 They're on a good run of form and Keane seems to have stabilised them. But think we'll turn them over in all honest. 3, maybe 4-0. Fryatt getting 2, King and Hobbs on scoresheet.
john_lcfc Posted 5 January 2010 Posted 5 January 2010 what do we think the attendance will be bearing in mind the crap weather, and poorly supported opposition and quite frankly unglamourous nature of the game. I think it'll be around 22,000.
fatmando Posted 5 January 2010 Posted 5 January 2010 Can't wait for this 1! Not been able to get to a live game since Forest and we all know how that went! Better wrap me and my son up warm tho', I bet it's f***ing freezing matchdays at the mo' isn't it? 2-0 Fryatt and Waggy
jonthefox Posted 5 January 2010 Posted 5 January 2010 i voted for a win, but then again i always do.. really looking forward to this one for some reason....maybe a bit of keane baiting, i dont know.
Tony Pine Posted 5 January 2010 Posted 5 January 2010 pity theyre not as garbage as they were...should still win tho. 2-0
MC Prussian Posted 5 January 2010 Posted 5 January 2010 Of course, I'd be nice to maintain another unbeaten streak and stay up there where we are right now. I also believe confidence is high, but Pearson will make sure players stay grounded with both feet and don't get carried away given our current league position and the recent FA Cup 3rd round success. The manager will probably have a fully-fit squad at his disposal, Waghorn's back from his three-match ban and maybe Berner can play for 60+ minutes again. The psychological factor (having two games in hand) could also already play a part and I think the team knows what they're capable of. None of them wants a F*4rst story repeated or getting played off the field by a mediocre team like Bristol City once more. Ipswich, albeit being on a high right now, can be beaten and we should've done it during the away fixture when the teams met at Portman Road earlier this season - if it hadn't been for our inability to create scoring chances. But they will be beaten. How great it'd be to punch Keane's club back to a relegation spot. Not that they deserve it, but he surely does. 3-1 to us. Fryatt, Waghorn and Dyer with the goals. The tameness is gone. Leicester City are back.
bigneville Posted 5 January 2010 Posted 5 January 2010 We've got to be looking to take 3 points from this game. Ipswich are on a decent bit of form, but this should be a convincing home win. Matt Oakley (The worst LCFC Captain in recent history) How many other captains have led the team to a domestic league title? Matt Oakley may not be having one of the best seasons footballing wise himself, but the current squad seems to have a great spirit and get along really well. This has to be some what down to the captain, and therefore your statement is an absolute joke.

Donut Posted 5 January 2010 Posted 5 January 2010 Thinking this one maybe a draw maybe a 1 1 we will see
Guest Mee-9 Posted 5 January 2010 Posted 5 January 2010 2-1 win, Neilson to open his account And Wellens, goal from a different midfielder please.
Simo86 Posted 6 January 2010 Posted 6 January 2010 I'm going for a 1-1 draw. Us to score first through Fryatt, with them scoring a late equaliser
maddog Posted 6 January 2010 Author Posted 6 January 2010 3-1 win, Howard hat-trick. If Howard ever scores another hat-trick for us again i will eat my own shit
NewquayFox Posted 6 January 2010 Posted 6 January 2010 2.0 to City, i fookin hate `Roy Keane` and hopefully he will drag `Ipshit` down to Division 1. ;0)
Bakey Posted 6 January 2010 Posted 6 January 2010 I'm thinking a 2-2 draw, perhaps ipswich the dominant side.
El Furio Posted 6 January 2010 Posted 6 January 2010 Can see us losing to be honest. Game will be scrappy with little quality and a 2-1 defeat. Hope i'm wrong.
AoWW Posted 6 January 2010 Posted 6 January 2010 If Howard ever scores another hat-trick for us again i will eat my own shit That hat-trick so has to happen now. C'mon Howard.
StanSP Posted 6 January 2010 Posted 6 January 2010 That hat-trick so has to happen now. C'mon Howard. I wouldn't literally want to see him eat his own shit...but it would be funny!
AoWW Posted 6 January 2010 Posted 6 January 2010 I wouldn't literally want to see him eat his own shit...but it would be funny! But getting him to eat someone else's would surely be far worse?
Ford Super Sunday Posted 6 January 2010 Posted 6 January 2010 But getting him to eat someone else's would surely be far worse? Was that a hint at you volunteering to provide the goods Walshie? You're either desperate to see him eat shit, or you just have a fetish
