Woollett's Wellies Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 His contract is up in the summer anyway so if we loaned him then possibly by the time he goes back we can get him for nothing anyway.Bit like Wayne Brown last year we loaned him then signed him for a small fee sometime later. Good point! I should read the link closer... I was seeing this as a temporary move to address other defensive issues.. I see from other sources that he can also play on the right. How effective he is there though is another thing entirely.
Toby or not Toby Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Might be birmingham putting it in the press to try and invite bids if were only wanting a loan move?

Woollett's Wellies Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 more effective than Nielsen, thats for sure. That's the thing I don't understand..... On present form and team selection we're saying... RB. Neilsen 'rested' and we play a centre back to replace him. CB. Brown plays but has real limitations. CB. Hobbs LB. McGiven plays because Bruno is injured...and, let's face it, McGivern has some serious short comings! But..We're looking to sign another Centre back? Surely the problem is down the sides? Particularly at RB.
whitlock Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Signing Taylor would free up Morrison from centre back to play as a right back! Cheaper option to loan out Taylor and free Morrison to play rb! Cheaper option that purchase another right back?
hackneyfox Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 A lot of people thought we started to struggle last season after we lost Davies. For me it was the loss of Tunchev that hit us hardest, we went back to having a defence incapable of passing the ball to a midfielder, they just hoofed it. Wellens has looked increasingly forlorn in midfield because of this. If Taylor can pass a la Tunchev then I think we will start to see a more creative midfield start to emerge.
JoeyB Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Well at least we don't need to think up a song for him, he can have Wayne Browns song
Ozwin Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 We need a defender so this would be a good buy, plus people fear him after the Eduardo thing. Good target if you ask me.

hackneyfox Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 <_<but it says he can play RB aswell? I'd hope we're not buying another centre half to play at right back. He's signed as a long term replacement for Tunchev, due to: Brown has gone off the boil Brown never has and never will pass a ball to a fellow Leicester player Hobbs has also gone off the boil and needs a Tunchev type besides him to improve his game and passing.
Declan1991 Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 does any1 no when tunchev or berner are back?
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 does any1 no when tunchev or berner are back? There is a Tunchev thread somewhere, which might say.
acooling08 Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Would be good but can't Nigel see that we need to strenghen midfield and upfront a lot more urgently?
ousefox Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Would be a good signing imo. We could do with somebody at CB who doesn't just hoof it.
ousefox Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 SkySports Transfer Clockwatch 15.55 Fit-again centre-back Martin Taylor has not travelled with Birmingham for their four-day training camp in Malta and is understood to be entering talks with Leicester over a move to the Walkers Stadium
Liamlcfc1 Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 does any1 no when tunchev or berner are back? seen tunchev yesturday at trianing ground he said hopes to be back in two week and bruno should be ok for next week
SemperEadem Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Would love him to sign, think he would be good addition to the squad.
Uncle Monty Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 seen tunchev yesturday at trianing ground he said hopes to be back in two week and bruno should be ok for next week Shit really? Tunchev back in two weeks?? That would be better than a new signing imo!
martyn Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Tunchev should be kept in cotton wool and eased back in through a couple of behind closed doors friendlies before considered for 1st team selection. He's too important to rush back, especially if we get Taylor in.
Woollett's Wellies Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 I wonder what's meant by 'Tunchev back in a couple of weeks'. Is that resuming full training? Back to full fitness? You've got to think that as we're interested in Taylor, who is really a CB who can play on the right, that it's going to be some time before Tunchev is back in contention?
dandannieldanok Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 If we got him on a free transfer then fine, but I certainly wouldn't want to see Martin Taylor replace either Morrison or Hobbs. Tbh I personally don't really see the point of this signing.

Particularly at RB. if you look at our squad as a whole, it need strengthening from front to back, i get the feeling the policy is to replace/augment whenever a suitable player is discovered and at the right price... seems like taylor is such a player, by the sounds of it he is better than brown and will probably be a good deal
MikeyT Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Shit really? Tunchev back in two weeks?? That would be better than a new signing imo! I agree with that, really hope he's back soon. He's a quality defender. Miss him being part of the team. And i can't remember who it was, but wasn't it Taylor who did Eduardo's' leg in?
Sods Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 seen tunchev yesturday at trianing ground he said hopes to be back in two week and bruno should be ok for next week Thats strange after pretty much been written of for the season by others.
