lildave3 Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 I like how they use 'City' and 'Blues' to try and describe the two. Helpful.
davieG Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 He wont fit in! Although Taylor is a tall defender, he is composed in possession and has been criticised in the past for trying to play too much football from the back.
norfolkfox222 Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Solid defender but surely a attacking option is more of an importance!!
Simo86 Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Its now on the Sky Sports News Transfer Clockwatch, but it just says that sources in the media suggest......
Leicfox Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Solid defender but surely a attacking option is more of an importance!! This. Although i like the sound of a big 6ft 4 defender called Tiny.
Guest Bilo Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 We could do with someone who's good and strong in the tackle. Nah, he's a good defender to be fair. Passes the ball well, tackles better than the Eduardo incident would have you believe and generally looks comfortable at Premiership level. If we do get him he'll coast the Championship and beef up our defence meaning we could drop Brown against pacey attacks and have Morrison at right-back. Be a good signing.
Fosse Boy Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 I like how they use 'City' and 'Blues' to try and describe the two. Helpful. That's down to the fact that Rob Tanner's a Brummie. Always called Birmingham 'Blues' when I met him. Would be pleased with Taylor.
Simo86 Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Solid defender but surely a attacking option is more of an importance!! I wouldn't say that. We haven't got a lot of defensive cover. Taylor would be a very good signing.
Alexikokopops Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Imagine him and Wayne Brown at the back. Broken legs left, right and centre.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Solid defender but surely a attacking option is more of an importance!! That's a fair point but with the defence looking more than a little shakey at the minute you cannot blame him for looking to address that area, and I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that it's easier and cheaper to shore up a backline than solve your goalscoring problems. Who's to say this isn't being looked at too, anyway?
StanSP Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Imagine him and Wayne Brown at the back. Broken legs left, right and centre. What I was thinking. Lethal. Only way to stop the faster strikers.
lcfc_jme Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Hobbs and Taylor at centre-half would be brilliant when playing against teams with quicker forwards that Brown couldn't kick lumps out of.
Lillehamring Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Solid defender but surely a attacking option is more of an importance!! not at all, we barely have enough defenders to make up a back 4, and those we have are pretty much 'doing their best', and lets not forget the 8 goals shipped in 2 games a few weeks back... meanwhile, up front we have excellent competition for places, and several different attacking options. the problem with the lack of goals, is the lack of delivery and support for the forwards, and that starts at the back... whilst the back for are keeping a lot of teams at bay they are not providing the support to the midfield for the midfield to function properly, and so on... personally, i'd like to see a few decent/alternative style midfielders being mentioned. this guy sounds ok, but then again so did brown before he came - worried it could be more of the same, tho this guy can pass?
martyn Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Agree completely with Valerenga re the Defence having the ability to influence the pattern of play, it's why I think we miss Tunchev more than others perhaps do, his ability to calmly and accurately distribute from the back makes a big difference.
MC Prussian Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 I acknowledge the fact that Martin Taylor is able to deal with Brazilian-turns-Croatian divers and cheaters appropriately - but can he play football, too?
Shrenchel Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Eduaaaaaardo ooooh, Eduaaaaaardo ooooh. He used to have silky skills, now he walks like Heather-Mills.
Vlad The Impaler Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Eduaaaaaardo ooooh, Eduaaaaaardo ooooh. He used to have silky skills, now he walks like Heather-Mills. !!!
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Would be a good signing if it happens, we neede a defender and there are far worser than him. I'd have him ahead of Brown anyday of the week.
Woollett's Wellies Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 This one seems to be developing if this is accurate.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...r.html?ITO=1490 Wouldn't mind a loan but would rather we kept what little cash we have rather than buy.

His contract is up in the summer anyway so if we loaned him then possibly by the time he goes back we can get him for nothing anyway. Bit like Wayne Brown last year we loaned him then signed him for a small fee sometime later.
IOWFOX Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Anyone else skeptical about this? We all know that Pearson like's to keep his transfer dealings out of the press, leaving my unsure if this is going to amount to anything
MPH Posted 20 January 2010 Posted 20 January 2010 Imagine him and Wayne Brown at the back. Broken legs left, right and centre. flippin Heck. Might as well issue them with AK-47's if we are going for that combination
