marko Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 Completely slipped under the radar, but wales won earlier. And NF - if you were 1 in 1998 then you've got to be 14, in which case isn't it a little defeatist to be giving up hope so early? Nah, he's a realist, not a fantasist.

We don't have a good enough strikeforce at the minute. With better strikers we wouldn't of needed to beat Spain because we'd of beat Lithuania away and killed off the Czech at home. Think Wales are a better team for the future than us at the minute.
Finnegan Posted 11 October 2011 Author Posted 11 October 2011 Think Wales are a better team for the future than us at the minute.

I dunno, we've got a nice group for WC2014, we should be able to reach the play-offs at least.
Alexikokopops Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 I dunno, we've got a nice group for WC2014, we should be able to reach the play-offs at least. This is the funniest post tonight
purpleronnie Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 I agree decent group for the scots, besides the euro championships are a mickey mouse tournament anyway.
Corky Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 I dunno, we've got a nice group for WC2014, we should be able to reach the play-offs at least. We've got Euro 2012 first.
The Doctor Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 We've got Euro 2012 first. We're not all good enough to go and get screwdrivers driven through our heads by some mad fvckwit poles though. When it gets to a 16 team tournament, then we'll be slightly closer to getting there.
marko Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 This is the funniest post tonight Made me smile as well. Croatia, Serbia and Belgium. 4th place is there for the taking Al!
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 Gutted Scotland went out.................. Surprised Serbia havent made it, and that Denmark beat Portugal to put themselves through and send Portugal to the POs.
Finnegan Posted 11 October 2011 Author Posted 11 October 2011 Made me smile as well. Croatia, Serbia and Belgium. 4th place is there for the taking Al! Narh, that's ours. Macedonia are pretty decent as well. Honest to God, no trolling, Scotland could SERIOUSLY finish bottom of that group.

We say that every year though and every year we fail. We've got Wales in out group as a bottom seed and they ain't no bottom seed. Beating Bulgaria away and Switzerland are fantastic results and if it weren't for alien head they would of got a draw against England. I'm hopeful but not my hopes up for inevitable failure especially with Levein in charge,.
Narborough_fox Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 Narh, that's ours. Macedonia are pretty decent as well. Honest to God, no trolling, Scotland could SERIOUSLY finish bottom of that group. Serious fear for me. Especially if we play like we did against Lithuania away and Liechtenstein at home.
Finnegan Posted 11 October 2011 Author Posted 11 October 2011 If we'd have started the campaign as we finished it we would have come second, comfortably. Queue Father Ted's boring and clueless attempts at trolling, but we're quite comfortably a better side than Montenegro and comfortably handled Bulgaria, Switzerland and Montenegro the second time around and looked solid at Wembley. Tosh' pretty much single handedly ruined this campaign for us.
VinceNoir Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 HAVE THAT PORTUGAL!! Played off the park... EUROS, HERE WE COME! Brilliant performance!! Well chuffed!

If we play at our best it'll be a great game between the 2 of us but we haven't been at our best for a while now and don't think we will be until we get rid of the clueless management we have at the minute and bring in someone useful. Hopefully Coyle might leave Bolton soon and we'll see sense and approach him as he really is a brilliant manager.
Bert Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 San Marino will take over Scotland in the FIFA rankings soon.
Corky Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 Hopefully Coyle might leave Bolton soon and we'll see sense and approach him as he really is a brilliant manager. He's going to Arsenal.
Narborough_fox Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 He's going to Arsenal. Where's that been said. Would be a good appointment for anyone, wasted at Bolton. The thing is we have EIGHT managers in the premier league and a manager at the top of the SPL (no mean feat I know) but yet we still can only attract Craig "4-6-0" Levein as our manager. I always used to think it was a highlight of a footballing career to play/ manage an international team and now it just seems players and managers would rather sacrifice that for a bigger cheque and that's one of the things ruining the Scotland squad. The only player who stood up tonight was Captain fantastic Fletcher who rose from his sick bed once more and played brilliantly as he always does for club and country.

You take out a few key individuals (who are conveniently "injured" around the time of international season) and we're practically Sunday league.
Asha Posted 11 October 2011 Posted 11 October 2011 Owen Coyle would be a good fit for Scotland, but he's hardly 'wasted at Bolton' mate. If he's so fantastic, why are Bolton bottom of the league?
