Guest ttfn Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 It's good on paper, but that means f* all. Jacobsen (Everton/Blackburn/West Ham reject) - Kjær (Utter fail at Wolfsburg) - Bjelland (who?) - Silberbauer (again, who?) This lineup kept Ronaldo, Nani & Co completely quiet. They could've kept on for another 90 minutes and Portugal still wouldn't have won. Just goes to show what a 'team on paper' means. I find it ironic that a man named Bjelland kept Nani and Ronaldo quiet
purpleronnie Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Who do you think will finish lower then? Doesn't matter does it, I'll take a bet if you want.

FoxyPV Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Another playoff defeat beckons. It's hearbreaking being an Ireland and Leicester fan. We're absolutely awful to watch.
Bert Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Really hope ROI get Estonia, with all due respect to Estonia, ROI should get through.
StanSP Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 ROI seeded, along with Portugal, Croatia and Czech Republic. Out of Turkey, Estonia, Bosnia and Montenegro, I think they'd find it easiest against Estonia. I'd quite like Ireland to get through. I reckon Portugal will have a bit of trouble against any of the other 3 should Ireland get Estonia.
The Doctor Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 potential of Croatia v Bosnia or Montenegro - absolute carnage. The Czech's have no hope unless they draw Estonia or get Blom as ref for both legs.

The Doctor Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Aren't both Serbia and Croatia in your 2014 group aswell? That will be carnage! And Macedonia. What I'm hoping for is something massive to kick off and the three of them get ejected from the qualifying - then we might have a slim chance of making it.

Narborough_fox Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Still eating them sour grapes I see. Every Scot until 2014 qualifying kicks off will be eating "Sour Grapes". We'd be in the play-offs (where we'd lose) if it wasn't for Blom.

Although I know what you're saying, the Czechs were looking likely to score before the "ref ruined the game" and it isn't like Scotland dived in the box to try and win a penalty (blatant dive) You should more likely be blaming that disgusting 4-6-0 formation in the reverse fixture, or one of the other fixtures you didn't get the result you needed.

You should more likely be blaming that disgusting 4-6-0 formation in the reverse fixture. With 2 minutes left I was so confident of a win, the penalty a dive. Our shout, less of a dive and no penalty. That 4-6-0 really was horrendous. Craig "4-6-0" Levein.

Not to mention three very narrow wins against Lithuania and Liechtenstein. The fact Liechtenstein had a better h2h record against the Lithuanians speaks volumes of how shit they were... Nah, I won't get on Scotland's back. After all, they did win against us in very convincing fashion in that friendly some months back ...
Alexikokopops Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 I stick by my comment that Serbia have arguably the best backline in the world. Not many countries can boast to have a backline of Man U's captain, a Chelsea player who has made it into the Premiership team of the year, a Man City defender and a rock at the heart of the Bundesliga champions defence. look at scotlands defence haha looks like a championship defence to me Seems that Serbia don't have Man Utd's captain anymore... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/8821753/Manchester-United-defender-Nemanja-Vidic-set-to-retire-from-international-football-after-Serbias-Euro-2012-failure.html
MC Prussian Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Seems that Serbia don't have Man Utd's captain anymore... http://www.telegraph...12-failure.html Retiring from international football at age 29... In the same article, he goes on to claim that Slovenia had only "pride" to play for. So much for your own Serbian pride, Nemanja...
Leicester Lass Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Retiring from international football at age 29... In the same article, he goes on to claim that Slovenia had only "pride" to play for. So much for your own Serbian pride, Nemanja... It wasn't Vidic who said that... Slovenia, who had only pride to play for, produced an outstanding performance while we had dropped points in places we shouldn't have before we came to what was always going to be a difficult away match in Maribor," Stankovic added.

So much for your own Serbian pride, Nemanja... He clearly doesn't want to play for his country. Either that or he can't bear the shame of that missed peno. [Pedant] Oh and it was Stankovic that said the above [\Pedant]
Donut Posted 12 October 2011 Posted 12 October 2011 Ireland will want Estonia no doubt. I would definitely NOT want the prospect of Turkey or Bosnia
MC Prussian Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 It wasn't Vidic who said that... Oops - my bad. Still a bit chicken to opt out at his age.
Wycombe Fox Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 UEFA disciplinary panel meets this afternoon to discuss Rooney's suspension. Wouldn't be surprised if it's three games.
Corky Posted 13 October 2011 Posted 13 October 2011 Definitely, and having the second leg at home too.
