samlcfc Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 Someone at my old college did work experience there I think. Can't remember what though. Might have been to do with serving food on matchdays
Shrenchel Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 I thought you didn't get paid for work experience?! Why would you do it in a shop? Where you could probably just get a job on Saturdays if you really wanted it anyway? Do you have low self-esteem?

College said he needed to do it, and had a weekend to find a placement. So he applied for a weeks work at the place he worked on a Saturdays. The school sent the the shop a letter saying he can't get paid for it. So he had to do a week unpaid work, and he only got payed for his saturday job. You should try other places than shops kid. I went to my former school. Had a great week. My Brother's doing work experience this June. He told me that his mate is working in a library for a week.

Work experience isnt the be all and end all its just about gaining some experience of being in a work environment. My Nephew had the best work experience ever! A week at Harlequins rugby club then a week at Chelsea FC helping the ground staff. (his Dad is a groundsman and had some contacts!) He got the assistant groundsman job at Fulham at 19 years old. Dead proud of him
Samilktray Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 I did work experience at Boots, got sacked after 3 days the bastards.

Matt Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 My weeks work experience was for a builders, during the 2002 World Cup (I think, must have been) whenever there was an afternoon with a game on we had the afternoon off
Daggers Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 Maybe. I'll need to photos or at least honest measurements. Knowing Singh, I think you may regret asking for that.
Joe. Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 My work experience was spending a fortnight in an office. Worst two weeks ever.
Asha Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 I spent two weeks at Alliance and Leicester. Nice insight into that type of work but I wasn't really able to do anything due to confidentiality and all that.
Samilktray Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 dare we ask what for? Stuck me n the other lad on work experience in the stock room everyday and told us to make ourselves look busy, fell sleep in there on the Wednesday after starting on the Monday. Enjoyed it
Uncle Albert Posted 15 February 2010 Posted 15 February 2010 I done my work experience at the ECB at Loughborough Uni.
lavrentis Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Worked in a gym cleaning the sweat off all the machines, helping all the fat people onto the bikes and watching the old people in the swimming pools. Was very nice.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Did mine a well known radio station it was great even got to say "it's 12 past 3 and you're listening to 3MP EASY LISTENING next up is Neil Diamond". The best part was spending a whole day with the guy who does the love song dedications at night time. He was the funniest bloke going around and not who you would expect the love doctor to be. Going thru his fan male was very fun and even got given one of the gift baskets to keep.
Sly Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 Our work experience placement was selected for us. I got allocated to working on a quarry weigh bridge. I just found it all a little odd at the time, from what I remember about it, I just sat around and didn't do a great deal. They wouldn't even allow me to make the tea! The highlight of my week was a tour of the quarry! I remember the Manager of the weigh bridge getting very upset with me on the Thursday when he found me filling out my "experience handbook", which we were given to detail what we'd done each day. He didn't appreciate the fact mine was practically empty ....... what did he expect!! I sat around for a bloody week!!
Guest Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 What happened to writing or phoning on spec to see if somewhere could offer work experience? Don't people use their own initiative these days?
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 There's nothing mega about the City megastore.
CosbehFox Posted 16 February 2010 Posted 16 February 2010 What happened to writing or phoning on spec to see if somewhere could offer work experience? Don't people use their own initiative these days? I did that. Ended up at Hinckley Times for three days, had a good time and had the 2 other days off! Also did County FA on unpaid work experience for a fair few weeks, twice a week.
