Dan Posted 7 March 2010 Posted 7 March 2010 I think its reached the time we make Coventry a proper rivalry, not just some local game. One of the worst things about being a Leicester fan really is the lack of rivalries, theres Derby and Forest which are the obvious shouts, but they quite clearly hate each other more than they hate us, and will not have a one on one rivalry with Leicester. What I just don't get is why our fans don't seem bothered about them lot down the M69. We have been playing in the same divison for the majority of the last 20 years, but as a rivalry it has never caught on with them, I hate their guts personally, but a lot of our fans don't seem too bothered. This thread obviously isn't going to start a rivalry with them, but I really can't understand it, they hate us as much as they hate anyone, yet there we are hating teams that aren't that bothered. Don't quite get it.
Fosse Boy Posted 7 March 2010 Posted 7 March 2010 Done. To. Death. If people cared about Coventry they'd make the effort to be at least up on their feet when we play them away. At the end of the day, there's no point in hating anyone just so you can have some kind of contrived mutual rivalry. That's not how rivalry works.

I dont like Forest or Derby but have respect for them as they do get good crowds and have had some success albeit under Clough years ago. Cov get shit crowds week in week out, and are one of the luckiest teams ever in terms of not going down I have ever known. I agree though, lets hate Cov more!

What reason do you have to hate them? It's silly. I dislike F*rest and D*rby because I'm envious of the success that these two small provincial clubs had under Clough. I dislike them because of their younger generation of fans who bang on about said achievements like thy happened in their lifetime. I dislike them because of their sheer fucking arrogance. I have no reason to hate Coventry. It would be totally irrational for me to do so.
Dan Posted 7 March 2010 Author Posted 7 March 2010 AFIE you have a good point, but in my opinion Cov are a very dislikable side, they are small time, lucky, and seem to have an obsession with calling all Leicester fans inbreds, far more than any other team has referred to another side as anything else. I see what you mean, but the fact is, Derby and Forest aren't that bothered.

Corky Posted 7 March 2010 Posted 7 March 2010 Personally I can't stand them, one of the worst matches I've been to was when they beat us 3-0 at Filbert St in the Cup. Horrible day. To me it is an important match, beating them is great, but I also see why fans aren't bothered about them. You can't just "hate" someone for the sake of it, I was brought up to dislike Coventry, as well as Forest and Derby, so that's where my feelings come from.
lcfc_jme Posted 7 March 2010 Posted 7 March 2010 Cov are actually just another team with cuntish fans that aren't really worth hating. They're like a scruffy younger brother in that they're annoying but don't stop you getting laid so you can live with them. Derby and Forest, though, they're actually clubs worth hating. Because they're more than just cunts; arrogant, delusional, self-obsessed, inbred, disabled-infested chavvy little gobshites who'd 6-finger your bird and then wipe their cocks on your pillows. Vile specimens.
Tommeh Posted 7 March 2010 Posted 7 March 2010 Coventry mean fu ck all to me personally and I won't visit their ground again. Compare Forest to Cov - If we wanted we could have taken 5,000 to Cov we sold what 4,300?? For a game 20 miles a away, yeah huge support that. Forest tickets sold out on priority 3 season tickets. Coventry attracts families on a day out who sit down. Forest everyone stands, not much colour etc.. I've been started on whilst out and had my window hit repeatedly at 3am by Cov fans this year but they just don't get it. They're meaningless tinpot idiots who once won the FA Cup I believe.
Liamlcfc1 Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 my grandad lives in cov and when i go i put my leicester shirt on when we do his shoping at the tesco near the richo get some bad looks thats why i do it the best thing about cov is when we leave the roads are crap
Shrenchel Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 Couldn't really give a fvck about them, there's other teams outside the Midlands who I dislike more than Cov to be honest. Might be nice to have a more fierce rivalry but it's just not there. As others have said, the away games there are about as hostile as a kinder suprise. You can't manufacture that stuff and it seems less common for new rivalries really develop now that large scale off-field antics are rare and most fans look down on that sort of carry on. If we got them in the play-offs it might liven things up a bit I guess.
Russell352 Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 I *might go posting abuse on their forums just to stir it up.
ta-fc Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 I hate Cov for two reasons... 1) There the most racist fan's outside London 2) Three of there 'top boys' gave me a kicking whilst I was out once!! Absolute Scum!!!!! There's a reason why everyone takes the piss about being 'sent to Coventry'
Matt Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 Always hated them, due to my location i'm not so bothered about Derby or Forest unlike many of you, In recent years i've become more bothered about Derby and Forest because my old boss was a Derby fan, and I've worked with Forest fans recently. Yes Covscum are a tin-pot, nothing club but I can't help hating them.
Kilworthfox Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 Cov are actually just another team with cuntish fans that aren't really worth hating. Vile specimens. Cov hating is utterly pointless. Cov are a team of losers, when was the last season they finished in the top half of any division? They are crap! I live nearer to cov thsn Derby or nottingham, but where I live there are some sheep shagger or tree ****ers about but no sky blues!
sw_fox Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 Yes their city is a toilet, Yes their club is tinpot, Yes they are actually closer to us than Notts or Derby, Yes their fans are scumbags but is there any point in hating a club for the sake of it? Actually in Coventry's case it looks like there is.
C-man Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 Personally, I hate Cov at least as much as I hate Forest but it's obvious that on a general scale from our part, the rivalry's not there. Yes we take numbers and they like to get round the away end at the Ricoh (or fight in Earsldon), but if the same lads who turn out for Forest away turned out for Cov away then our allocation would have been limited by now. Having worked in their shithole of a city for 4 years and knowing what their pathetic, racist and inherently vile fans are like, I'd challenge anyone else to do the same and not hate them.
Guest Bilo Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 Coventry are a silly little nothing club, whose only claims to fame include 30 odd years of making up the numbers in the top tier and fluking an FA Cup 23 years ago thanks to a freak own goal. Their crowds are shit, their fans are shit, their ground is shit and since they were relegated from the Premiership their team has been shit. 22,000 would be the kind of attendance we'd expect for clubs lower in the league, yet that was the attendance at the Ricoh in October. And it was considered a good turn-out. Their fans are the main reason to dislike them. Constantly trying to whip up a rivalry and hating us for hatred's sake, the racism of the twats that has already been mentioned and that fucking awful song a handful of their fans sing in their poor imitation of L1 at the Ricoh. Their away support is little better and you can guarantee they won't come anywhere near selling out. They'll bring about 2500 for what is their biggest away of the season in terms of rivalry whereas we take almost twice that to the corresponding fixture, a game we've shown we couldn't really care less about. It's a tinpot club for sure, but it's difficult not to dislike fans who display such idiocy. After all, how many of us can honestly say we like Millwall? Nothing to do with their proud history or jealousy for certain, but their fans inspire little but contempt. Cov are the Midlands equivalent.
Bluefoxtim Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 I don't really give a crap about any other team. I'm not going to 'pretend' to hate another club just because some feel we should have a rival.
CosbehFox Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 I have to visit the place once a week for three years and probably will for the next four years. In my time, actually meeting Cov City fans has been rare. I was in the same class as one for two years but he only revealed himself during that cup run when they finally managed to sell out the Ricoh against Chelsea. It says a lot about them and he was a bit of a nobber. They have the catchment area of Warwick, Leamington, Kenilworth and can't manage to keep crowds up to our size. It's a horrid city with quite a lot of horrid folk. It's rare you see a bird of actual beauty or someone who looks intelligent. Every road in and out of the place is hardly pleasant to boot. They are the definition of average. You almost want to class them as insignificant but I can't, I really can't. I hate them! As for rivals, they always have particular to the invidiual person. I am sure Wednesday fans have it when they look past Sheff Yoo.

Hugo Sanchez Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 Yeah we don't hate cov. we just make threads saying how much we don't care about them and we should sing we only care about forest ... Come on, this is like going on to a forest forum but replace Cov with Leicester. I hate Coventry.
hackneyfox Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 There's a RUMOUR GOING ROUND (GOING ROUND) Robert Maxwell's GONE AND DROWNED (GONE AND DROWNED) And Arthur Cox has got the fooking pox Derby County's going down (going down) One of my all time favourite chants
