Fox92 Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 I have always disliked Coventry the most. Obviously, Derby/Forest is one of the biggest in the country and we are not really within that bracket. Hence, the "we only hate Derby" song by the Nottingham Forest fans the other week. Coventry is perhaps "the one" but then again do Coventry count themselves with Birmingham and Villa or is it just Birmingham/Villa, leaving it Coventry/Leicester. I am not totally sure who are rivals are but I do count Coventry as the main. Perhaps, it would be Peterborough and Northampton if they were always in the same league as us. Leicester are not just the only side though, look at Walsall. It's West Brom/Wolves, Birmingham/Villa and they are right in the middle.
StanSP Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 Cos Walsall are in lower leagues and rarely play against said 4 teams, so no need for the hatred I guess.

Kilworthfox Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 I am not totally sure who are rivals are In my opinion Forest = Location & Traditional main rival. Derby = Location & in my lifetime we played them many times Lesser extent... Villa = Location Stoke = Their fans share the single braincell Leeds = Hate them & their obnoxious fans Coventry = Location, but they were a top div side in the 80's & 90's where we just yoyo'd, they have always been so shit. Even Lesser extent... Brum = Location Northampton = Location Posh = Location Wolves = 90's Bull & Walsh Chelsea = Old hooligan rivalry Portsmouth = Back when we were both looking to get promoted in 2003 a rivalry grew Rivalries are IMO all about location, the amount of games your club has played against the teams (I.E Divisions), Run ins with opposition fans = this can be at work, down the pub, family etc... Also
willchafer Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 i think that they are looking for a rival but are failing by the sounds of it.
Daggers Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 One of the worst things about being a Leicester fan really is the lack of rivalries Is it?
Guest nathan. Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 Cov are not worth hating they define 'nothing club' Stoke on the other hand.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 However in relation to where I live I hate Cov more and their fans seem to. They think they're definites for the playoffs.
jonthefox Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 Its all swings and roundabouts isnt it. cov hate villa, who in turn hate brum more.We hate forest, who hate derby. so were kind of lumped together all for the sake of a bit of rivalry. But personally, cov mean nowt to me.
Bert Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 You shouldn't try to hate a team so we can have a local derby. A lot of the younger supporters think Cov are our main rivals, but for me it's always Forest. We didn't really ever care about Cov until perhaps post 2000, whereas I'm lead to believe the "rivalry" with Forest has been a lot more fierce, for a lot longer.
lcfcadam Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 If the younger fans feel that Cov is a bigger derby and a stronger rivalry, what's wrong with that? Things can't stay the same forever. To be fair Coventry's possibly marginally closer than Nottingham or Derby, and I personally think the "M69 Derby" has quite a good ring to it ( already preparing for a mountain of abuse...). I can't really tell who I hate more - all I know is it'd feckin' terrible if we lost to Cov live on BBC!
lavrentis Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 Bit Ironic how we hate Forest and they "don't care" about Leicester and how we "don't care" about Coventry but they hate us but I don't really give a shit. I'd rather love Leicester than hate any other team
AoWW Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 I wish someone would tell me who to hate... it's a decision I don't feel capable of making myself.
Daggers Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 This thread makes me cringe. More or less than the City-Forest DVD?
MrBojangles Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 Why all the hate? Why can't we all just get along? After all, I don't hate people who work at a rival company to me. They are only a rival because they sell a similar product or service. Hell, if I was with a Cov fan now, I would give them a hug and a tickle and tell them everything is going to be alright

Finnegan Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 More or less than the City-Forest DVD? The City-Forest DVD ultimately wasn't the fan's fault and the fans are the true essence of the club. I don't blame the City-Forest DVD on the supporters or the players or anything that really matters. The City-Forest DVD was just simply yet another example of the rampant money-spinning gone mad in the sport. Other clubs' fans can take the piss all they want, I don't feel any particular embarrassment for that DVD. Sadness, perhaps, but not shame. Edit: Just to add, if anyone actually bought the DVD and took pride in it - that's when I'd feel embarrassed.
Bert Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 is the game actually on the beeb then? i thought it had just been moved because of the police. It sure is.

Also Most people around Hinckley view Coventry as the main rivals because its about a 50/50 split. Talkin of Chelsea(old hooligan rivalry) .. Do/Did they care about us? And is the BabySquad still active.. i know they were at Cov the other year, but after some got arrested n with us having the 4th most bannin orders in the championship, are the originals still around and active ?
Nick Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 I think its reached the time we make Coventry a proper rivalry, not just some local game. One of the worst things about being a Leicester fan really is the lack of rivalries, theres Derby and Forest which are the obvious shouts, but they quite clearly hate each other more than they hate us, and will not have a one on one rivalry with Leicester. What I just don't get is why our fans don't seem bothered about them lot down the M69. We have been playing in the same divison for the majority of the last 20 years, but as a rivalry it has never caught on with them, I hate their guts personally, but a lot of our fans don't seem too bothered. This thread obviously isn't going to start a rivalry with them, but I really can't understand it, they hate us as much as they hate anyone, yet there we are hating teams that aren't that bothered. Don't quite get it. Dan. Hate is not helpful. What sort of rivalry were you hoping for?
Brainy Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 It sure is. anybody link me then cause there's nothing on the bbc website. I thought it was just a rumour.
