Yeah i agree, Mcgivern is one of the shittest footballers i've ever seen. He will end up in the non league thats for sure. Alan Rogers or John Curtis i would rather have playing then this pathetic excuse for a left back. I'm going to keep booing him and jeering him untill he's fook off back to Man City.

Also to that disabled who said non of us couldn't do better, well we're not pro footballers are we ? I'm sure he's really not bother what our fans think of him because he's not our player.

I hope the booing shall remain, always good to have a boo boy. Its healthy and a good part of football.

All this slagging is making my nipples leak into my sugarpuffs

Sorry, but as bad as McGivern is he is still better than Neilson. No question. Especially considering Neilson has had 10+ years in the game whereas McGivern has been a pro for 5 minutes.

Completely disagree personally. Neilson is far more pro-active in defence, he at least tries to tackle people and tries to cut out crosses e.t.c.

Geez how long is this hatefest going to run?

For as long as he performs this dreadfully. The lad has got to sort himself out, nobody's asking for him to be better than Bruno Berner, but people just want some kind of general competence, it's not even asking much.

The ironic thing is that last night was actually one of his better performances, yet he still cost us a goal and got continually tore apart in the 2nd half.

Last night I praised McGivern and criticised from what I saw. Unfortunately it seemed to me that the negatives outweighed the positives.

I feel for him in the respect that his main rival is a fan's favourite and one of our most dependable players currently, it will always be tough for him to win over the fans.

I would like him to do well, don't want any player to struggle, but really the sooner Bruno is back the better for all concerned.

He's a waste of space. I wouldn't say that about Neilson who has had rough treatment in my opinion.

The basic job of a full back is to stop crosses. Neilson does this. McGivern takes the 'back' part a bit too literally and jockeys fresh air like he has never played in the position before.

From what I've seen it's pure fluke that he is making a career out of football. It's an even bigger fluke that he has not very clearly cost us goals by being so bad at his job.

I get what people are saying about not moaning at the games, that it is detrimental, I would never do that. I also admire the kind of blind faith in fans shown in this thread. However, expecting football people to keep quiet on a forum about someone SO inept is too much to ask. Anyone who thinks he is anything above poor knows nothing about football in my opinion, and I feel very strongly about that. As a result I feel embarrassed that he is part of my team and would send him back in a Eastlands in an instant.

Most horrific left back since Julian Bennett.

Agreed.

Singing his name every game might boost his confidence for 10 minutes at the beginning of the match, but as soon as he gets torn apart 3 or 4 times in a row, fails to block crosses, misses tackles and interceptions and loses the ball (like he generally does), his confidence will be shot again. He's not good enough at this stage in his career to be playing for a promotion chasing Championship team. Every game he plays he ends up sticking out like a sore thumb for being the worst player on the pitch. Cheering his name won't make any difference. You can put me in Barcelona's team and cheer me every match but I'll still be shit, just like McGivern is with us.

The sooner he's gone the better.

Everyone in the stands can see how shit he is so obviously Nigel can too

Booing him will help nothing what so ever

and will probably end up being counter productive

I trust Nigel to do the right thing, he's the one who watches the players train all week and he's the one who's going to know who is the best person to play left back at the club

so let him get on with it

Problem for us is that we don't have anyone to play aside from McGivern... if we did I'm sure Nigel might play them.

And for God's sake don't say Powell as as much of a legend he is, he's clearly not going to cut it anymore. He'd be getting skinned just as much as McGivern is at the moment! :giggle:

The thing is, I don't think that people are denying the empirical evidence that Mr McGivern is completely out of his depth, but the problem is we have nobody that can come in and do a job while Bruno is injured. If we were a midtable side playing for nowt I'd throw grandpa Powell in just for sentimental reasons, but we gunning for the play-offs. McGivern is the best we have in our current predicament.

Despite the barrage of criticism of the lad I can still see him having a decent career at CB at this level. He has the attributes for that; decent in the air and quick - two huge assets for centre backs. That said, his current lack of any sort of positional sense is astronomically and massively disastrous. I still believe he'll come good sometime.

Come on Hugo.

I thought stupid posts like this were reserved for the "500 posts and under" crowd. (Not all, i hasten to add!)

I think Mcgivern is pretty poor too but i would never boo a player of ours when at a match. Never.

Healthy to have a boo-boy in your own team? Utter bo****ks!!

Some supporters, fans must think our players are made of f***ing stone and don't get affected by the things they hear on match day. Well they do.

Imagine going to work every day, (and it's a job you are not best qualified for), but you really think you could step up and prove that you can do as good a job as you can for the company, and for yourself.

Now imagine that after a while you realised that maybe you weren't as good as you thought, and you made a couple of mistakes, but now the whole company is jeering at you, shouting how shit you are. Scumbags!

Love the idea of a chant for him. Positive breeds positive. If that doesn't work then we part company with him.

As i said, i personally think Ryan is a Championship player at best but so what. He's achieved more than i , and a lot of other fookers on here will ever achieve in their chosen profession.

I will be thinking of a positive chant for Mcgivern. Hopefully for the diamond in the rough to emerge. If he's not good enough, we all know he won't stay. DON'T BOO THE BOYS YA FOOKERS! :scarf:

Not only that, but a lot of players especially the younger lads do read fans forums like this and when they read all this barrage of abuse directed at them it does have a negative effect.. That is why I hate singling out younger players for venomous criticism. It's counter-productive.

Well said. I did mean to mention, that more LCFC players log on to FT than most supporters realise.

YA NEED TO COOL YA BOOTS! SELF HATERS.

If players read this forum, that's their choice. Back in the pre-internet days when the only written word came from the newspapers, you would hear players/managers say how they never read the papers. Well the same principle applies now to the internet - if you don't want to read criticism (even when most of it is justified), don't log on to fans' forums.

This place is for fans to express themselves - we shouldn't have to curb our thoughts and censor our posts just because some of the Leicester players log on.

Being booed in the first few minutes of a game, and probably hearing the groans before a match even starts

I thought it was quite funny before Coventry.

"And there's been a late change to the Leicester lineup. Bruno Berner is to be replaced by Ryan McGivern." Cue 20,000 disappointed 'ahhhhhhhh's.

I can see it now: McGivern scores the winner in the play-off final against Forest.

From zero to HERO - Just like that!

On a side note, I've been up since 5 and dare not wander too far from the loo.

Would be mental. Stoppage time winner, runs down the touchline with his hand to his ear.

You'd probably find this more enjoyable:

I really do admire your self-control and will power, Anish, as I am sure you would have no problem avoiding such places were you a professional footballer.

McGiven is probably the worst defender I have ever seen play in a city shirt, even after Junior Lewis who played as makeshift a few times (like the Bolton home defeat first game of the season)

At least some of the other poorer players had a slight sense of positioning, but McGiven has absolutely none. Fair enough you say he is young, learning his trade, but is now really the time to do it? He'd be better off in the reserves to at least learn SOME positioning sense. He is often found just watching the ball fall, glued to the ground. He is causing the other players to do 2 jobs.

He shows no promise at all, he is completely useless. 'You wouldn't last 10 minutes on a football pitch' is such a laughable argument. Why not play anybody then if we adopt such a defeatist mentality? Oh he's alright, he's only young, just learning, I bet he's doing better than you could'.... Pillocks.

Most ridiculous post I've read on here in ages

I can recall McGivern making at least two fantastic tackles on Wednesday night.

How dare he? How dare he have the nerve to do something right. People might not have anyone to have a go at if he carries on improving like this.

And the winner was definitely his fault. What was he doing running around on the left hand side for? Twat. I bet he told Solano to foul him.

In all seriousness, Left back is such a vital position for us. The whole team looks to have more confidence when Berner plays.

it was the same when tunchev played last season.

Granted that might be the lower standard of play in league 1 than the championship but it's more likely to be the fact that the team knows if they make a mistake they had someone behind them who could get them out of trouble and distribute the ball well, getting the team going again.

tbh McGivern doesn't look anywhere near doing this because, although he has improved over the last two games, he drifts about too much almost following the ball. Which probably comes from a lack of experience but could just as easily come from wanting to get in the action, impress and get the fans off his back.
