MC Prussian Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 It's teams like Cardiff that'll fit in well in the Premier League. Cheating, diving, moaning, falling down. They have the players to sustain maybe two years max at that level. As for tonight's game, I recall a few heroics and highlights: Fryatt scoring after such a long period of absence. Great effort. Howard posed such a threat to the Cardiff defense - he got back just in time. King making it 3-1 against a Welsh side. He just loves us too much. Thank you. Wellens never gave up, what a fighting display. Commitment monster and that with a cramp in extra time. Did you see how he managed to win those one-on-ones on one leg only? Bruno Berner ran his socks off - how he managed to pull off that stunt across two thirds of the pitch towards the end in extra time, I'll never know. Alex Bruce, Yann Kermorgant and Martyn Waghorn the unlucky ones. But I still want them to be with this club comes next season. Bruce played well in the first leg and could be Brown's/Tunchev's replacement. Kermorgant has potential as a utility player and could take over Howard's role (should the latter leave the club in the summer). Waghorn - fans' favourites, decent lad and a player with a bright footballing future.
Arkie Bennett Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 I blame the presenter on Sky, who mixed up his words before the match and said: "don't expect the unexpected."
dan411 Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 Well done to you guys today. That was the most nerve wracking match I've seen in my life... well, it's definitely well up there. You really hit us where it hurt when you actually did hit us, and after the first goal it was all what I least expected, and I think I speak for all Cardiff fans when I say that! I feel sorry that you lost on penalties - it must be a horrible feeling. But after all, those experiences make you tougher the next time around and I'm sure that time for you guys won't be too long if you play next season in the same way which you did tonight. Some of us are calling Kermogant cocky for the way in which he took his penalty. It can actually fool keepers who don't expect it, but David Marshall is one hell of a keeper. Waghorn's penalty was well hit, but sometimes the luck can be against you. For what it's worth, I like Waghorn as a player and if he's going back to Sunderland (or wherever you've got him from) then they're getting back a good young player. Still, it was a great tie. On a par with last night for quality but utterly surpassing it in terms of drama! Hope we won't be visiting you next year! Don't know if Cardiff will be able to get past the Tangerines, but we might give it a shot. Good luck to you next season!
BoneDog Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 I can't believe the rollercoaster of emotions we got during that match. The first 20 minutes I felt very down and was about to give up all hope and then all of a sudden things got exciting and I felt emotions I never knew existed. I don't think that I've felt quite like it for any game ever.

Good post however I must say that this: I didn't think we'd win at your place but I have said since the last day of the season that I'm certain Cardiff will beat Leicester back in Wales. did make me laugh when we went 3-2 up on aggregate. It just stuck in my mind for some reason.
Guest Bilo Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 So gutted but so proud of the lads tonight. For 20 minutes Cardiff raped us, yet as soon as Chopra scored, we sparked into life and absolutely killed them at times. Our passing became fluid and strong, we were imperious at set-pieces and we chased them down at every opportunity. At 3-1 it looked as though we could go on to humiliate them and by were they rattled. Chopra and Bothroyd throwing themselves on the floor at every opportunity, screaming in the pathetic Webb's face and passes going awry. It was spectacular. Then came the goal that equalised the tie again. All but three men in the stadium could see that Chopra was well offside in the build-up to the penalty, sadly those three men were the referee and his assistants. That seemed to knock the wind out of our sails for a while but we eventually settled and soon carried on where we left off, looking threatening and playing some good stuff. We were two kicks away from a Wembley final tonight just 12 months after coming up from a division that contained the likes of Cheltenham, Yeovil and Hartlepool. We are proud of our team and rightly so. Next season we can do it, the three relegated teams won't monopolise the automatic spots as Newcastle and West Brom have which gives us an awesome window of opportunity. Best of luck to Blackpool in the play-off final.
wc-remix Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 Got up at 4.30am to watch it here in Australia. Absolutely devastated. First we were down, then we were up and all over them, then the offside penalty, then extra time...and then penalties. The boys were magnificent. Howard was just exceptional. Fryatt, Spearing, Hobbs, Berner...absolutely everyone. Everyone played their heart out. Still cannot get over Kermo's penalty. I just don't understand what he was trying to do, we weren't up 5-0... 2 penalty shoot-out loses in the same season for me with Melbourne losing in the A-League final to Sydney. But still, very proud of the lads today. It's going to be a long day...
easilee Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 F**K OFF! Everyone in the f***kin league, just F**k off. Dodgy f***kin paid off f***kin sheep shaggin refs. [alledgedly], f**k off. British Football isTHE most f***kin corrupt sport on the f***kin planet.[Alledgedly] Did Leicester upset some f***kin bint of a witch 100 years ago, and the curse remains to this f***kin day? City.... You did us proud. I love you but i am gonna have to leave you. After 23 odd years of nearly's and almost's. Countless quids on games and shirts and travel, I don't think i can take any more. It's almost as if we are only ever gonna be a middling team from the midlands, who provide other teams with any talent that comes through our doors. NP is an advocate of cameras in the game. So am i. Have been for years. But it will never happen. Soccer is too corrupt to allow a device in the match that will show the truth. [Alledgedly] And the truth is WE WUZ ROBBED!!! And any Motherf***er who says any different can f**k off too. CONSPIRACY!! Dodgy F.A. C***TS.
Leeknffc Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 Unlucky Foxes. I'm not here to gloat (although I couldn't after last night) I just came to say penalties are a harsh way to go out. You've had a great season so don't feel too downbeat and I can see us both finishing around the top 6 next season.

Bugg Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 F@CK OFF!! Bit uncalled for, its not like he was taking the piss. fair play to him for not being one of the usual immature opposition cvnts we get.
dan411 Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 did make me laugh when we went 3-2 up on aggregate. It just stuck in my mind for some reason. I remembered that at 3-1 and felt like a right idiot! It goes to show how strange football is really. Anyhow, now this is over, who do you think will win the play-off final?
CKB Posted 12 May 2010 Posted 12 May 2010 I'm proud, gutted, angry, frustrated, etc, etc! Howard Webb's decisions were strange to say the least but not just to us i may add, the pen tho was a killer..it was a pen yes but it was offside, just cruicial decisions that didn't go with us in them 2 legs not just tonight.. We can rant on all we want about Chopra not getting booked, etc, etc...pointless in the end as they are not cruicial imo but the decisions that didn't go for us we have a right We played like warriors, battled, fought and would not give up and while Cardiff may have just shaded it terms of playing the better football our passion, commitment and play (at times) was great especially in the 2nd leg.. I can only be proud of that and the whole season Kermit: I am still fuming with what he did and i'm still calling you everything under the sun but i will get over that.. Some people say "oh if that pen had went in we would have been applauding it?" like bloody hell i'd have still be pissed off him even trying it because the case was he could have fooked it up and guess what he did.. In big matches like this you don't do that i'm sorry you just don't..if he would have smashed it down the middle and it was saved then well fine but what he did was mindless and he has alot of explaining to do not just to NP but every player that is part of LCFC and Milan! Howard: For his minus points during this season he showed just what a warrior he is tonight and for this reason i'd like him to remain at Leicester Waghorn: Gutted for him, he was let down by Kermit and the pressure was increased...but a very good save from a decent pen.. The lad was in tears, so much he was more or less carried from the pitch.. Thank you Wags for what you have done this season and i hope you comeback because Sunderland lad or not you have become very close to this club by the looks and you are just the type of player we need Pearson: You have made me a happy LCFC fan again, you have installed a fighting spirit and while you may have got a few things wrong no one is perfect not even Alex Ferguson.. So i applaud you for what you have done in these 2 years and i hope you continue to build us and take us to that promised land oneday soon.. It may well be harder next year but i believe we can get better and with a few additions in the summer hopefully we can really push on this time...BUT i am under no illusion it will be tough To every other LCFC player: You can be proud in what you have done.. Morrison, Hobbs, Berner have been awesome, Wellens has had a decent 1st season, King is coming on very well, Weale is a goalkeeper who we can more or less count on, Dyer has showed good form at times, Fryatt has shown he can score in the Championship but still needs work on cutting that frustrating part outta his game.. And everyone else you have played your part aswell.. I expect some players will not be here next season but if we can keep the likes of the people i have mentioned i believe like i said we can push on.. So while i am still fed up, etc, etc...i do believe NP will take us further but decisions need to be took and we need to strengthen in certain areas no doubt

Anyhow, now this is over, who do you think will win the play-off final? I honestly couldn't say! I think that the last 2 nights have proved that it truly could go either way. Got to love it though, it is what football is all about. Plus, our teams never like doing things the easy way do they? .
bluefox9er Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 So incredibly proud of this team, at the start of the Season we would have settled for a solid mid table position, that we missed out on the play off final was due to blind referees and a penalty taker who had clearly no idea how important this game was to our Team is a tribute to the HUGE effort made by manager Pearson and the players and the unwavering support of the blue army. I hope we can mount another substantial promotion charge next season...we hogged a top 6 spot the entire season and deserved our play off game entirely on merit. Away goals, 3 clear penalties, one penalty awarded for a clear off side, Waghorn having a complete stinker of a game , Howard winning every single header int he air but no City player to gratefully receive the ball,so many variables went against us...but our heart and spirit never ever left us. Finally, I feel what Peter Taylor and Ian Holloway did to us has been un-fu***d, I just hope that we can KEEP Pearson because as much as I love our beloved team, we really did this season on heart and spirit, and not on skill and flair. Pearson is now HUGE on the radar. I'm hoping Milan can give some money to spend on REAL quality so next season we can enjoy these play offs as neutrals after auto promotion ( unless Forest and/or Derby are in them!!) Up the City!
easilee Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Bit uncalled for, its not like he was taking the piss. fair play to him for not being one of the usual immature opposition cvnts we get. Any Forest fan offering sympathy is taking the piss. F@ck off. Not in the mood for 'Nice'.
Anish Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 That was by far and away the most nerve wracking and tense Leicester match I've ever been too. To say it was a rollercoaster would be a huge understatement - it was more like being plunged into the earth's core one minute and then blown into orbit the next. I've never experienced a game full of highs and lows like that. I have to say, hand on heart, that overall Cardiff were marginally the better team. They created more chances and hit the bar twice, and at times Bothroyd and co ran our defence ragged. Their goal was inevitable and once they scored I couldn't see us getting back in it. However, after that goal we finally got going and played like warriors. Everybody was superb, the effort and commitment was incredible. We were so proud of them tonight and the fans in the stadium were magnificent. We created an unbelievable atmosphere, even the Cardiff fans and stewards at the end applauded our support. It was so heartbreaking to lose like that but we've had a tremendous season and we shouldn't lost perspective. Nobody expected us to be achieve what we have done and almost everyone wrote us off after the first leg. Tonight it was like watching the Leicester of the 90s. We were exceptional - on the pitch and in the stands.

Imagine how different things could have been with him playing in the first leg! 2) What a season he's had! Yet again he delivers a crucial goal and put in a great defending shift too. It's of monumental importance that we keep him! 3) And what about that magnificent pass to Spearing in extra-time leading to Waggy's big chance seconds after he cramped up?
