Houdini Logic Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Why is everyone saying Solano out? Surely he has one more year in him (RB cover for Morrison if nothing else) - him and Howard were my MOTM yesterday
Dobos Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Nobby Solano was a rock. We can deffo get another season out of him.
martyn Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Solano is definitely worth another year, his style of play isn't reliant on pace.
shiv Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 yeah, I thought he was a weak link in the second leg. At fault for the first goal, kept Chopra on side. He also gave away the penalty, although to be fair Chopra was offside. And Cardiff were clean through on his side a couple of times before they scored. Disagree, I thought our defense as whole looked rather shaky whenever they attacked. It's harsh to say he's not good enough when he's played 3 full games for us and for 2 of those games he's been very good.
Houdini Logic Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Solano is definitely worth another year, his style of play isn't reliant on pace. Definitely - in the last few games he has saved us a number of times with precision timing and the ability to put off opposition players (even Bothroyd last night). His vision(especially compared to some of our defenders) for long balls is superb. He simply knows how to read and play football
MrSpaM Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 If Oakleys not going to be in the squad next season, i'd love to see Tom Cleverly come back here on loan or perm
Guest Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 For us to have a chance of promotion next season we need to get some quality in. Howard was a hero yesterday, played with heart and skill but he hasn't been able to do that consistently this season and has at times looked like a passenger - we need another big man just like him but younger and with more energy. Waghorn has been great (though not yesterday) I'd like to sign him - perhaps we can swap him for DJ I'd still be interested in selling Matty and getting a couple of good players as replacements with the cash. Davies would be a great signing Nobby has his good points but he's not good enough to be a starter on a promotion contender. Defensively we have Weale, Hobbs, Morrison who are a great young core, a couple of young attacking wing backs would be nice. Midfield has been good but full of loanees - Oakley is finished, Wellens looked fantastic and ready for captaincy duties. I like Admas even if he has dropped out of favour this season Most of all I hope that we realise we have been a great team going forward when we've had too. Winning 1-0 is fine but we just beat Cardiff (a prem team!!!) 3:2 in Wales by attacking. I hope NP has a more offensive strategy next season Most importnatly we need to sign NP on a 5 year contract. He has turned this team around and managers like him are hard to find.
teblin Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Not sure about who will be let go, but we are not far off having a promotion winning side in this league. Need 2 full backs one left one right. Another centre mid spearing would be nice and maybe a wide player And a couple of forwards (taking into account waghorn and vaughan will be gone) .
jonw88 Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 BBC Gossip Column: Blackpool may stump up more than £2m to turn hat-trick hero DJ Campbell's loan spell from Leicester into a permanent deal - if they and the striker secure promotion to the Premier League. LINK
karl rudham Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Here is my wishlist for summer arrivals and departures: (some may be dreaming but here we go): IN: Rickie Lambert (Southampton) - My first choice sigining, surely the a move to the Championship must be appealing for a class player who scores bags of goals. Nicky Butt (Unattached) - Got to be worth a close look at. Kevin Phillips (Unattached) - Still got the potential to score lots of goals at Championship level Martyn Waghorn (Sunderland) - Out of contract in summer I hear ?? Marton Fulop (Sunderland) - 3rd choice now at Sunderland and must be looking for a summer move you would think. Jay Spearing (Liverpool) - Season long loan please !! Tom Cleverley (Man Utd) - Season long loan or even better a permanant deal. Alex Bruce (Ipswich) - An option, as settled well here, but lets hope we have a fully fit TUNCHEV next season, Michael Morrison is still my preferred option over Bruce though. Other options: Jon Parkin (Preston), Michael McIndoe (Coventry), Gylfi Sigurdsson (Reading), Chris Morgan (Sheff Utd), Tommy Spurr (Sheff Wed), Danny Rose (Tottenham - loan). OUT: Matt Oakley Yann Kermogrant Robbie Neilson James Wesolowski DJ Campbell Harry Worley Levi Porter Ashley Chambers Conrad Logan

S1DDO Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Surely its time to start a summer transfers/wishlist tread?
cosb6 Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 I've never rated Howards commitment until last night.... real passion, and great to see.
Guest Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 I've never rated Howards commitment until last night.... real passion, and great to see. And his interaction with City fans - Priceless! (wish he was 5 years younger again).
hackneyfox Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Am I one of the only 1s that would like to see DJ back here next season. He proved how good he was on Tuesday night, I know he doesn't get on well with Pearson, but maybe they should sit down and resolve their differences. To see a fully fit Fryatt, and Campbell up front could be a great partnership. Hopefully you are the only one. Hopefully Blackpool will get promoted and sign him or one of the newly relegated clubs will sign him. It will never work out for him with us. Have you not seen him play for us, he's never had a good game.
Guest Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Surely Blackpool will have to buy him considering he's scored 4in two playoff games for them whether they go up or not. If they don't some championship new team or poor Prem side might be fooled into buying the good for nothing overpaid lazy bum.
Cobbo Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Of those players who have squad numbers & have been part of the first team this year, I'd get rid of Neilson, McGivern & Campbell. For fees if poss (well, not McGivern as he's on loan..). Not too fussed on the younguns, I'm sure Nige etc will know who is worth keeping etc. Try to keep everyone else (including the loanees) - all are capable of playing their part in what will hopefully be a promotion push..
Corky Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Players I think will go- Oakley- Has struggled this season, Wellens and King look like the midfield pairing for next season. Campbell McGivern- End of loan, not impressed at all Waghorn- Sadly, I think he'll be in the Sunderland squad (sad for us, anyway) Vaughan I hope that Howard stays for another year, his value when used properly has been evident in the last few games. Solano I'd like to keep too. King, Hobbs will be looked at by other clubs they stay.

Guest Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 I think we're in a better position than last season for getting some great young talents on loan. This year the Arsenals and Pools will believe that it's better than ever for their youngsters to get playing time and coaching from NP.
FantasticFox Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 WTF! Exactly what i was thinking, im guessing someone has spent a little too much time on FM
StanSP Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 Waghorn's unlikely to come back here unless Sunderland sign another striker. I doubt they'll only want to rely on 3 strikers in Bent/Jones/Campbell again. The only way i see us getting Waghorn is if he submits a transfer request like DJ did to us. He clearly feels happy here, but would he feel happier in Sunderland having a chance at PL football? Vaughan could come back to us. I think his return to us looks more likely than Waghorn's return. Everton are looking to sign a couple of young Portuguese strikers, as well as Beckford who will move when transfer window opens - he's already sorted contract/medical out at Goodison Park. So with the addition of these strikers, Vaughan is down the pecking order, so rather than go for a loan, it might be worthwhile Mandaric and Pearson putting in a bid straight away. As for midfielders, I can see Oakley/Astrit being sold/released. Wouldn't mind getting Spearing or Cleverley back in. Don't think Pearson will look to be getting McGivern back in a rush, or keeping Neilson. However, if Neilson's contract is til 2012, I won't hold much hope of letting him go. The main thing is keeping the core, including the manager obviously. We have to do our utmost to keep Weale, Hobbs, King, Wellens, Fryatt.
MC Prussian Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 What's the deal with Tunchev? Will he ever be able to play again? It could well be that he's on his way out this summer, as well (in sad Stephen Clemence-fashion). Not sure about DJ, if we can't get similar loanees like Vaughan or Waghorn in, and seeing that Campbell's still under contract,... (I wouldn't say no to a couple of millions from Blackpool/Cardiff or any other Premier League team in case they wanted him, though) Oakley's lost the touch and has more interest in wines than in football these days, as it seems. Could still be useful in a Chris Powell-like role. Howard might leave, too. Although last night's superb display has me thinking he still wants to give it one more shot with us. Also to go: McGivern, Neilson, Chambers, Ajdarevic, Verma, Wesolowski (unfortunately, our competition in centre midfield is too tight with Wellens, King and even Adams) and Billy Kee. Brown?
Ozwin Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 The only way i see us getting Waghorn is if he submits a transfer request like DJ did to us. He clearly feels happy here, but would he feel happier in Sunderland having a chance at PL football? If his contract is up like rumours suggest then he might come to us on a free anyway.
Joe. Posted 13 May 2010 Posted 13 May 2010 I'd like to see us try and keep hold of Nobby, I think he's been a very useful acquisition this season. He's still got it for this level. As for the outs, I think Adams will be shown the door at the very least. There'll be no shortage of League One clubs after him so moving him on somewhere won't be a problem whatsoever. As for the rest, I'd like to see Neilson go but finding somebody to take him is much easier said than done. And then there's that enigma Mr.Campbell. Blackpool go up and he's undoubtedly off there. They stay down and they'll obviously want him still, but will he drop his wages? Either way please just go. Getting rid of him and Clemence off the wage bill in the same summer would be massive for the finances.
