Tuna Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 Scout Steve Walsh said the club were talking to two free agents, as I am aware, Johnson and Diao are still at Fulham and Stoke. I always understood Pearson lived in Solihull.
blueincornwall Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 Steve Clarke & Brendan Rodgers, they must know each other from their Chelsea days. I have always rated Steve Clarke as an excellent coach, and Brendan Rogers if given the chance could be a real coup of a manager. Lets face it, we have not got the biggest budget in the league, but Rogers is a proven youth development coach (Mourinho took him to Chelsea to do just that), and Clarke gets the best out of his players (think of the passion this guy has for the game!). We dont need a manager that relies on transfer budgets to progress, like the majority of the names banded around. We need someone who can develope the young guns on the cheap and make them the Leicester heros of the future. Just imagine what could have been with some of the players we have released in the last year or so. Kee, Weslowski, Gradel etc... you lot may be fighting over whether this guy is bullsh**ing or not but lets face it...there does seem to be a few truths in there....

Rodgers was given a chance at Reading and was a total and utter disaster. As for Clarke, excellent coach no doubt but can he cut it as a manager?
haraven Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 One of the better reads I've seen on here for a few weeks. If it is true, you are well connected. Keep us posted lcfc84
Chrysalis Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 I agree on rodgers, would be an aweful signing as manager. It then makes you wonder what MM's criteria's are when employing managers.
davieG Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 I agree on rodgers, would be an aweful signing as manager. It then makes you wonder what MM's criteria's are when employing managers. Cheap and available after the money wasted on Allen and Holloway.
Salieri Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 Cheap and available after the money wasted on Allen and Holloway. Yup. So chances are we would go for an unemployed manager. Sousa, for example, would require a wedge of compensation, wouldn't like to speculate how much though.
Chrysalis Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 if MM is only after cheap then we need a new chairman.
Guest Bilo Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 Yup. So chances are we would go for an unemployed manager. Sousa, for example, would require a wedge of compensation, wouldn't like to speculate how much though. Has two years remaining on his Swansea contract so might not be cheap. Depends how much compensation we'd get for Pearson tbh. Hopefully Mandaric will be as tight fisted as always and rip Hull off till their eyes water. They deserve it after all.
Edmund Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 I'm actually warming to the idea of Steve Clarke. Worked under the special one and is held in high regards by his peers. Of course this is if Pearson is going.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 I've hunted out a McDs just to access the internet to read this - and I'm left empty. If he is full of shit then I simply wonder why he bothers, and if it is true I wonder why I do? Either way, bits of this club continue to rip the last vestiges of love I have for it away from me. A season in a seat where it now appears my biggest highlight will be the sale of Neilsen. Fvcking brilliant. So... no optomistic bus this year then?
StanSP Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 I'd prefer Steve Clarke over shite like Dowie or Rodgers.
Tomassi Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 Steve Clarke and Brendan Rogers would actually be quite a decent partnership, both very good coaches and with plenty of contacts. If Rogers was to be the main boy then he may have learnt from his mistakes at reading...

The way I read it is that it's not a partnership but an offer has been given to both and one will be chosen out of the two, of course depending on acceptance.
Ozwin Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 Steve Clark would be an absolute steal. Wouldn't be happy with Brendan Rodgers though, looked completely out of his depth at Reading.
Narborough_fox Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 Would love Clarke. But if we are looking for cheap managers, Eddie Howe?
lcfc84 Posted 26 June 2010 Author Posted 26 June 2010 The way I read it is that it's not a partnership but an offer has been given to both and one will be chosen out of the two, of course depending on acceptance. From what i gather its steve clarke as manager and Rodgers as assistant.
Narborough_fox Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 From what i gather its steve clarke as manager and Rodgers as assistant. Time for clean pants.
Salieri Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 From what i gather its steve clarke as manager and Rodgers as assistant. If it was to be Steve Clarke then fair enough. But i'd rather have Buck Rogers as his assistant.
Edmund Posted 26 June 2010 Posted 26 June 2010 From what i gather its steve clarke as manager and Rodgers as assistant. Surprising considering Rodgers has managerial experience and Clarke has been an assistant manager within all his non playing career. You'd of thought it would've been the other way round, not that I'm complaining. I'd actually be quite happy with those two. I hope you're right but I still find it hard to believe that such sensitive information would be leaked unless you've got contacts in the boardroom?
Dan Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Mandaric in personality clash - common denominator I'm afraid.
The Doctor Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Rodgers was given a chance at Reading and was a total and utter disaster. As for Clarke, excellent coach no doubt but can he cut it as a manager? just before that he had a decent spell at watford. My bet is he couldn't handle the expectation of the reading fans what with them wanting promotion. if MM is only after cheap then we need a new chairman. we've been losing £6M a year. Do you not think it might be better for the club in the long term to make a cheap appointment than pay silly money on a manager still with a club. Money doesn't always end in success - there are some bloody good unemployed managers out there and some terrible ones still managing.
Guest Bilo Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 just before that he had a decent spell at watford. My bet is he couldn't handle the expectation of the reading fans what with them wanting promotion. Probably better off not rolling up here then after last season.
teblin Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Hope fully if it is Clark he has learnt some things off Jose!
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 27 June 2010 Posted 27 June 2010 Would love Clarke. But if we are looking for cheap managers, Eddie Howe? I wouldnt mind a bit of Eddie Howe. He's worked at Bournemouth with nothing, transfer embargoes - and look what he's done. It would be a big risk tho... and he's Bournemouth through and through, so I'm unsure if he's leave... I've got a feeling we'll be left in a god awful mess. I'm particularly upset at the prospect of the whole backroom staff leaving, part Walsh and Shakey... I couldnt really say who'd get it...
