teblin Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 Skysports.com understands Simon Grayson has emerged as a candidate for the vacant manager's job at Leicester City.Leeds United manager Grayson has been linked with the Foxes job after Nigel Pearson quit his role as Leicester manager on Tuesday to become the new Hull City boss. Grayson, who led the Whites back into the Championship last season, is thought to be high on Leicester chief Milan Mandaric's shortlist. The 40-year-old, who controversially took over at Leeds from Blackpool in 2008, enjoyed a strong bond with the East Midlands club and their fans during a five-year stint as a player. Indeed, Grayson - who cited his Elland Road affection as a major factor for quitting the Seasiders two years ago - may be tempted to move to the Walkers Stadium given their superior status in England's second tier. Last season, the Foxes established themselves in the Championship by finishing fifth en route to reaching the play-off semi-final where they lost on penalties to Cardiff City. Opposed to Leeds, who famously dropped out of the Premier League through their financial woes, Leicester are far more stable than their Yorkshire counterparts and that could play a decisive part in Grayson's next career move. The Whites though, who finished second in League One last term, would be loath to lose him and would likely fight to keep him at Elland Road. sky
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 sky This has come out far too soon to be anything more than wild speculation surely?
Shrenchel Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 "Leicester are far more stable than their Yorkshire counterparts and that could play a decisive part in Grayson's next career move." Eh?! Leeds are one of the only clubs below the premier league making a profit every year. We're banging £6 million on our massive debt every season. Leeds have already signed more players since the season ended than we probably will all summer.
SMX11 Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 He's shit. His Leeds career and Holloway has proved that. Stay well clear imo.
Matt Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 When appointed Pearson I wanted Simon Grayson, tbh over the two years we've had Nigel Pearson i've not really followed how Simon Grayson's done at Leeds, obviously he got them promoted but not sure what his styles were like or decision making, bringing players in, e.t.c, but I wouldn't mind him. Gotta question why he'd come to us though, being in the same league as us now, Leeds having probably as much potential as us if not more, e.t.c....Oh wait, They are same questions I want answering from our old manager.... Also didn't Grayson turn us down before we annouced Pearson as manager or was it Blackpool that refused us to talk to him?
SMX11 Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 He has a poor eye for a player, struggled to get Leeds out of L1 and seems to struggle tactically. The lack of money may give him a handy excuse but some of his signings at Leeds are just poor. He wouldn't make my shortlist. 1) Sousa 2) O'Driscoll 3) Mowbray
Cobbo Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 I can only see this as being lazy journalism 'oh he played for Leicester for the best years of his career' etc.. But the Pearson moved has really shocked me, so stranger things have happened. Would be a good appointment in my opinion.
breadandcheese Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 What a non-story. As much as we like to think we are an equal of Leeds, the truth is they are bigger than us and he would never leave them for us.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 What a non-story. As much as we like to think we are an equal of Leeds, the truth is they are bigger than us and he would never leave them for us. And also as Cobbo said, lazy journalism. Truth is he had just as good years at Leeds.
General Smuts Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 Im not so bothered by the rumour but i am loving the digs it takes at Leeds and stating how much better a club we are than them!
ousefox Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 Probably bollocks but i would love him to come just to piss of all the Leeds fans i know who love him.
davieG Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 There's so much bullshit in that report it's simply not worth taking seriously, that's not to say it would never happen just that it wouldn't be for any of the reasons given.

DB11 Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 I don't really fancy him as much as I doubt he'd really come here over Leicester! We're not at all more stable than them...

Priceless.
Houdini Logic Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 I remember when we were in League 1 and Grayson said Leeds were he only League 1 team he would ever take the step down for. No thanks
smokey Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 Why would he come here, i hate Leeds but they are a far bigger club than us and are now in the same division, wont happen!!
markbsac Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 grayson wont quit leeds for us......now wether you like it or not we are a smaller club than leeds...plus hes a leeds fan..from leeds......i cant see it to be honest
dandannieldanok Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 I wouldn't really want him here, plenty of Leeds fans wanted shot of him last season.
Paleface Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 I hear Capello might be looking for a massive club like yours soon.
carterfox90 Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 grayson wont quit leeds for us......now wether you like it or not we are a smaller club than leeds...plus hes a leeds fan..from leeds......i cant see it to be honest spot on he's a leeds fan so not a chance & they will have more money than us & hate to say it but will have as good a chance as us of doing well thats unless we get dowie then i fear the worst
Webbo Posted 29 June 2010 Posted 29 June 2010 Mandaric had the chance to hire him before he hired Pearson. If he didn't want him then I can't see what's changed.
