Guest Bilo Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 Got some more quotes for you lovely people. It gets better. I'm actually quite excited about this now. Good finds. Coming from Benfica fans, these are no small compliments. Hope he can adapt to the English game.
Samilktray Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 Get Freddy Adu on loan and we'll anally fist this league
Ozwin Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 He's classy, he doesn't hurt other players on purpose, tries to get into as little trouble as possible. Never said anything stupid to the media either, seems like he's level headed. He's also the captain for the Portuguese U-21 Squad. No point hyping him up too much.. It is his first venture outside of Portugal, and it could all go badly (although I hope it doesnt.. probably wont, but you never know..).But yeh, he was pretty much plucked out of the youths when our first team was short of defenders with so many injuries in the 08/09 season I think. Back then we sometimes even had to use a make-shift defense of Katsouranis (who was our Defensive Mid back then) and M. Vitor. And he always impressed, and has ever since.. I remember this one time when it was nearing the end of Rui Costa's career, and there was a memorial match held for him at San Siro, and Miguel Vitor played centre back for us, where he did pretty well. And even last season (if I remember correctly) it was him and Sidnei against Sporting in a cup match where we hardly had any problems in defense as well. Just giving the people what they want.
ROS5 Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 I don't think we do need an experienced centre-back, look at Jack Hobbs,22 and he was our best player last season.
Jon the Hat Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 How many young Portugese stars was Paolo able to take on loan to Swansea? None you say? Hmmm.
Bettsj2 Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 He's 6'0, not exactly a midget. Sounds like a promising player, but seeing as i can't seem to find any youtube clips of him in action, how the hell can i be sure? Same height as Morrison who never struggled in the air. This is a VERY exciting signing if it comes off.
Alexikokopops Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 Something about it on Benfica's official site now. http://www.slbenfica.pt/Informacao/Futebol/Noticias/noticiasfutebol_futmiguelvitoremprestimo_070710_64063.asp It basically says we've got him on a season long loan, but without the option to buy.
Callabinho Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 Sounds good, if they wont let us buy him then maybe he is considered to have a bright future ! I am looking forwards to this, maybe he will play right back or even defensive midfielder ?
JmorsonLCFC Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 Just saw we've signed Miguel Vitor, a 21 year old from Benifca on a season long loan. Anyone know if he's good or not? Daily Mail His Wikipedia page confirming his signing
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 His Wikipedia page confirming his signing Wikipedia as a source of confirmation? About as reliable as the readers' texts section of the Daily Star.
MikeyT Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 Just saw we've signed Miguel Vitor, a 21 year old from Benifca on a season long loan. Anyone know if he's good or not? Daily Mail His Wikipedia page confirming his signing Anyone can change Wikipedia, never trust it!
ousefox Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 I thought i heard Sousa didn't believe in nuturing other clubs young players?
dhermon Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 Sky Sports Confirming Is that him in the pic or have sky buggered up and used a pic for one of the characters star trek .....
Jonezy Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 After reading the comments from the Benfica fans, I must admit, that this excites me. Central defense could be mean looking with Vitor, Tunch, Hobbs and Morrison to choose from.
Ozwin Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 Miguel Vitor definately has potential to be a great DC and I've been completely surprised by his ability everytime I see him play.. The opposition attacks, and he comes in from nowhere with a clean tackle and destroys their flow of play. He does it so often that I even find myself thinking "Yep, as expected of this guy.."
lcfcliam Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 Ive read on many websites that weve signed the guy on loan is it true? it says it on sky sports and wikipedia but no on the OS
covefox Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 even reported on Benfica official site http://www.slbenfica.pt/Informacao/Futebol/Noticias/noticiasfutebol_futmiguelvitoremprestimo_070710_64063.asp maybe our site want to drag this out as long aspossible like the kit. why report everything in one day, Sousa, Milan happy and a signing in one day...nah, drag it out
CosbehFox Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 Says on that link that he's represented by Pini Zahavi. Not sure what to make of that to be honest. He seems to have decent contacts in the game but isn't exactly squeaky clean as an agent. Hmm...Zahavi has been involved in attracting investors to us.....
Joe. Posted 8 July 2010 Posted 8 July 2010 If this guy is as good as Benfica fans are making him out to be then I'm struggling to see a better set of centre backs in this league than ours.
