MC Prussian Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 Now with Sousa as the new appointed manager, see the first Portuguese player to join him: http://www.abola.pt/....aspx?id=213340
C-man Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 Oh goody. EDIT: Just a bit skeptical of these sort of moves.
Alexikokopops Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 The gist of the article is that he's set to join up with Sousa to create a team capable of returning to the Premiership. According to English sources it's practically sorted, but not to Benfica sources. It'll be on an "(estimated) year long contract", which sounds like a season long loan. Edit: I got this from my girlfriend, who speaks Portuguese.
ousefox Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 Attempted to translate it and the site seems pretty confident that he will come- on loan i think
hackneyfox Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 '(that is approximately £2,492,000 Pound Starlings).' Love it
Jake SH Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 Hmm looks promising although another young center back if we do get him, do you lot think a more experienced centre back would of been better with the loss of wayne ?
dandannieldanok Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 Hmm looks promising although another young center back if we do get him, do you lot think a more experienced centre back would of been better with the loss of wayne ? Personally no, I don't think experience is that crucial. In this league if you're good enough you'll be fine, just look at Michael Morrison. And anyway this guy has got some experience, 20 appearances for Benfica which is a highly-pressured situation due to the expectations of Benfica year in year out, certainly some pedigree there.
Smudge Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 Google Translation Miguel Vitor is very close to reinforce Leicester Paulo Sousa, team that is joining forces to form a team capable of returning to the Premiership, English Premier League.Benfica has not advanced any information about the process, but in England, knew the ball, the transfer is largely assumed, it was possible to know that this is a valid loan for a season. The Leicester will be coached by Portuguese Paulo Sousa, a former international player and former Benfica and Sporting Lisbon, which greatly contributes to this emblem of British interest in the young age of 21. Knowing the qualities of Miguel Vitor, Paulo Sousa believes that the center can adapt very well to the second tier of English manhood. With a contract until 2013, and capped by competition in the Light, no longer will go to stage. 08:39 - 07/07/2010
breadandcheese Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 Hmm looks promising although another young center back if we do get him, do you lot think a more experienced centre back would of been better with the loss of wayne ? Yes. We have two good young centre-backs in Hobbs and Morrison, so a more experienced centre-back to help them improve their game is the type of player I'd be looking to bring in. Hobbs has said himself, how much he learnt playing alongside Brown (I assume he meant things other than the hoof), so for me, an experienced player is a must.
Fox You Forest Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 I wont be convinced until I've seen his FM stats I actually sold him to QPR on my Benfica game yesterday.

Guest Bilo Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 Says on that link that he's represented by Pini Zahavi. Not sure what to make of that to be honest. He seems to have decent contacts in the game but isn't exactly squeaky clean as an agent.
harpendenfox Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 Paulo Sousa believes that the center can adapt very well to the second tier of English manhood. It's great to know we sit at the second tier of English manhood. i'm very proud of that

artursteppe Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 Hmm looks promising although another young center back if we do get him, do you lot think a more experienced centre back would of been better with the loss of wayne ? Alexander Tunchev, 26 or 27 now, Hungarian International. Enough experience for you?
Ozwin Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 I love me some foreign sounding players. Just hope one of Morrison and Hobbs don't get pushed aside to make way for this guy.
Fox You Forest Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 Alexander Tunchev, 26 or 27 now, Hungarian International. Enough experience for you? Apart from age and his nationality I couldn't agree more.
sw_fox Posted 7 July 2010 Posted 7 July 2010 Spoke to my Portuguese Benfica fan friend asking him about him and was told "Very good, one of Benfica's future centre backs. You can't take him he is too good for the championship!"
