Leicfox Posted 14 August 2010 Posted 14 August 2010 Blackpool winning 2-0 with 40mins gone. Mkae that 3-0 with 43mins gone. Blackpool playing really well, im watching it and listening to Foxes player.
Guest Bilo Posted 14 August 2010 Posted 14 August 2010 Well I feel a twat for saying there's a good chance they wouldn't win a game all season. They could actually make a decent stab at it after this match. Still don't think they'll stay up but they could well avoid the bottom spot and may push their battle all the way. Wigan however sound as they could be pretty good candidates for that 20th slot.
Salieri Posted 14 August 2010 Posted 14 August 2010 Wonder what Martinez odds are now for the first Prem manager to be sacked? Shortened a fair bit after that debacle i would have thought!
purpleronnie Posted 14 August 2010 Posted 14 August 2010 I'm sure some on here will still be calling holloway, gets a small team promoted 'he's still shit', wins first game 4-0 away 'he's still shit'. I dont care if they go down, holloway is still a top manager. Take the blinkers off.
Leicfox Posted 14 August 2010 Posted 14 August 2010 They built there new stand with the promotion money, didn't they. What i heard from a few Pool fans i work with is that they've spent 40mill on a new training centre in Lancaster. Funny thing about it apparently though is that Karl Oyston has paid this money to Owen Oyston as it was his land.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 14 August 2010 Posted 14 August 2010 I said before this afternoon, I think they will stay up. There a team with real passion, and haven't got anything to lose. Holloway will know this, If they go for it every game, with the mentality that they have nothing to lose, they will steer clear of the bottom 3. I have no problem with Holloway, I think he's a good manager. He wasn't given enough time at Leicester.

I have no problem with Holloway, I think he's a good manager. He wasn't given enough time at Leicester. Might I add that not only was time a factor, but the base he was given. Mid season, after two managers had quickly departed, no wonder the team was in a mess (hindsight). Some will think he's just a fool, but he's not, he is a top honest Bristol bloke that will naturally sound funny even if he tried to talk seriously. Blackpool's result today, or more to the point, Wigan's lack of one reminds me of the Bolton debacle on the opening day yonks back. We never really recovered from that, that season (seems stupid to say considering it was the first game!) so Wigna's fate could already be sealed so to speak.
Guest ttfn Posted 14 August 2010 Posted 14 August 2010 We were lower mid table when he arrived. He's obviously learnt from his experiences here, but he was a woeful Leicester manager. Woeful.

Ozwin Posted 15 August 2010 Author Posted 15 August 2010 If he was a 'top manager' he wouldn't have played Iain Hume and Barry Hayles on the fooking wings. Still gives me nightmares that.

And Fryatt, don't forget him on the wing. His achievement with Blackpool is remarkable but to call him a top manager is going off the deep end somewhat
Leicester_Loyal Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 He was terrible for us. Blackpool may get a few decent results, but don't forget Wigan are probably the worst team in the league, and they had a bad day, even by their standards.
Mikey Posted 15 August 2010 Posted 15 August 2010 Wigan and Blackpool will be the bottom two side come May imo.
MPH Posted 16 August 2010 Posted 16 August 2010 I definitely consider west brom to be a better team and look what happened to them against a top team... Its been a while since a prem game ended in double figuers, but this could be the year....
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/blackpool/8925912.stm Chairman just resigned...
Tommeh Posted 18 August 2010 Posted 18 August 2010 Would love to see them do well. If the rumours are true with the 10k wage cap, and that Huddersfield offered Harewood more in wages than Blackpool then they've taken a good stand against the money game. Although now the chairman has gone, they may kiss this philosophy goodbye.

Although now the chairman has gone, they may kiss this philosophy goodbye. I'd imagine if there was a wage cap they'd have introduced a performance related bonus system as well. Definitely the way it should be done. In any job if you fail or perform badly this has an impact on your job security/wages, why not have this introduced as standard in football on top of the goal/assist/clean sheet bonuses.
davieG Posted 19 August 2010 Posted 19 August 2010 Nice to see Karl was running a tight ship at Blackpool shame it can't be said for his other businesses From the BBC Former Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston is involved in a bankruptcy hearing, it has emerged. Lancaster County Court confirmed a judge is considering bankruptcy papers involving the 43-year-old, who resigned as chairman and director on Wednesday. Mr Oyston will stay on as acting chief executive of the newly-promoted Premier League club until the end of the season or until a replacement is found. A spokesman for Blackpool Football Club declined to comment. If Mr Oyston is declared bankrupt, under Premier League rules he would not be able to be a chairman or director of any football club. The Premier League brought in its "fit and proper person" test in 2004 to try to prevent clubs from being taken over by dishonest owners. It applies to people wishing to become directors or take a shareholding of more than 30%, and primarily relates to an individual's criminal record or whether they have been bankrupt.
Edmund Posted 20 August 2010 Posted 20 August 2010 They can't be that skint surely? Pitman rejects Blackpool
Leicfox Posted 28 August 2010 Posted 28 August 2010 Watching the Blackpool v Fulham game..... Atmosphere is electric.
tartanowl Posted 29 August 2010 Posted 29 August 2010 Going straight back down. Even we did the double over them last season.
