Leicfox Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 From Koppite on A View From The Tower... I can categorically state & confirmThat DJ Cambell will sign for the Seasiders & be in the staring lineup on Saturday! He was at Bloomfield Rd last night, where i had the opportunity to speak to him briefly. After initially telling me was here only to collect some belongings he had left (But Couldn't keep a straight face whilst trying to blag me) he relented & admitted that personal terms & the fee had already been agreed & the deal will be tied up either today (Thursday) or Friday morning. He has to have another medical (which in DJ's words is a formality) however for insurance & legal reasons has to be carried out! He said he is buzzing that he is finally getting his wish to join the Pool! It was obvious he was thrilled & a very happy man indeed last night!

buzzy Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 Good. The sooner he goes, the better. wrong striker should have been fryatt.
z-layrex Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 wrong striker should have been fryatt. Well he's going too.
shiv Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 I have just got home from work and have been watching SSN for about half an hour. Nowhere on the bottom does it say anything to do with DJ Campbell joining Blackpool. I have also had a look at the website and it doesn't seem to be on the transfer clockwatch or anything. Is this just me being stupid or have SSN just suddenly decided it's not happening? I personally wouldn't really want him to go as we're short up front and there's not long to find a decent replacement. He is a twat though.
Guest Bilo Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 Can't say I'm bothered either way now. If he leaves, he leaves. He isn't irreplaceable as long as this deal goes through sooner rather than later. If we get roughly what we paid for him, there's no reason why we can't bring in another goalscorer for the money. £2 million would buy one hell of a player at this level.
thanks4nothinglevein Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 Its all over the net (forums) that its pretty much a done deal just nothing confirmed on SSN or the OS, if him and Fryatt go then we might as well call it a day, Steve Howard our only striker, Paulo best pull his finger out and get somebody in, preferably somebody proven at this level, Ian Stringer on BBC Radio Leics any minute now as well as interview with Jack Hobbs.

Yeah I know, I was just wondering why it was supposedly on SSN earlier and it's not there now. Even if it's not official. The only thing that worries me is that we'll panic buy someone shit cos the transfer window shuts soon.
Guest Bilo Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 Can't imagine Fryatt going as well as Campbell to be honest. Could be wrong but I'd expect it to be one or the other, just prefer it to be Campbell.
Stig the Lawnmower Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 ==== You might add the fact that we've left him on the sidelines almost from day one of a long contract - and during a time when our attack was limited at best. Why would tat make anyone want to play for us? As for "ego" I rather have a player with justified ego and self-confidence rather than some of the "shirts" we've had whose limited ability would hardly justify them having "ego" even in Divison One. For his own sake the sooner he goes somewhere he's better appreciated by club and fans alike the better. agree with you thracian. he has been treated like sh!t since he's been here. he has obvious talent and he will be a success. I think it's a big loss to us, who will we get to replace him? Heskey, I hope not, as the saying goes - never go back!

Ian Stringer just said what we are saying that it has been reported on the net that a deal and wages are agreed etc but he seen him training this morning and nothing is final but ultimately doesnt look good. Sack Heskey off, don't ruin his ledgend status by bringing him back, we need someone like McCormack but he's signed for Leeds more or less so who knows now.
J.Lisemore Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 wrong striker should have been fryatt. You mean the bloke who was here last season scoring goals.. Think we need a PROVEN striker, who is this Leon Crncic and what the hell is he going to do?, apart from sitting on the bench or in the reserves.
m00nie Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 thought were meant to be strengthin the squad... having dj back was like having a new striker fir us.. so were going to be left with howard and fryatt again with crncic replacing kermo..

Think we need a PROVEN striker, who is this Leon Crncic and what the hell is he going to do?, apart from sitting on the bench or in the reserves. I wasn't a big fan of Campbell until I saw how he played for Blackpool - I was stupid enough to get excited about him this season! I agree that we need a proven striker and I'll be really worried if we sell Matty as well though - we need someone who can score 15-20 in a season

I think it's a big loss to us, who will we get to replace him? Heskey, I hope not, as the saying goes - never go back! Just one side of the argument. It is quite clear that after Allen's exit the relationship between Campbell and the club broke down, unlikely that it was entirely one sided. Sometimes a relationship becomes so damaged that a clean split is the best for all parties. Still don't let a balanced, live and let live post ruin a perfectly good thread...
tetly Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 Invest the money in ricky lambert then buy a central defender and a creative midfielder if theres any money left over get a goalkeeper.
Bausor Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 http://www.blackpool.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=520111 Dj reports wide of the mark "ollie"
Bausor Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 Invest the money in ricky lambert then buy a central defender and a creative midfielder if theres any money left over get a goalkeeper. And then if there any money left over from that you could buy my house You on drugs .
Wig_Wam_Bam Posted 26 August 2010 Posted 26 August 2010 Cant understand this, DJ hasn't been given a chance at this club and unless Blackpool have offered alot of money at least 1.5 - 2 million (Which i cant see) then whats the point i thought we were building a team not selling our better players!

Agree that we need to keep our "better" players in some regard but when you're getting near on 2 mil for a guy who is out of contact and probably on near to 15-20k a week, it makes sense to get rid of him and spend the money of a few other players.
