Interesting post from bocadillo on TB:

We've speculated hard and long about whether NP walked or was it MM who pushed him. We've had Cardiffgate and asked ourselves when MM made the decision to appoint Sousa. And now the truth is starting to out.

I have it on very good authority that there was no walk-out by Pearson; there was no fall-out between Pearson and Mandaric. The whole thing stems from the takeover. Basically Top said he wanted Pearson out and Sousa in - that or it's all off - I get what I want or there will be no takeover and no money.

You can believe it if you want. I know my source's source and that he would be in a position to know the truth.

Don't quite understand it given our successes last year but there you have it.

Why would Top want Sousa and not Pearson?

More of a marketable character you'd have thought. From his point of view anyway. Champions League winner twice, foreign contacts and all that. Baffling but probably the sad truth.

I think most people assumed this was the case anyway, I certainly did. Didn't think he was so frank about it though, it's like the kid at school with the football and only let you play if he liked you.

If you think about it, the Thai person, wants to sell Leicester in Thailand, if you think a poster with sausa in his suits, or Pearson in his joggers, which one is more marketable ?

Posted

If it is true like it sounds then the bloke is crazy .What he should have been getting was a stable team a player or 2 short of the premier league. What he has created is a team full of foreigners & unrest in a matter of weeks. He must like wasting his own money is all I can think of, any sane business man would have kept it as it was, you don't change a succesful manager for the sake of it to gamble on someone who wants to rip the team up & start from scratch.

The decision proves that a 25 year old rich boy has the business sense of a 5 year old.

The club, as a business, is only as good as it's first team.Thats the product and a bad product no matter how many Japanese international's or ex- champions league winners you get, is what makes this club marketable.

Sousa's just started but with Pearson you had the football side covered. A manager whose own stock was rapidly rising in the football world.A manager who had the respect and contacts of many of the heavyweights in the premiership and we've let him go on a marketting ploy.Sousa as a MANAGER is not even close to pearson in terms of respect.

You cant judge Sousa on 4 games nor can you judge his signings but Pearson work in two years suggested that with a more lucrative cheque book the potential for success was much higher.

Unfortunately, we are the first business "trial" thatTops dad has chosen to ease his son into the business world. This sort of decision shows that most probably the club is not a long term project but a trial and error practical learning curve for Top.

You want a marketable product, get the club to premiership daddy's boy!People in Thailand would much rather buy the shirt of premiership team.

I'm genuinely pissed off by this!

Why cant successful business men/women make decisions in football the way they normally would in any other business outside of it!They wouldnt sack their head of sales of king power after a lucrative year because he wore Next suits instead of armani would they!!!Instead they put their numpty sons in charge.

But no, this club is their toy, let's just hope by the time they're bored we are not in the same position as Pompey!

More radical/irrational decisions on the horizon!

My fears confirmed then, playboy Far East billionaire with toss all idea about the sport has been calling the shots since before his involvement was even officially confirmed in our club. All in the name of flogging a few City replicas in Phuket.

Football's gone to hell in a handcart I tell thee.

Not really a shock. I thought at the time this was the case. This decision alone shows where what I used to think of as my club is headed. The fact is that since MM took over the club has not really been about the supporters.

I repeat that the whole get rid of the Birch affair was a simple smokscreen to deflect away the attenton of this. The sad thing is that he was probably not even party to it and so had to suffer the uncertainty of his own future for nothing more than a pr stunt designed to let us CUSTOMERS know that we are still cared about and listened to.

I just hope the decision does not come back to bite him on the arse. Probably explains the reported anomosity towards Sousa from the players too.

No surprise really. It wouldn't even surprise me if they looked at the Man city situation and thought 'Good looking foreigner, nice dresser. European pedigree, pull in the bigger names (at the level) success'

It's a shame that the old fashioned bull dog approach is dwindling in the game - ' Get into em, fvck em up'? Not in this day and age, more like 'Get into em, give em a tickle, cuddle and an ice cream on the way through'.

if the top quote is true no wonder DJ wanted to leave and the club has gone mental in terms of organisation and ability to go up the football ladder

I was told this the day after Pearson left. Regarding the takeover and Sousa the lot.

At the time I said "bollocks"

Yet it all came true. Apart from one thing, the size of the consortium and the monies involved were much higher but there will be more investors joining soon so we shall see.

Or so we were told. That way we question less that a 25yr old Thai with no experience is running our club.

I've heard that when Nigel eventually left, he cleared out his office, stormed off, and did not say one word to the players just left, now if Nigel left us for Hull because he had done his bit then he would have surely spent time explaining why to his players, not leave and say nothing!

All the players were on holiday.

What worries me is that Sousa has serious managerial flaws and I can't see him learning them that quickly. But as this appointment is definitely the cause from our takeover then he'll not be leaving anytime soon. That horrifies me, but I suppose all I and we can do is get behind the lads and Paulo and hope for the best.

We didn't lose any of our key players in the transfer window. We've got Waghorn back, so we're not looking too bad. Maybe a win against The Shitters next weekend it could kick start our season.

So the first decision that the new owners make is to remove our most successful manager since O'Neill?

Bodes well for the future. Naive, short sighted, ignorant cunts.

Worried that a couple of our key players will go out on loan in a week or so.
