Fox92 Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 Ikeme - 5 Neilson - 6 Hobbs - 8 Morrison - 8 Berner - 7 Waghorn - 5 Wellens - 6 Oakley - 7 King - 5 Dyer - 7 Fryatt - 5
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 The problem is that todays game wasn't the worst performance of the season, yet somehow it has brought the worst marks. To give a rating of 2 or 3, a player surely must have made several key mistakes that cost us the game.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 I see your point, but I think it reflects the level of disappointment from the game, and we are also looking back at last season and using that level as a guide. Ive gotta say I wish they'd entrusted Pearson with this money/take- over.
reynard Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 I can't believe the high marks for Hobbs. he and Morrison were both at fault for both the goals. The first one occured because they were too far apart allowing a free header and for the second he simply stopped playing waved his arm in the air at Morrison yet could have reached the ball. Both deserve no more than 4.
ithuriel Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 Ikeme-- poor goal keeper, from what i have seen of logan i can't understand dropping our reserve keeper for this player ..........3 Berner--less than average display in a defensive unit that is not working .........4 Hobbs--needs to be commanding in defence, as our only permanent center half thus far this season should be talking more. from what i have seen there seems to ba a lack of communication going on at the back though at times it seems to be happening all over the pitch ........5 Morison--same as Berner ........4 Neilson--more effective than last season but not convinced he is our permanent right back ........4 Wellens--very poor display ........4 Oakley--barely noticed him to be honest .......4 King--not his best day, starting to get more attention from the opposition maybe, if so the other midfield players should have benefitted .......4 Waghorn--worked his socks off but to no avail. guys a striker not a winger ......5 Dyer--faded badly from the game .......4 Fryatt--Did not really seem interested and at one point was chasing the ball with two of their defenders n just gave up ......3 Howard--gave an innitial spark to our attack that quickly faded with the gamesmanship being shown by QPR and the poor refereeing, what was with the dim witted ref wearing that colour shirt in the first half and why did he wait until the second half to change it ......3 Gally--just wanted a bit of target practice ......3
ScouseFox Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 Ikeme 2 - Can't catch, can't kick, doesn't save much either. Neilson 5 - Not great, not chocking either. Hobbs 7 - Looked composed on the ball. Morrison 5 - Probably at fault for the second. Berner 4 Wellens 2 - Shocking. Oakley 6 - Should have stayed on instead of Wellens. King 4 - Anonymous. Dyer 6 - Shouldn't have gone off, has one thing nobody else really has, pace. Fryatt 3 - Service wasn't great, but when he did have the ball, he took too many touches. Waghorn 5 - Out of position, offered little. Subs: Howard 7 - Should have started, fired up when he came on. Gallagher 1 - If you insist on shooting with every touch, then get the ball on target.
Messi Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 Ikeme 3 Neilson 6 Hobbs 7 Morrison 7 Berner 6 Wellens 4 Oakley 6 Dyer 6 King 5 Waghorn 6 Fryatt 4 Subs: Howard 7 Gallagher 5
okie fox Posted 19 September 2010 Posted 19 September 2010 Ikeme --4-- Hoofing it to Fryatt is a bad idea. Prone to dropping high lobs or high bounces when pressured. Neilson --5-- Too often tried to pass ball into tight spots. Hobbs --6-- OK, but not close to Mackie on first goal. Morrison --6-- Dominant in air, got turned by Mackie for second (breakaway) goal but had no help. Berner --5-- Needs to close down quicker. Waghorn --5-- Ineffective on wing. Wellens --5-- Not his day, nothing he tried came off. Needs to be more decisive. Oakley --6-- Did OK, taken off for change of tactics, not for poor performance. King --5-- Marked out of the game. Dyer --6-- Got behind their defence a few times in the first half. Fryatt --4-- Ineffective. Won 1 header all game, needs too many touches before lining up shots. Subs: Howard --7-- Battled away, made a difference when he came on. Gallagher --4-- Wasted possession with woeful long shots. Defensively, a liability.
The Doctor Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 just me that thinks hobbs was at fault for their second not morrison then? Since hobbs was stood with mackie and didn't track the run.
RowlattsFox Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 Bit late I know but wanted to give my ratings Ikeme -5- Not directly at fault for goals but doesn't inspire confidence. Neilson -5- Lacked options, and if there isn't a simple pass he strugglers. Morrison -6- Ok but times but not entirely convincing. Hobbs -7- Can't remember too many mistakes and drove us forward couple of times second half. Berner -5- Failed to stop the cross too many times. Oakley -6- Pick of the centre midfield trio but never looked like doing anything. Wellens -4- He tried, granted, but nothing came off. Getting fed up of his attempted 'first time' balls, thinks hes better than he is. King -5- Will always have these kinda games. Dyer -6- Biggest threat in first half but didn't see enough of the ball. Waghorn -5- Touch was poor. Fryatt -5- No service whatsoever but did nothing with the bits he got. Howard -5- Good initial impact but once he gets annoyed then its game over, just gives fouls away. Gallagher -5- Involved but wasted good potential opportunities with tame shots.
Messi Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 No your not on your own LargeAl. I also think it was Hobbs, being as he was marking him. I also blame Ikeme who started to run to get it then decided to stop and go back towards his goal. Morrison is getting some harsh comments on here, I thought he was one of our best players. He is only going to improve, he is still young. Cut him some slack people!!
Webbo Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 Morrison said in his post match interview it was his fault. He said his legs had gone.
Messi Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 He may have been tired, but he's hardly gonna stand there and blame it on Hobbs, Ikeme or whoever he thought it was. I think we should stick by him.
Webbo Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 He may have been tired, but he's hardly gonna stand there and blame it on Hobbs, Ikeme or whoever he thought it was. I think we should stick by him. Who's said we should drop him?
Messi Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 Read the thread, and the team v Portsmouth thread. Then you will see about 75% of people have!
Webbo Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 Well if Vitor is fit then he should be given a run out in the cup match. That's no criticism of Morrison though.
Messi Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 Have you actually read the reviews of some people? Or just trying to pick an argument? People have been calling him a liability and all sorts!!
Webbo Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 Have you actually read the reviews of some people? Or just trying to pick an argument? People have been calling him a liability and all sorts!! Not at all. I'm just giving my opinion. I've nothing against Morrison.
Messi Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 Ok mate, In my opinion I think he is quality and is only going to get better with age and don't think he deserves to be dropped. I would quote these comments but I'm on my phone and I can't, but it kind of proves my point of what people are saying: Morrison 5 -Turning circle of a bus towing a tractor. Morrison - 4 - Liability at centre-half. At fault for both goals. Perfect reason to start Vitor now. Morrison 4 - Didn't cover himself in glory today. All the calls for him to be restored to the starting line up didnt look justified Morrison 5 - worrying Its only noticed if he makes a mistake, but people are so far up the arse of Hobbs, King etc they never get questioned. Its just the same players who get criticised week in, week out who haven't even played that bad, e.g. Neilson & Oakley, them two have been two of the better performers this season but people still pick fault cause they are easy targets.
Walshy5 Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 Ive said it before and ill say it again. Morrison is a good RB at this level as proved last season and thats where he should play. He,s not good enough at CB in the championship, case closed.
Messi Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 Case closed because you said it is? I agree that he is quality at RB, but he has played no more than 5 games at CB at this level so to 'close the case' is abit hurried. He will need time to get used to the pace etc cause he has played RB for the last season. But I would prefer to see him at RB, but I have no idea why Sousa isn't playing him there!!
Thor Posted 20 September 2010 Posted 20 September 2010 All these ratings for players of 3 & 4 are an absolute joke. No player had that bad a game today. I'm sure many of you out there would have given these players 6 & 7's if we had scored a penalty when it was 1-0 and drew the game. Ikeme - 5 - Looked uncomfortable with any ball into the box. Installs no confidence into this back line, and his kicking. Truely poor. Neilson - 5.5 - Not great, and looked really nervous against the pacey winger Ephraim. Tried to get forward well, but often ran down closed corridors. Hobbs - 8 - A superb individual performance, lead the back line very well. He didn't deserve to be on the losing side. Morrison - 6.5 - Defended well. Got skinned completely for the second goal, but him and JH are developing a very useful partnership. He could really do with a confident keeper behind him. Berner - 6 - Not his best day today. Wasteful with the ball, and was unusually caught of position on a couple of occasions. One he will probably won't to forget. Wellens - 5 - Not his day today. He battled hard, but didn't have the positive impact he would have liked. Oakley - 5 - Missing for long parts, wasteful with possesion. King - 5 - As Oakley, went missing for long parts, and didn't really have the chance to affect the game. Dyer - 5.5 - Apart from a lively first 5 minutes, was starved of the ball, and made no impact. Fryatt - 6 - Wasn't his fault for the lack of service, the only time the ball came near him was from the long boot of Ikeme. Tried, but was never going to be his day today. Waghorn - 5.5 - Trying too hard to impress still. We all know he is good enough, he just needs to relax, and let his football do the talking. Making bad decisions with the ball on too many occasions. Subs Gallacher - 6 - Got involved, and tried to make things happen without any major success. At least he wasn't afraid to put a shot on the goal. Howard - 7 - Started to cause them problems, and should have had a penalty. Worked hard, but was never given any really decent service. The first sensible set of marks I've seen. Agree with every one of those, and the comments.
