FosseFox Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Having watched countless managers come and go, if it is Sven, let's give him a chance and not write him off before he's signed a contract. Sven got a lot of bad press in the UK because of the England job, but that doesn't make him a bad manager. Look at Steve McLaren, who won the Dutch title and is now at Wolfsburg. If he came back to the UK he'd be panned, but elsewhere he is respected. I'm not Sven's biggest fan by a long shot. If MON was even slightly keen I'd urge the board to sign him up immediately, but I can't see him stepping back. However, it's a nice position to be in, to have two managers of this calibre after the managers job (allegedly). Everyone must admit, it's better than Dowie, Gregory or Bryan Robson being linked with the job!

Hopefully the Far East consortium don't get too bored too quickly
buzzy Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 if we get sven can someone tell me where vthe stability is vat the club because i can not see it
sdb Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Sven notoriously turned a selfish ivory coast team playing for themselves into a team at lightening speed. Their previous manager was he would never do it but he did. He is a fantastic diplomat and that’s one of his many skills. He doesn’t like negative talk and never put up with it whilst with England and all his other teams. Droga and Co wanted him to stay but he wants club football plus they cant afford him. oh yeah the Ivory Coast were dynamite at the world cup!!
Ozwin Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 If MON has held talks with us then why aren't we appointing him? If it was a straight race between those two then surely it's a no brainer?
wurmer Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 If MON has held talks with us then why aren't we appointing him? If it was a straight race between those two then surely it's a no brainer? It's just rumoured he has, and it's also rumoured he's said he's not interested. Who knows... Bert?
Guest Bilo Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 oh yeah the Ivory Coast were dynamite at the world cup!! Harsh. In a group with Brazil and Portugal, they hardly had the luck of the draw.
Ozwin Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 A) Why would he have talks if he wasn't interested? B) Why would he be the bookies 2nd fav if it was just a rumour? The bookies know their shit. C) Sky Sports are supposed to have learnt that he's had talks, Sky Sports wouldn't say it if they didn't think it was true. They're not The Sun. I just want him back!

Sky have been wide of the mark in the past, through their sources, with transfer targets (Ephraim and Buszacky springs to mind), and the LMA Guy reckons he's spoken to O'Neill and there's been no contact....but to be honest in this game it feels like nobody's word is worth taking at face value at all any more !! I'm interested at how far up the odds Curbishley is - now that would be a legend appointment.
Ozwin Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 If we can potentially get Sven or MON then Alan Curbishly looks like Ian Dowie's pet dog.
Zingari Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 fookin hell , maybe Derek Williams is up to his old tricks again http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/mexicans-see-double-as-sven-lookalike-fools-football-club-870949.html
Cropwellfox Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 If we can potentially get Sven or MON then Alan Curbishly looks like Ian Dowie's pet dog. Agree, but if Sven decides he doesn't fancy it, rather see somebody like Curblishley waiting in the wings than some of the no-hopers that were mentioned on alleged shortlists in the summer

FosseFox Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 if we get sven can someone tell me where vthe stability is vat the club because i can not see it Well, given Sven's Managerial History, he's been at most clubs for at least a couple of years. He'd probably still be at Man City if they didn't have mental owners. Then again, we wouldn't be talking about Sven if we didn't have mental owners.
Salieri Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 I wouldn't have taken Sven over MON but i would have taken him over every single one of the other managers linked with us, still struggling to get my head around it to be honest, major coup by the club. Could be exciting times ahead, cast aside your reservations and enjoy the ride.

There will be plenty of unhappy people and granted he does bring baggage but ultimately it is a good appointment.
lcfc_forever Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 If it is as expected Sven, I'd like to him to appoint an English assistant who knows the league well. It's likely Tord Grip will be in Sven's coaching staff. Chris Powell would be a great candidate for this - I think Sven gave him his first England cap so I assume the two have a very good relationship. He's a popular figure and knows the players well. Alternative is a popular figure from Leicester's past who still has strong links to the club, similar to the way Steve Clarke was appointed by Mourinho - perhaps Walsh or Izzet?
Lillehamring Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 So, mandy says 3 'established managers' are candidates and the LMA guy says o'neill is not interested.... so who are the other two?

Vacamion Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 So, it's not officially Sven then? It's still speculation, isn't it???
unreachable Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 So, it's not officially Sven then? It's still speculation, isn't it??? No official announcement. The Daily Mail said we would sign Rosenior and that didn't happen so they are not 100% reliable!

Jackirius Posted 1 October 2010 Posted 1 October 2010 Cheers chap, it's a bit hard on here sometimes to distinguish news from speculation... I doubt something can grab this much media without a reliable source. Signing will probably be completed tomorrow and announced at the game i would assume.

Signing will probably be completed tomorrow and announced at the game i would assume. I hope the fans attending appreciate it (if its right of course) or it could remoralize the team tomorrow if some of our fans dont agree with this announcement (if there is one) and boos.

Anyone else care to speculate as to whether they think it will happen tomorrow?
