It's (maybe) sven.

Sven doesnt have a set style to his play, he adapts to who the oppostion are.

Against teams he sees as being weak, he sets up to attack (England 3-0 Denmark in the world cup for example) and against teams of equal standing or stronger, a containing side that hits on the break, (Argentina 0 - 1 England same world cup)

I cant see any negatives to this deal. The fans cry out for ambition, well this is it. A hugely succesful manager with a good reputation and endless contacts in the world game and in England, Sven would truly be an amazing appointment.

Whilst we all have the romantic idea of O'Neill coming in and picking up where he left off, the appointment of Sven shows a greater ambition.

COME ON LEICESTER!!

One possible plus that might come from the appointment of Sven, would be the chance to keep Chris Powell on as Coach - and allow a bit of continuation. Chris got 5 England caps under Sven (at the ripe old age of 31) - and so he recognised Chris's playing skills, let's hope he recognises his coaching and man management abilities. I really think CP has a future in the game and is well respected by all - I don't want to see him go.

Saying Sven "failed miserably" at England is very harsh. Sven took the team to the cusp of achieving major honors but your players bottled it big time.

Now, it's the last two years that really worry me. He took the Mexico job neither knowing nor caring about the style of football in CONCACAF nor his potential squad nor the football culture in Mexico... And yes, THAT venture was a miserable failure.

Sven also might not have done all his homework when he took the Notts County job (although to be fair it seems as though the FL head honchos didn't do theirs, either), but that + SGE backing out of a deal he was supposed to sign with a club in the UAE (IIRC) does make it seem like he is just in it for the £££. The poster above with the same initials as Sven-Göran might disagree, but even he must concede that this worry isn't irrational, all things considered.

Plus, if the club is going to spend so much money on a manager, don't be surprised if LCFC fans demand immediate success, and don't be surprised if LCFC fans start getting anxious is aforementioned success doesn't come quite soon even though we're tired of losing our managers every other week.

I'm still not convinced this will turn out to be a great move, but the Thais get to impress the folks back home with this big name signing, and Milan the Lying Crook gets to act like he's a genius because he'll still be chairman come Monday.

(P.S.: What about SGE as director of football and MON as first team manager? lol)

Interesting...

I'm disappointed Paulo was sacked, I am disappointed the players couldn't adapt to his style of play, and I'm disappointed that the Milan axe once again fell so early. Technically we won 4 games in this period including the League cup. What's done is done though, I would have probably cum in my pants had we recruited MON, but I also think you should never go back, anything other than promotion and top 10 finishes would seriously taint his legacy. I also can't see him getting on too well with MM. I would rather leave MON on his pedestal and worship him.

So Sven, former Enlgand manager, won at the highest level and managed some of the best teams in Europe, an exciting prospect and a higher profile manager than we've ever recruited, despite being in the worst position for years (I can't remember us being bottom of the Championship, and top of league 1 is better than bottom of the Championship). Is he the man to drag us out of this mire, will he get the boys fighting for their lives and playing in a suitable manner to get results?

I don't think that Sven has much of a track record with regulation fodder. The good news is he has time and maybe his sheer presence will galvanise the team. I'm always amazed at how the same team can play so much better under a different manager and usually does.

What ever you can say about this season so far at least it's not been dull.

You could almost say England were 'relegation fodder' when Sven took over from Keegan (via Twatlor)

I think Sven could have you in the Prem in 2 seasons. This season he will turn it around quick and look for play offs but the following season he will be ready to finish top 3.

Mmmm. That still doesn't mean the premiership......

"It would seem someone was pulling my leg (that or a late change of plan) so, where to find Sven in Leicester on a Friday night?" - Stringer

Haha, unlucky.

If Sven comes, how are we fixed for a Heskey, Owen forward line - I have very little time for Owen but Heskey is a proper legend and makes Howard look like a non-league hoofer

Agreed, when Sven took England the World Cup was looking dead. He turned us around. He won his first 5 competitive world cup qualifying matches with England and drew with Greece (who won Euro 2004 2 years later). He topped the group every time for England in the 3 major tournament qualification groups. Look what has happened since he left!!!! Euro 2008 we didn’t even GET THERE. World Cup 2010, well, England never played hat badly under the Swede.

There's never a dull moment at this club.

We may be playing a boring, non-descript fixture against S****horpe tomorrow but at least everything else that goes along with it isn't. Far from it.

Looking forward to it now.

I'll be on Sven watch from the West Stand!

Few snippets I found about what clubs thought of him....

Notts County

Departing director of football Eriksson's reputation appears to have been enhanced by his time with the League Two club.

Midfielder Matt Hamshaw said the former England boss was a constant presence in training and was a pleasure to work with.

"He never missed a day's training even in the snow and rain," Hamshaw told BBC Sport. "He has stuck through it all. He was a real gentleman and was always there to help players out."

New chief executive Jim Rodwell said Eriksson's post would not be filled in the short to medium term but he added his praise to the Swede's contribution to the club.

Rodwell added: "He has agreed to stay on as joint life president which is a less hands-on role but it gives people an idea of how honourable Sven has been to deal with."

Man City

S.O.S: Save Our Sven

This one goes out to not only City fans, but football fans everywhere. Save Our Sven...

He may not have been an unqualified success at international level, but at club record his team building skills and record are superb. His blend of Manchester City Academy graduates and young international signings holds much promise for City's future if allowed to continue it's development.

Sousa's looking to make new signings, players all behind him...oh hang on a min, he's been sacked, O'Neill is at the Walkers, Hoos is travelling to London, Sven is at the training ground, Stringer is nowhere near any meaningful action, the LMA think we're the worst employer ever, Stowell and Powell leading the boys tomorrow. the end.

....if you want a laugh go to Ian Stringer's twitter. If you want anything truthful or constructive, avoid Ian Stringer's twitter like the plague.

Why are people saying that Sven is just in it for the money? He was going to another club and got a better offer from an English club and he enjoys managing in England how does that automatically make him a money hoare?

Agreed, i cannot express my hatred for Ian Stringer enough...

Keep us posted, my TV is currently being dominated by FIFA11.

We had a very professional but brief interview with Andy King, didn't comment on Sousa said must focus on the Scunny game.

There saying that before Sousa had cleared his desk the reports of Sven as favourite started to come in

Stowell Powell to take charge for saturday,

Hoos or MM is taking Sven out for dinner tonight to try and seal the deal.

MM says he wasn't prepared to stick with a failing manager (ref to holloway era)

I'd accept Sven. At least it would be interesting. More top class judgement from Milan though, that idiot has made this club a laughing stock with his managerial rotation system.
