Houdini Logic Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 I seen Curtis Davies play against Rapid Vienna in the europa league so the above poster is wrong. Still very short of match practise but not that short. OK pedant - hasn't played a LEAGUE match in 14 months before his game for Leicester.
darko2k7 Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Im not the biggest fan of his but still think this is a decent signing for us , really can not see any down side to the signing , HE is free , He WILL score more than Howard so wots the worst that could happen really , he does not cut the mustard and we release him 6 months down the line , its NO LOSE I always remember that great over head kick he scored for england v Holland a few years back that's my only memory of him playing for england , god knows wot he did in the other 21 caps he got
Bettsj2 Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 this. i totally agree, sven knows quality when he sees' it, so he must of saw something in vassell Vassell also has some ludicrous record in the Premiership of never being on the losing side when he's scored. It's something like 50 games. G'won Big Daz.

Ricey Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Will give him a chance but his scoring record is awful and surely it will take him time to get to match fitness. I guess it adds competition though, we couldn't carry on with just 3 strikers.

I guess it adds competition though, we couldn't carry on with just 3 strikers. To be fair to him large amounts of his career were spent on the wing and at a higher level than we are at. I would be happy with Vassell/Fryatt or Vassell/Waghorn up front.
HonradaRaposa Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Gotta be better than Steve Howard. The plastic figures they use to make walls in training for free kick practice are better than that lazy individual.
Adster Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 The plastic figures they use to make walls in training for free kick practice are better than that lazy individual. do you ever stop complaining?
darko2k7 Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 The plastic figures they use to make walls in training for free kick practice are better than that lazy individual. Im not Howard's biggest fan but would never call him lazy he always give it 100% when he plays
Houdini Logic Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 The plastic figures they use to make walls in training for free kick practice are better than that lazy individual. So I guess you think we played better when he went off on Saturday?
Bert Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Vassell also has some ludicrous record in the Premiership of never being on the losing side when he's scored. It's something like 50 games. G'won Big Daz. Shame we're not in the Prem then.
ollie_patterson Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 if i remember correctly, Vassell is borderline midget? would prefer a bigger centre forward who is more dynamic, quicker, lethal, etc than "Super" Steve.... having said that, if Vassell does sign, he will be better than most of our strikers and can fill in on the wings too. - don't know how old he is or how quick he is now though...? Without that pace and power it will be like a new Barry Hayles.

The Year Of The Fox Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 rumoured to be at leicester today isn't he?
MikeyT Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 From Stringers Twitter More Vassell news - its my understanding Darius Vassell WILL sign a permanent contract with Leicester City in the coming day.
drc Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Vassel hasn't got the best ballcontrol in the world but his workrate is almost second to none.
foxoffderby Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Looking forward to watching him play. Cant understand the negativity. He will lack match fitness at first but that will come. Comparing him to Barry Hayles is a joke. The guy is a former England International who if I remember rightley has playerd in a major tournement and in Europe. Once fit he should be at his peak . How many other teams in the Championship can say they've got an former England striker playing for them? Jeez give the boy a chance.
Cumbria Fox Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Just been announced on Radio Leicester that Vassell will be signing a contract with us later this week!!
Master Fox Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Interesting article... http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jan/06/footballer-darius-vassell-turkey-blog He’s obviously a decent player, especially at this level. Poor bloke, Turkey is such a shit country. He’ll be relishing the chance to play for us and being back in England. I reckon we should take 5,000 fans down to the training ground to meet him!
dogadug Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 During his spell at Man City, Sven played him as a right winger for a large majority of games, so he could be just what we need, a striker/right winger
HonradaRaposa Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 So I guess you think we played better when he went off on Saturday? Well I did, even given how shit Gallagher and Waghorn were, we at least started to make it in to the final third of the pitch. His comedy limp as he left the field was funny. He's another one that you won't be seeing too much more of, but you keep embracing the mediocrity.
dandannieldanok Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Never really rated Vassell but will obviously give him full support if he came in. None of our strikers look particularly threatening at the minute so maybe Vassell can improve us, but I'm highly skeptical.
marbelladave Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 During his spell at Man City, Sven played him as a right winger for a large majority of games, so he could be just what we need, a striker/right winger And he often played down the left for England, so could be very usefull either as a front man or a wide striker in an attacking 4-3-3. Mind you, the way Sven is splashing the cash he might only be 8th choice striker by the end of the week...
