He always struck me as an honest hard working player who was never quite good enough to play at the highest level, despite selection for England and runs with several decent premiership teams.

He's 30 years old, experienced and has a great work ethic, could really do well for us at our level.

But then that could just be me looking on the bright side....;)

More Vassell news - its my understanding Darius Vassell WILL sign a permanent contract with Leicester City in the coming days, 1/2 year

Hmm I'll give him some time because he was a top prem striker in the not to distant past. I think Sven will get 1-2 young loanees in as well.

It gives us more options on the attacking front, which can only be good right now. Might make the other strikers buck up their ideas too!

I thought he was older than 30. Nevertheless, I will be willing him on to bag plenty of goals

lol at some of those lot scoffing off Darius Vassell. We're in the Championship not the Champions League.

He will do a job in the Championship!

This will be a cracking signing. Just what we need, some more pace upfront.

Mmmmmmmm, before the currnt signings, I would have said this would be a great signing. My expectations have now gone through the roof, and i'm still waiting for Santa Cruz, and Shaun Right Philips!!

I seen Curtis Davies play against Rapid Vienna in the europa league so the above poster is wrong. Still very short of match practise but not that short.

Yeah massive difference between one game in 14 months and none. :D

What's everyone moaning about? Jesus christ, Beckham he aint, but he's as good as what we've already got. I'd be glad if we got him, hasn't everybody been banging on about getting in a new striker? Problem solved as far as I'm concerned.

To be fair none of our other strikers have played 22 times for england.

Has skill and pace and has scored goals at the highest level.

Not sure why people think this would be a bad signing. He's better than Fryatt, Howard and Gallagher as a striking option or a wide man in the absence of Dyer.

We're telling people to give him a chance and he's not even started at the club yet :L

I think this will be a great signing as we know vassell can play as a striker or a winger tbh we already have good wingers in Dyer and Moussa ( who can play as a winger as we saw against hull)

So i think IF this is true then vassell will replace howard upfront and hopefully will get us goals (y) Welcome To Leicester Darius :scarf:

I'm having a childish underhand dig at those who rave about a 20+ goal League One striker in our ranks, but scoff at a player who has never played below the top flight and is only 30 and has played in major championships.

That player is also going to cost fook all, and happens to respect our manager.

Given how good Sven appears to be at bringing in players (yes ok granted I'm only basing this on Davies and Noughton - but WOW weren't they good), and his comments about the squad being unfit, I doubt he'll bring anyone in not up to the standard he expects.

i totally agree, sven knows quality when he sees' it, so he must of saw something in vassell :thumbup:
