phillthefox Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 vassell will be a great short term signing and at championship level should get some goals for us, as for the comments on long term, what we need is short term and get up the table ...
Stuliasz Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 He's a risk free signing on a 6-12 month contract. I'd imagine it's a short term gap to allow Sven further time to asses his options while still potentially strengthening an area of the team. If it doesn't work, we can get rid easily. If it does then all the better. Fully agree with this. Stunned at the negativity on these boards for every suggested signing that isn't someone who a top 6 prem club signed for daft money and can't fit in their squad. Vassell might be good, might be shit but it's low risk so at least give the bloke a chance!!
Master Fox Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Vassell, Roberts, Waghorn as our 3 main strikers on rotation would be good. Bin Fryatt and Howard.

Pacey, good footballer who played at his best under Sven - not surprised by this signing.

If we can pick up Premiership quality for next to nothing then fair enough. Another shrewd move by Sven in my opinion.
JmorsonLCFC Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Don't get why people are mad with this? If he does a good job..he does a good job. If he doesn't ..oh well.
Alexikokopops Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Am I missing something, why is Waghorn > Fryatt? He was pretty average on Saturday... Master Fox isn't a big fan of Fryatt.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Am I missing something, why is Waghorn > Fryatt? He was pretty average on Saturday... Annoying isn't it. Fryatt would have scored 20+ goals last season if he hadn't broken his jaw.
Blue Bob Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Annoying isn't it. Fryatt would have scored 20+ goals last season if he hadn't broken his jaw. Agree we need fryatt, waghorn, vassell, Roberts. Pace, power and goals with options on the bench which we did not have Saturday! Think Howard will be surplus if we get these two.
Master Fox Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 I'm sure we could get someone in better than Fryatt
ollie_patterson Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 my dad just got back to work, came right up to me and said "i have two words for you..........Darius Vassell" i'm guessing he has signed.
paddy Agyemang Posted 18 October 2010 Author Posted 18 October 2010 FRYATT: 1st person since derek dougan to score back to back hattricks and first person since for more than 20 goals before christmas STOP WINGING ABOUT FRYATT surved the club great down the years and all you that are moaning about fryatt were all begging him to stay last year when he was attracted away from the walkers!!!!! where's your loyalty to the bloke???

ScouseFox Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Leicester fans are like the disillusioned parents of a fvck ugly bird. They always think nobody is good enough for their 'beautiful' little girl. Well we're Leicester City, a pretty ugly bird at the moment, and we're not Chelsea. If Sven thinks he's good enough, then I trust in him and hope to see him playing well. After all, we need a striker, and he's a striker. He's not going to cost much, and i doubt we'll give him a massively long deal.
Brainy Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Think some of you actually owe paddy an apology as his mate seemed to know something. + if you didn't want Jason Roberts then you couldnt possibly want Vassell

Koke Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 He's only 30 years old. Hardly old. Oakley was 30 when we signed him, and Howard was 31. Vassell is being seriously under-rated here. He's not a bad player. He was always a decent Premiership player in his heyday. If his he gets his fitness right, he could do a very good job for us.

I never rated him at all as a Premiership (as it was then) forward. Can't see him offering anything other than pace, but as others have said he's a risk-free signing. Now, where's Michael Ricketts these days?
Steven Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 No offence but this sounds like something a dim person would say, does your mate have connections or is he just making assumptions? Clairvoyance?
Bellend Sebastian Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 I've had an open mind about these things ever since I dismissed the news that we were signing Tony Cottee as a sign that we were desperate, and look what happened there. Some players enter the wilderness and never emerge, others come back every bit as good as they were before. Who knows how this one will turn out? Not me, I've not a bloody clue

I love how people keep moaning about his age and calling him a hasbeen! He's 2 years younger than Didier Drogba - arguably the best striker in the best league in the world right now

He's 2 years younger than Didier Drogba - arguably the best striker in the best league in the world right now Good point, although Drogba seems to have peaked quite a lot later than the average striker. With Vassell, I actually trust that Sven knows whether or not he'll be of use to us. At least changes are happening?
MrSpaM Posted 18 October 2010 Posted 18 October 2010 Don't understand these people who are saying get rid of Fryatt, he's still our top scoring striker this season even if he's only got 4 IAC. People saying his hearts not been in it this season, you could arguably say that for our entire strikeforce, including Waghorn.
