Joe. Posted 4 November 2010 Posted 4 November 2010 Have won an award. Apparently. JacquiOatley Jacqui Oatley Congrats Radio Leicester on winning best sports coverage award for the history of #LCFC. Silver to Radio Merseyside, Radio Manc bronze.
The Doctor Posted 4 November 2010 Posted 4 November 2010 How shit must the rest of the regional bbc radio stations be then?
Narborough_fox Posted 4 November 2010 Posted 4 November 2010 Oh deary deary me, how the hell did we win that.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 4 November 2010 Posted 4 November 2010 Stringer must be good then. Probably enjoys his fair share of OATLEYBIX in the morning.
rams r4 sh*ggin Posted 4 November 2010 Posted 4 November 2010 we won cos stringer used his useless gob for more than just talking the judges were said to have left with smiles on their faces after a brief incounter with him
The Doctor Posted 4 November 2010 Posted 4 November 2010 Probably enjoys his fair share of OATLEYBIX in the morning. if i'm remembering the correct person (the one who works the phones on TFLS) then i don't think even stringer would sink that low.
Ford Super Sunday Posted 4 November 2010 Posted 4 November 2010 Notice that people have ignored the fact this is not for their matchday/forum coverage of the club. It's for the 125 years documentary they did in November last year.
Narborough_fox Posted 4 November 2010 Posted 4 November 2010 if i'm remembering the correct person (the one who works the phones on TFLS) then i don't think even stringer would sink that low. No that's Lizzie someone. Jacqui Oatley.
samjohnson Posted 4 November 2010 Posted 4 November 2010 Ian Stringer isnt that bad... is he? I seriously feel pity on those radio stations that are classed as "not as good" as Radio Leicester's sports coverage
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 4 November 2010 Posted 4 November 2010 Think RL owe a massive thanks to Alan Young. He carries the others.
Callabinho Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 I like stringer, he has blue and white in his heart! At least he makes the commentary exiting to listen too oatley is awful.
Kitchandro Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 I like stringer, he has blue and white in his heart! At least he makes the commentary exiting to listen too oatley is awful.
Arkie Bennett Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 I like stringer, he has blue and white in his heart! At least he makes the commentary exiting to listen too oatley is awful. Being a fan - if he really is - doesn't make him a good commentator. I think the only excitement to be derived from his constant drivel is working out what's actually happening from the limited and inaccurate information he provides.
cc_star Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 Stringer is a terrible gobshite who's pretty awful at commentary, however he certainly isn't a puppet for the club, so its more interesting than someone who tows the corporate line
accessory Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 NUJ strike at the BBC today and tomorrow Don't think Stringer is a member, but surely not even he would cross a picket line - especially when working in Arthur Scargill's home town..
Guest Basildon Fox Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 Why is it the fashion to hate Stringer so much? At least he is his own man and says what he thinks. Perhaps a few posters on here should take note that it is ok to have a differing thought from the rest. I like listening to Stringer and imo is the best commentator we have had for quite a while. The way he laid into MM over the Pearson and mystery investor affairs made me chuckle. He may be a little trigger happy sometimes but I would rather listen to his sometimes over excited commentaries than that last twat Barber every day of the week.
CelebFox Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 Congrats RL, It all good PR, They didnt win it for a documentry on Tigers, LCCC, or Multi cultural relations. They won for it for documentry on our football club, Well done!!

Trav Le Bleu Posted 5 November 2010 Posted 5 November 2010 NUJ strike at the BBC today and tomorrow Don't think Stringer is a member, but surely not even he would cross a picket line - especially when working in Arthur Scargill's home town.. I have been thinking this since this morning when I turned on Breakfast News and thought, "who the hell is THAT?! Where's Sian/Sussanah?" I had considered offering BBC RL my services, then I remember it was an away game in Yorkshire and I don't finish work until 12 at best. What chances an Alan Young/Richard Smith commentary partnership? Think it might be good! STRINGER OUT!

It's not about hate, I just don't like the man's commentary style and his other City-related output. I never have done, so I'm not following any "fashion". I'm just being my own man and saying what I think. I'm struggling to follow the logic that says it's wrong to dislike Stringer, but fine to describe Barber as a "twat", while also saying it's ok to have differing opinions.
