Bristol Pre-Match chat, team and injury updates

I'm guess most people will say stick with an unchanged team.

Today's Merc

Matt Oakley will be available after injury for tomorrow's trip to Bristol City, but City face an anxious wait over defender Miguel Vitor.

The Portuguese centre-back pulled out of the warm-up before last Saturday's 2-0 victory over Derby County with a thigh strain and has not yet returned to full training.

"Matt has trained for the last two days, so he will certainly be involved," said Fazackerley.

"Vitor has done a proportion of the training but still isn't 100 per cent right. But there is plenty of time before the game and, hopefully, he will have recovered in time to join us."

I'm keen to see how Hobbs plays if he does end up stepping in again. Another solid performance would surely do his confidence a world of good.

2 goals from forwards would make me a happy bunny

Can't see why we'd need to make any changes considering we've had a week since the last game. The only debatable place is Vitor in for Hobbs although if he's not 100% I don't see why Hobbs won't start again.

Maybe Sven want to use different players against different oppostions ?

if you don't count the backline I feel that only King is 100% sure to be in the starting 11.

True. I suppose someone like Lloyd Dyer could get a starting place considering he seems to have been doing well when he's been coming off the bench.

I don't know how the rest of you feel, but I would much rather a Dyer start with Vassell coming on later. Vassell hasn't really done anything to impress me yet. I know that it will take him a while to gel with the team, but I don't see why Dyer only gets to play 10 - 20 mins when he is so good?

Hobbs seemed to play better last weekend, so lets hope he retains that form.

I'm really looking forward to tomorrow - i'm feeling optimistic! :scarf:

Can't forget that Vassell is Sven's golden boy though!

But Dyer has played well when he's been on so I suppose a like for like switch isn't out of the question. Other than that I don't think there is a need to change a thing.

I think Dyer coming off the bench when the oppositions defence is knackered is a great idea! People can't handle him at the best of times let alone an hour or so into the game!

Putting Oakley into a winning team is stupid. Only possible change in Vitor for Hobbs but I don't think thats fair considering Jacks performance against Derby.

dyer deserves a start. I don't know if Waghorn or howard will start though, I think Waghorn just needs a goal and he will be fine.

Agreed. Never change a defence thats just kept a clean sheet if you can help it

I agree 100%. I rate Dyer very highly but as you say, bringing him on say 1 hour into the game has a terific effect. A fresh pair of legs a fast as Dyers' are spells danger to the opposition & goals fo City. I think this is possibly how Sven sees Dyer being at his most effective.

I would have to feel sorry for Jack Hobbs if he is dropped to the bench, but Vitor has looked real class imo. :chant:

City due a good win, so it's 3 - 1 for the lads tomorrow. :scarf:

Same team but with Vitor instead of Hobbs, Hobbs has plenty of time to improve and that can be done on the training pitch for now imo.

Think this will be a draw, 1-1 my prediction.

Would like to see roughly the same team that played vs Derby, with Dyer possibly in it for Vassell. I do hope Sven doesnt put Oakley in, he seems to usually always get into the team some how when he is fit, when he is is certainly no better than all out other midfielders.

Wish I was going, but its that bit too far so will have to get the radio out and try to pick up RL somehow. I wish that free link to the player commentary was still available!

If anyone is in the area this is where the team are staying maybe you can nip in and give them your support :unsure:http://www.aztechotelbristol.com/

A mate of mine is currently having dinner at the hotel and just gave us a call to say he was surrounded by city players.

He's not a football fan but even he recognised Sven.

Nice hotel, just off Junction 16 of the M5 - near my Bristol office. It's literally 2 minutes off the junction so if you fancy stalking the players tomorrow morning !

Totally agree - get Lloyd in.

Seems a bit strange us having a side you can get excited about!
