That dog of your better not be jumping up at any cyclists.

It's what he's trained for. That and ripping the faces off scared children with his unmuzzled fangs.

Yep, The Kelmarsh Tunnels - I went to see the "closed" one and we ended up popping into both.

It all starts with free time and tunnels, Dave.

Before you know it you're the guy on the bridge, uncertain whether to cross the incoming train off your 'spot' list or throw yourself in front of it.

Think slow, brother.

Got the next one targeted:

Abandoned but sealed off nuclear fuel dump.

:wave::wave::wave:

When I was a kid there were all kinds of stories about Glenfield Railway Tunnel. Can't say I've ever been there, but as a kid used to play on the waste gound next to Marconi on Scudamore Road, before the ring road got put through. It was a great little bit of wild wasteland and I always remember seeing some weird devices in the back of that place.

what sort of stories ?

i remember going through there loads of times as a kid , the trains still ran occasionally but there are recesses in the walls to wedge into , (although i never actually needed to)

but it was in actual fact just a boring old tunnel

i remember there was one little girl killed in there though ,( would have been about 1960)

don't remember anything else out of the ordinary really though

What its a disgrace that you won The 800m?

I think you deserved it!!!

The Saff was a great place.

we used to use the Gym and the track was always good.

Think the velodrome was abit dead but the 5 a sides wer awesome on a floodlit winters evening.

Best not say much about the demise of the place else the political lobbyists will be out in force!!!

When I was learning to fly you would see absolutely loads of old abandoned airfields, recognisable for often having 3 overlapping runways in a triangle shape and a visible perimeter track going around the edges.

There's a pretty amazing place near where I live on Salisbury Plain. A deserted, mock German (Bavarian) village that was used for training during the Cold War, which now also has a makeshift Iraqi village.

Saying that I remember something on TV about one village (think it was in Kent) that was used to practice the Normady landinghs. They evacuated and relocated the villagers an its not changed. Don't think anyone went back.

You are thinking of Imber on Salisbury plain in Wiltshire or Tyneham in Dorset, both of which are still in MOD land. They practised the D day landings at Slapton Sands which is not deserted.
