Table Stats & Points Needed For Average 6th

Recommended Posts

Blackpool Were 6th at 70 points last year so lets say we ought to get 74 this year.

We have 21 Games left and currently have 32 points.

So 42 points needed for 6th which makes us need to aim for 14 wins out of 21

Is it out of our graps? Me thinks not.

Up the foxes! :sge: :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

Can't see us getting 14 wins out of the 21 left.

I can see us getting 10, hopefully we'll get a couple more.

Although saying that, this league is so tight, don't expect 6th to attain 70 points again. 66 hopefully, thats easily possible for us :scarf:

its definately acheivable, however i worry about the other 10 or so teams between us and play offs whome are also capable of going on a run, plus the fact they already have points on the board....

And games in hand, with which they can attain more points.

QPR, Swansea and Cardiff are guaranteed a top 6 finish imo, which leaves 3 more spaces.

Can't see Norwich messing it up from here too, so only 2 more imo.

That leaves at least 11 teams chasing them. Forest are in a good position, with 3 games in hand. And a lot of other teams have games and points over us, so we would need a fantastic run, averaging 2 points a game.

Remember, the 4 teams below us can pass us if they win their games in hand. 5 points from 9 games at the start cost us severely.

Personally think we need 43 points from the next 21 games. 12 Wins 5 draws and 4 defeats. That'd be an incredible run of form.

So that would mean we would miss out by 2 points then? :dunno:

So we were out of it last week and now right back in it this week?

This is bullshit. We're not going to make the play-offs this year. Let's just enjoy today's win without analysing its impact on our non-existent play-off hopes.

(12*3) + (5*1) + (4*0) = 43?

Cheers everyone. I'd say maths isn't my strong point but it really is. Whereas attention to detail clearly isn't. Either way I'm glad none of you disagreed :P

We could make them, its not likely, but its not impossible. So :dunno:

I wouldn't say our team is incapable of playing to the standard that'd see us get there. Looking at how the seasons actually gone though and how it's playing out for other teams, I would say enjoy each game as it comes because I don't have great expectations for us to finish in the top 6. The season still wont be a waste though as with the changes that have took place including those likely to during the window a building in strength and stability between the team and club during the second half of the season could put us on good form and a strong foot for next time around. No doubt we have improved though to me and I guess you never know

It's definately still possible. To admit now that it isn't is like throwing in the towel.

It's not over 'til it's over.

Hopefully the new additions this month will further strengthen the team and give us more momentum to move forward. If the team adapts quickly to the changes made, it's possible.

"We'll see" - :sge:

Just enjoy every game as it comes.

I think its fair to talk about the play offs. Its what everyone wants. Sven is under pressure which is great becasue he loves it and soaks it up. The fans and owners putting pressure on promotion is a good thing becasue Sven is Ice cool. England players said they felt relaxed under him so he can work on the players psycology for ways for them to cope.

Keep the pressure on I say and lets get into the play offs.

Winning the play offs would be tough so in my heart im thinking premier league year after next and i am sure most on here feel that way

We need 2pts per game then?

This is league winning form? Have we seen anything from the squad or manager to suggest we're capable of (technically) winning the league?

Hull were abysmal today, let's not think it's going to translate into the equivalent of winning the league

Let's not forget all the teams above us have more points on the board, they have games in hand & they have an extra point because of our dreadful goal difference.

Nothing is impossible but that is about as close to impossible as you can get.

This false hope is actually hindering us because even now Sven is cramming the squad with loan players who won't be here next season for our realistic promotion push, meaning there will be yet more chopping & changing on a large scale, more unrest, more unhappy players wanting out... Which is fair enough - but let's do that now, get it all out the way in this transitional season, not next summer - feck the loan players off & make permanent signings to build an automatic promotion chasing team... Let's not be still rebuilding from a load of loan players leaving (except Naughton of course)

I did the predictor on the BBC Sport website and had us finishing 5th with 72/72 points. Though lots of teams finish with one or two games in hand due to the fixture list not being updated.

I had us win the majority of our home games, but losing at Forest, Derby and Cardiff and a few others.

I think I worked out that based on the average points we have picked up under Sven, over the next 21 games we would get 67 points. So we need to improve by about 4 points, which is just another win and a draw. The league is so tight I think you could possibly make the PO's with 70 points, so we can do it, like I keep saying we just need to win three games i na row minimum or go on a small unbeaten run/

The main priority for this season should be putting a team together that can play consistently well in this league and actually compete in the Premier League. What's the point of getting promoted this season if we get relegated straight away in the next?

The real test for Sven will be buying the right players in the Jan Transfer Window because if he gets it wrong it will just prolong the period of disruption/unsettlement within the team/club.

The play offs are still a bit a way with everyone else having games in hand, but a good run off form and we could well be in contention. But i dont think 70 points will be needed i think about 64/65 will scrape you 6th place this season

Cant see that at all.

Based on avergae points at the minute Watford are 6th and would finish with 72 points. I know it doesnt work like that but I would be amazed if anyone makes the playoffs with less than 70 points.

My turn to be a smart arse.

I doubt anyone will be making the play offs with less than 7 points.
