jonw88 Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 We've still got a bunch of fringe players brought in by Sousa or others that aren't getting a look in/are incredibly crap, that really should tried to be moved on this transfer window. We'll also probably strengthen in most positions too which will mean we'll have a massive squad. As far as I can see, players that should probably move on include: - Robbie Neilson (crap) - Michael Lamey (evener crapper) - Moreno (not really suited to this league yet, put on plane back to Portugal) - Leon Crncic (is he even alive still?) - Roman Bednar (cancel loan, return to WBA) - Danny N'guessan (hasn't had a look in since returning from Scunny) Maybe even Steve Howard or Matt Oakley could find themselves moving on if we are are looking to strengthen?? Any other ideas on who should be going?
themotivator Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 how long has danny been back? oh and get rid of em all except crncic
jonw88 Posted 3 January 2011 Author Posted 3 January 2011 how long has danny been back? oh and get rid of em all except crncic Think he's been back since around the 14th December. Any why not get rid of crncic? Have you seen something of him (anything in fact) that we haven't??
m00nie Posted 3 January 2011 Posted 3 January 2011 i would keep bednar.. wouldnt be bothered about the rest.. vassel needed game time before he started to gel and think bednar is the same..

Have you seen something of him (anything in fact) that we haven't?? He is consistently raved about by those who have their eye on the reserve team. Not sure of any stats though (goals, assists etc). Chris Powell rates him very highly I believe. If this is the case, let's hold on to him as he's bound to be a low wage, and we have the money anyway. Might just end up a cracking production with the experience he's gaining for the reserves, considering that they play Premier League reserve teams, and look at the youth set ups at United, Arsenal etc...

Oakley was brilliant in Sven's early boom period & Howard offers something no one else at the club can do Crncic deserves a look if he progresses as well

topharry123 Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 Howard can still do a job for us, and he's a good player to have in the dressing room to keep spirits up. Oakley's had his time, thanks for the service but time to move on. Bednar has looked pretty awful so far and we don't really need him as we got Big Steve, BUT maybe he's worth giving a bit more time to as he has shown in the past that he's a decent enough player. Maybe hold onto him for another month and see if he picks up his performances, if not get him out.
karl rudham Posted 4 January 2011 Posted 4 January 2011 Good choice of names to move on this January, to confirm my desired departures: - Nielson, Lamey, Moreno, N'Guessan, Logan, Bednar. It looks a prospect that QPR may take Waghorn on loan and I hope it is only that, but would rather see him stay and fight for his place. I would like to see go, although I know it won't happen: - Abe, Gallacher. Keep until the end of the season and review in the summer: - Howard, Oakley. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE KEEP: - Bruno Berner !!!!!!!! & Michael Morrison too. And finally: - Not moved by the two new arrivals so far Mee and Bamba, never heard of either, fair play give them a chance & I may eat my words, same goes for Parker, I was expecting more household names and not the Beckham's of this world, but cut and thrust championship players who set the league alight.

Les-TA-Jon Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Exactly - we need players that know this league. We need to sign players from champ clubs (hard i know!) - but when was the last time LCFC made a signing of a player we'd all heard of?

I don't really see why it matters if we've heard of them or not does it ? As long as they're good who cares ? Had you ever heard of Muzzy Izzet before he signed ?

Any other ideas on who should be going? I've only one quibble with that - with regards to Matt Oakley. As a player there's a case to mount as to whether he's really good enough now. And yet he does seem to keep himself fit and does seem capable of doing a reliable and useful job as a substitute. That wouldn't normally be enough for me to defend his being retained but there seems to be more to the guy than just the games. Of all people Oakley seems to be a positive influence around the place...a senior footballer whose done a lot at a lot of clubs, has a lot of contacts and who is both intelligent and articulate. Kingy speaks highly and often about the help he's offered both to him and other young players around the training ground and that all leads me to wonder if he will make an excellent coach and manager if he's inclined. Oakley is deeply involved in running a wine busines - and we're talking top level stuff - and the bloke is clearly an authority. There's much more to the guy than just football and if I were Sven I might well want to utilise those talents if Oakley was interested - and I don't mean in improving post-match managerial hospitality to Ferguson levels! Every club needs good footballers around the place who are prepared to help and encourage others, guys who can take a youngster to one side and explain why his being left out of a side after playing a good game is not necessarily the end of the world. Guys who can put a smile on the face of a lad who's just had his leg broken and thinks four months out might be a lifetime. Yes, managers can do these things but they've not always got the time nor is it always sensible for them to get too deeply involved. It's the same with training. I don't know but I'd bet that Oakley's a 100 per center - a guy who sets an example to himself and others. A guy who could quietly take the time, as club captain, to politely encourage others to give their best or to rally support for a manager when the bloke gets under pressure from a run of bad results. Bottom line is that I'd probably want Oakley around for as long as he'd be prepared to stay. No I don't think his football wlll change fo the better now. But he'll never let us down when called upon and has lots to contribute in other ways. Including as an investment adviser! Top quality wine - purchased on its potential - is a genuinely interesting and usually sound idea. And the fringe benefits truly memorable. Good health!!!
Babylon Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Any idea if he has his badges? He has his 50m breast stroke badge, and one for picking a brick up in the shallow end.
jonw88 Posted 6 January 2011 Author Posted 6 January 2011 Ooh I forgot about someone (thanks OS for removing them from the player list).... Tom Kennedy - at loan at Rochdale, which must expire this week or the next surely. Should we keep him as backup for the left back spot now that Cunningham's gone, or should we let him go? I think if Pearson had still been around, he could have moulded him into a better defender over time but the week after he came in and next thing he knew Sousa was in charge and it all went a bit billy bollocks for him. Shame really but don't think he's cut out for Sven's squad and will probably end up going back on loan to League 1 for the rest of the season unless a club can afford a small transfer fee.
hackneyfox Posted 6 January 2011 Posted 6 January 2011 Logan, Weale, Berner, Morrison, Dyer, Gallagher, Howard, Fryatt and Fryatt. And I wouldn't play Oakley again.
wurmer Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 He has his 50m breast stroke badge, and one for picking a brick up in the shallow end. That never gets old..
Islandmike Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Agreed with the main list, not sure we should move on Howard on though, he does a good job.

Played at world cup + euros for england, spent quite a while as a regular starter for man city, villa in the prem. Hardly an unknown.
