Ring them up, tell them your pass was in date and you want the ticket removed or made invalid. I don't think you should ignore it. Perhaps the guy/girl giving the ticket got their dates wrong and therefore wrongly issued it.

cleaning vomit out of my carpet - can I use a hoover?

No, vacuum cleaners uses beaters, the round brushes and these will just grind the puke into the carpet. You need something like a wet and dry cleaner or just get your hands dirty!! I doubt even waiting for the vomit to dry will work as there will still be mositure in it.

If you drink enough mouthwash, will you get smashed or will it kill you first?

I'm not sure , but the person who gives you mouth to mouth resuscitation will have a pleasant minty experience.

Q: My sister is drinking mouthwash on a daily basis. What internal damage would be done from drinking 20 or 30 ounces of mouthwash every day for a year?

She had her gallbladder removed two months ago, but she hasn't stopped drinking mouthwash. I am quite worried about her.

A: Mouthwash can contain quite a lot of alcohol, 25 percent or more. Consuming 6 or 8 ounces of ethanol a day is bad enough, but also imbibing the other "phenolic compounds" such as eucalyptol, thymol, methyl salicylate and menthol in various types of mouth-wash also may be dangerous.

Other readers have reported similar problems: "My girlfriend is a hopeless alcoholic. She lied about drinking, and I found her passed out with an empty bottle of mouthwash in her hand. As I looked around the house, I found many empty bottles of generic mouthwash. I don't know what to do."

We have heard from people whose loved ones have died as a result of abusing alcohol-containing mouthwash. Fighting alcoholism is a difficult task, and you will need a lot of help if your sister is willing to try. Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon can be helpful. A prescription for naltrexone (ReVia) or acamprosate (Campral) along with behavior modification also might make a difference.

Ergo the answer is........... You would die

I go to the supermarket everyday for a bottle of whiskey and 6 cans of strong lager for my own consumption.

Honest answers please, do you think I’m becoming a shopaholic ?

Not if you can remember. (or should that be the other way round?)

Depends really if you go into your local AA shop demanding to be treated or if you are after car breakdown cover.

Question that came up in the pub the other night , no-one seemed sure , even though one of the group worked in a doctor's surgery.

Are doctors still allowed to give placebo effect type drugs ?

I remember watching a Richard Dawkins documentary quite recent about an NHS hospital prescribing homeopathic drugs so I presume so.

Quite sad if true as well.

Homeopathic drugs are very different to placebo-effect drugs, surely? :ermm:

Well considering the major ingredient in homeopathic drugs are water and apparently the more water the better I would say as it probably wont benefit the patient much so I guess it gives a placebo effect.

yes, i see what you mean but i suppose with homeopathic remedies the patient is aware that it is just a plant based concoction , but the placebo is passed over to the patient as some sort of medicinal compound but is nothing of the sort and there is more of an element of deceit .

Apparently placebos work in some cases even when the patient knows they're placebos accord to QI, a wonderful thing the human mind and body much under utilised.

I'm rewriting my CV - do I mention in interests/achievements my membership to the Real Ale Society? It is a campaigning society after all.

No, I'd leave that one out! ;)
