If i was in a lift.... and it was about to go down... what would happen if i jumped up at the EXACT moment the lift was due to start going down?

Would i fall further than the other people? would i be off the floor and suspended in air for just a half second longer? would my feet hurt as i would have further to go to hit the ground?,

Inquiring minds want to know!

This had long been a question of mine ( ithink since i watched towering inferno lol ) sadly mythbusters, proved that you will still be smashed to little bits even if you jumped (i secretly still believe i could time it just right though.)

just going down normally or crashing down?

If crashing down you'll end up dead, to survive that you should lie on top of a fat person - they cushion the impact for you.

If going down normally then i'd suggest actually doing it like scientists used to do - none of this theory shit, just practical tests.

A question just occurred to me. There is no wrong or right answer.

If you won say £500,000 on the lottery tonight would you buy £100 or more of Tuesdays £150million Euromillions lottery tickets?

probably yes

But you've just won something, is that being greedy?

Also what are the chances of winning big twice in one week?

I'd be happy with that.

I'd be happy with the £500k.

I'd be tempted to put £100 sports bet on purely because I'd never do if I hadn't won that amount of money.

if i won 500k that would be the last time i gambled anything :)

How did Teller ( from Penn and Teller ) do that trick with the coins and the goldfish on "Fool Me" tonight

twas naught but witchcraft surely

I'd definitely buy a fair few.

If you buy loads chances of you winning at least something back on the money you spent on tickets will increase, and as for winning twice in one week, that's statistically irrelevant as the chance of you winning one lottery has nothing to do with the chance of you winning the next.

Because a lift is relatively slow you probably wouldn't feel the difference.

I have a HD ready TV (no I didn't loot it) that receives freeview. After the digital switchover next week will I be able to receive HD channels on freeview?

why, in building terminology, is a re-inforced steel girder, known as an Rsj ?

doesn't the J stand for joist ?

edit ;

ive checked and it's rolled steel joist

What's the difference between a joist and a girder. Think carefully Paddy .'

1. If you get cashback at the supermarket when paying on a credit card, does it count as a cash advance (subject to the bank's extra fee) or does it just come under your purchases?

2. If you're driving along and you're drinking an alcoholic beverage that is less than the drink-drive limit, is it illegal?

1. It just counts as a normal purchase, but nearly all places don't offer cashback for credit cards, just debit

2. :dunno: Same as drinking anything while driving, I guess it's illegal?

1. I really should have realised that given that I worked in a supermarket for nearly 3 years...

2. Surely it can't be illegal to have a cup of coffee in your drinks holder or a bottle of water?

What has happened to mongrel dogs ?

When I was a lad everyone who had a dog had a mongrel ( heinz 57) dog , or something like a jack russell or lurcher , which weren't really proper breeds back then and you hardly ever saw any of the silly looking fancy breeds strolling about these days.

Dogs were much better then :)

Had Jack russells and lurchers when i was a kid.. ace dogs.

Jack russell now, soft as shit but clever as fook. If i take 2 Rizzla papers out of the pack, he knows he`s going out for a walk. lol

Woundn`t have any other "breed" than a jack russell.

By law, you have to be 16 to have sex (is it 16 isn't it?), but you have to be 18 to watch porn movies (not dogs).

That needs some explaining.

how far into the future is " the foreseeable future " ?

how far is infinity?
