zubi Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Sven commits himself to Leicester http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/football_focus/9348464.stm
sdb Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 e's a lovely geezer, but don't forget that e is from Sveeedeen!!
wurmer Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 I still don't get why some people on here question his commitment and ambition to get the club back into the Premier League. Keown is still a nob though.
MC Prussian Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 You can't hate Sven, you can only love embrace him.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 I Love Sven and I Love the FA Cup!! Roll on Sunday!
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Just watched this. Not sure what Keown was doing there though, didnt say a thing really.

Babylon Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 I think Sven sees this job as an opportunity to regain his reputation. With the media hounding during his England times, the women, and the perception of the general public that he is a mercenary only in it for the money. He's needed to put down some roots for a while to get people thinking of him in a good way again, jumping ship so soon would only serve to sully his reputation even more. We were a perfect fit for him really, bottom of the league but with a squad more than good enough to be top half of the table. Plus the extra benefit of new owners willing to back him in the market. A man of his capabilities could only improve open the position we were in after Sousa left. It wasn't so long ago he was linked with the biggest jobs in the world, so only getting job offers from the likes of Notts County and the Ivory Coast for a few months of late would hurt his pride. He's not going to be here for 4/5 years, but I do believe he will be here for a while yet. He is rebuilding himself, and to do that he has to rebuild us. When you have someone with his track record, qualifications, experience and knowledge... and add to that something to prove, I think it makes for very exciting times here. :sge:
AmyLGK Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Just watched this. Not sure what Keown was doing there though, didnt say a thing really. I got the impression that this was an extra part to the Sven interview on Football Focus on Saturday so maybe Keown has more input in the main interview!?!?

By the time he gets us to where we/he wants to be, it will probably be at the end of the next season so that will 2 seasons already. He talks about his desire to manage in the premiership again so i couldn't see him leaving after just one season with us in the top flight. I think he wants to take us to the top half, similiar to where Bolton, Fulham, Sunderland have been in recent seasons, and why not? Didn't he say about a month ago he would be happy to sign a 5 year deal when he was linked with other jobs?
Babylon Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Didn't he say about a month ago he would be happy to sign a 5 year deal when he was linked with other jobs? He did but what manager wouldn't? If he really wanted to leave he'd still get his way as all managers and players do now days. Yet sign a 5 year contract and get sacked means you get massive pay off. It's win win for them.
wurmer Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 I got the impression that this was an extra part to the Sven interview on Football Focus on Saturday so maybe Keown has more input in the main interview!?!? I reckon HE made the teas...

zubi Posted 7 January 2011 Author Posted 7 January 2011 I reckon HE made the teas... I think its because of his ever so bubbly personality
Trav Le Bleu Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Keown "famously" played for Leicester? Yeah, cos he was one of our star players in recent years
sphericalfox Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Football Focus came to ask about Sven's revolution. Keown mistook this for a piece on evolution. Badoomtish! Credit to Mr. Hicks and Martin Keown's course at the Handsome Boy Modelling School.
ajthefox Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Don't get me wrong I love Sven but him commiting is the least I'd expect from a man with some integrity. If he was to be anywhere other than here come september i'd be be pretty disapointed in him.
Collymore Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Sven is so cool. Imagine the stories he could share over a pint or cuppa.
bjblyth Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 I'm sorry but when he says this, I am completely under the Sven spell and absolutely 110% believe him... You can hear in his voice that he is genuine... I want to manage in Premier League again, but I want to do it with Leicester. :sge:
Guest Bilo Posted 7 January 2011 Posted 7 January 2011 Sven, you absolute gent. I agree with Babs that we are most definitely a project for him rather than a stop-off before a bigger job. He's taken over a club that he knows has the fanbase and facilities to be in the Premier League, and knows that the ambition of the owners means he'd get the funds to keep us there.
